Mama’s Pizza in Slatington

Owner is very rude and the food is not worth coming back for. I will not go back there !!

Mamas Pizza. Beautiful uptown Slatington. Mamas is our go-​to place for consistent quality food. Their pizza is good and they have a couple varieties. I like the fact that they do not put a hot sandwich and a cold sandwich in the same bag… so you don’t get two sandwiches that are the same temp. I also like the fact that if something is wrong Dominic will make it right. They also have take out beer that is cheaper than either bar up the street. Way better than that place in Walnutport.

Just an average pizza joint, average pizza, average sandwiches, everything is average. Not going to say it’s bad but there’s nothing on the menu that’s going to blow you out of the water. It’s just average.

Even though I’m living in Chicago right now, surrounded by tons of wonderful pizza places, the thing I find myself craving most is a good New York style. (Well, I might crave a chocolate-​vanilla soft serve twist in a cone more, or tax-​free clothing shopping, but let’s set that aside for now). The thin yeasty crust that’s crispy on the the bottom and soft on top, the chewy crust ends that puff up, the copious layer of cheese that seems to absorb the tomato sauce, the hint of oregano, all of it practically spilling out of the pizza box. That’s my perfect pizza, and that’s what Mama’s offers.
The sandwiches are about average for your pizza shops, not amazing but certainly not bad. I would skip the Sicilian pizza, but I don’t like Sicilian in general. When it comes to the standard pizza, though, it’s definitely the best in the area. The garlic knots on the side are good, too. The owner is a dick who takes advantage of the employees he doesn’t wantonly fire, but all the ex-​employees I know still consider this place their go-​to pizzeria, so that tells you something.
