Interstate All Battery Center

I purchased an Interstate car battery with a 75 month warranty. I was told at the time I bought it that the warranty would be honored at ANY Interstate battery dealer, so I paid more for this product because you never quite know when a battery might die.
Unfortunately, 45 months later, the battery won’t consistently hold a charge and the auto parts store where I bought it is out of business. So I go to a local automotive repair shop who is an Interstate dealer and he tells me he can’t do anything because he’s «independent» and cannot honor their warranty. He directs me to an office in Skokie that is a corporate office for Interstate and tells me I should explain my situation to them to see what they can do. And by the way, he says, the warranty has changed since I bought the battery, so there won’t be a replacement unless I pay X-​amount per month, etc, etc. and it looks like it will cost me more than a new battery someplace else. So much for Interstate’s warranty…
Bottom line — I’m really annoyed both with the early failure (my car is very well maintained and I don’t do things that would stress the battery like leaving lights on, jumping other cars, etc.) and this apparently worthless warranty. When I bought a 75-​month battery, I expected it would last somewhere close to that period. And who arbitrarily changes a warranty after a product is already sold? Is this even legal?
Bottom line, I dumped the Interstate battery and went to Costco. Got one cheaper and with a 36-​month FREE replacement and a warranty that continues after that. No more Interstate batteries for me.

Went into this shop thinking I just needed a Battery for my key fab. Jeff came out right away a greeted me and asked me how he could help. He opened up my fab and told me I didn’t need a battery that one of the connections was loose. He went into the back room fixed it in 5 mins and I was on my way. Great help and great prices. Every since then when ever I need a battery I know to go see Jeff great Customer Service!
