I got out of bed before 5 this morning to meet David(Brookings Ocean Fishing and Cast Guide Service) at 6:15. I was at the D dock(as instructed) at 5:45 because that is way I like to roll for fishing with a guide — early. David was a no show and at 6:15(the instructed meetup time) I started searching for him. I called him 5 times within an hour and left 3 messages. My final message was that I was ending my search for him. Around noon David called me back but could provide no explanation for the screw up or why he had left his mobile phone on his boat while he had gone out with others to fish. I can handle it when a professional screws up, especially because I have been that guy that has made a mistake. The key is to own your mistakes. While I cannot say for certain I was lied to, the whole event stunk and David appears to have sabatoged the plans after learning that his larger group bailed. I can only speculate as to why he would not simply call me and scratch the plans regardless of reason or time. The speculation doesn’t help anyway. You just have to learn and move on. Never again for this guy.
