within a day of posting this, Zelda contacted me and explained the situation and hand delivered a full refund. This is a very responsive and concerned business. Kol Hakavod

Tried Zelda’s Thanksgiving catering menu. The turkey was delicious. So juicy! Everyone loved it. The garlic green beans with kale and carrots were wonderful also. So glad they started the catering business. Will order from them again soon!

Wow! Zeldas’ treats and candies are the longest lasting, best tasting and best presented Kosher sweet delicacies in Chicago. My wife and I enjoy them on Shabbas and appreciate greatly the selection they have in their store of fresh sweets from chocolate parve candies to many other types as well. They are not even that far from where we live and we recommend them for anyone that needs sweets for their upcoming simcha or happy occasion.

Zelda’s is a little dessert place in Skokie that has been around for quite some time, offering certified kosher pareve snack foods and desserts. Cakes, caramel corn, biscotti, and cookies are of a variety here. The hubs and I stopped by to check this place out, and we were able to purchase and sample a few things: a chocolate and sprinkle-covered pretzel stick, a chewy walnut and raisin bar, some chocolate truffles, and a petit four. I was a little disappointed that most were of dark chocolate rather than milk chocolate, but I did appreciate that their chocolates were less sweet and not too sugary. Service was a little MIA, but you are more than welcome to peruse the place and its selections. +certified kosher pareve desserts +more dark chocolate-oriented +free parking!

Wow. Delicious treats and great service. What else do you need? Now they have savory too and cater. I’ve been to a few events with the Zelda’s Kosher Gourmet logo(which I did confirm is the same company as Zelda’s Sweets) and I blame my big belly on them! My wife says it has to do with my eating habits, but nope, all these guys! If you get a chance, order their chicken fried rice from their«to go» menu. In fact I think I might just get some right now…

Zelda’s Kosher Gourmet catered an awesome Italian feast at Congregation Beth Shalom! Delicious meatballs, Italian beef sandwiches, fantastic biscotti and eclairs! Need delicious kosher food for a crowd? Zelda’s delivers and your guests will enjoy!

The desserts here are great! The candy apples are great and you need at least 2 people to finish. It’s hard to stop at one brownie or raspberry bar. The breads are also good. Also nice is the shop has a great selection of chocolates. Why such a low rating? Zelda’s does catering now, and if you get more advanced than a bagel platter, the quality dramatically drops. The last catered event I went to, the salad was undressed and weird(strawberries, mangos, AND big chunks of red onion?). The salmon in puff pastry was mediocre(best part: the puff pastry). The green-bean side was pretty terrible. My recommendation: skip the main courses, go straight to dessert.

I did not have a good experience with Zelda’s. It started off bad when I walked into the store and waited LITERALLY10 minutes until one of the girls comes out and doesn’t say«I’m sorry you were kept waiting» or anything kind — she just stared at me. I ordered cupcakes for my brother in law’s birthday — and they were sitting out on the counter when I got there(and who knows how long before) and STALE! The vanilla frosting tasted like it had gone bad. It was embarrassing to say I got cupcakes from a bakery and they are hard and taste bad. And then I wanted to buy a cookie that said Happy Birthday, but the employee told me it had expired! So your cupcakes are stale and you’re displaying expired products??? Will not go again.

Maybe the shop looks cute, but the products is way overpriced for its quality! No matter what truffle flavor you order they all taste the same. The only reason you might like it is if you are kosher from birth and never tasted real not kosher chocolate truffles or kosher ones from great shops in Paris. The baking goods are even worse, all you can taste is sugar and well pronounsed baking soda. Too bad, we stuck with it! There is no discent kosher chocolate shoppes in Chicago area.

Everything tastes scrumptious here but the prices are a little high! The service was nice. I got raspberry and lemon tarts and man were they good

Needed kosher dessert for a bridal shower. Ordered the cupcakes. They were cute and«okay» — not out of this world. I understand my palate is probably more experienced and sophisticated than someone who only experiences«kosher». Our guests were happy and that’s what was important. I would not go out of my way.

Although this place is not easily accessible through the bus system, if you have a way to get there its totally worth it. On a warm Friday afternoon a couple of weeks ago, the girlfriend and I did a bit of schlepping around Skokie. The bus system’s closest stop was about 1.5 miles away, and we couldn’t even catch that bus. In total we made a couple of stops but walked about 4 miles around Skokie. We entered the store and I was definitely impressed. Its so hard to find a great kosher snack place by where I am from, so to see the selection in this place I was blown away. We tried all sorts of stuff, I just couldn’t help myself. Everything just looked so good, we had to try a little bit of everything. We had a couple of things from the pareve case, a few things from the dairy. I got some pareve oatmeal cookies, hamantoshen, and a giant Purim cookie. I am sure there is more than I am forgetting about too. The prices were very reasonable and most of the stuff was dated with a nice expiration date. Most things were good for 2 weeks, which is nice for fresh products, its not normally that long. I am not sure if it was worth the 4 miles walking, but I definitely plan on ordering from their website in the future.

So, I really, really love ordering online for Zelda’s, so imagine my excitement when we had the chance to actually GO to Zelda’s in Skokie! We schlepped, quite a ways, to get here, so I was kind of disappointed when we actually got to the store. The selection at the store pales, massively, in comparison to the online selection. They didn’t have a lot of the Purim cookies they have online(I wanted the hamantaschen cookie!), and the store was pretty small for what I’d expected. But it was bright, clean and the staff was definitely friendly. The food, of course, is delicious. The cookies are always fresh, no matter when you eat them, and the hamantaschen was outstanding. I had a little coconut truffle, and that was outstanding. Was it worth the schlep? Not really. I’ll keep ordering online and enjoying the confections, though!

I am either shrinking or Zelda is making me really fat LOL. I don’t go often because I have no self discipline. I want«one of everything». My sister goes a lot because she says the shop is «cute and cozy». She gets designed cookies for my little brother there and those are about the only cookies he will eat. Parking can be a pain but if you live within walking or biking distance, its not a problem at all.

This is the place for chocolate lovers who are lactose intolerant. I have tasted the best dairy free handmade chocolates/truffles at Zelda’s sweet Shoppe. You will not be able to tell the difference and wouldn’t not find anything better. A Kosher confectionery that makes handmade truffles, cookies, chocolate covered dried fruits and carries a variety of nuts and such as well. All her chocolate and baked items are made within the premises will meet and exceed all your sweet tooth requirements. A cute little shop in the middle of skokie, there’s plenty of street parking here. I make a 20 minute drive here at least twice a month and the truffles are worth every moment of it. Enjoy!

This Kosher bakery is adorable! Zelda’s whips up chocolates, cookie cakes, cookie bouquets and lots of other treats. Their decorated cookies are really exquisite, and come in many shapes and designs. We bought bride and groom decorated cookies for an anniversary, and I bought a tie-dye t-shirt cookie just cuz it was cute looking(and I have been called a hippie in my day, or «mother nature’s bitch,» but, I digress…) Some of their goodies are sold at the Jewel on Howard. I have purchased their cupcakes a couple times and they are so adorable and delish, I can hardly believe they are parve(non-dairy). If you want to impress an observant Jew, a lactose-intolerator, or any appreciator of fine baked goods, Zelda’s is the place to be.
