Brought my 13 week old puppy in for his booster shots and a check up (with my 4 year old daughter) the vet came in answered a few questions, and told me she was giving him his Lyme, DHLPP, and rabies. Once she gave the shots my puppy whined a few times then collapsed and immediately urinated and defected. The vet grabbed him and brought him in another room. The vet came back and said he was fine it WASN’T a reaction to the shots, it was stress induced… This was the second time he had shots, the first time there was no stress, he was fine… She told me she wanted to keep him for a few hours to observe him. I left and started researching vaccines, what I found is most vets do not recommend giving a 13 week old puppy multiple shots and they do not recommend giving puppies rabies shots until they are ~ 6 months old. We also called another vet who we used in the past (they are further away which is why we tried this new one), the old vet agreed with what we found on the Internet. When we went to pick our puppy up the vet refuses to come out and talk to us, the receptionist just said they did nothing wrong… When we arrived my puppy was in a cage howling, they said he had been doing that most of the afternoon. He is crate trained and whines when he needs to use the potty, my wife took him outside and he immediately went potty. When asked if they had given him any fluids for the 2.5 hours he was caged up they said no… They also didn’t provide him with any Benadryl to help with the potential allergic reaction. Why you wouldn’t try to hydrate and treat my puppy is beyond me, then the vet refusing to come out and discuss options was not acceptable. We would not recommend this clinic to anyone and will make sure to tell this to anyone who asks.
