We have been here multiple times throughout the year, as we usually crave some pad thai or curry every once in a while. While the food is quite good, the service is something that needs to be improved. I don’t know if the servers are like this with everyone, but I’m going to assume it’s because we are a younger crowd that they treat us with attitude and give us sass — something that definitely should be changed. Just because we are younger does not justify poor service — i am about to major in hospitality and that is just a poor mindset to have if your default is to treat younger ones with distaste. Anyways, besides my rant, I usually get the yellow curry despite my intolerance to spiciness(i ask them for least spicy as possible except once i’m pretty sure they just ignored my request and did standard spiciness). Stan always gets pad thai of some sort. Basically, food is alright, service is poor — but ambiance is nice and décor is comforting and clean. Will probably be back every now and then as it is local. ~Amanda

Excellent choice for some a quick lunch during the week! I am impressed with the factory approach to serving the food and getting in and out, especially, during the week when we are all hard pressed for time. The food is pretty ok, Americanized Thai Food, and service is consistent. If you are looking for authentic Thai Food experience, this may not be the top choice… And last but not the least, this is the most recent Ricky’s Thai among a series of operations in the area and probably the most spacious and nicest from ambiance stand point.

I’ve been here several times for lunch. I can always count on quick service which makes it an ideal choice to ensure that I make it back to work in a timely fashion. This is one of the nicest and biggest Ricky’s Thai I’ve been to. The bathroom is even super clean which I appreciate. The food is consistently good. My favorites are the Thai Iced Tea, Red curry and Mango sticky rice. I also really like the Pad Prik King from the specials menu. The only reason they are not getting 5 stars is that the server we typically get(a tall male) is not very friendly or personable. He barely ever smiles and even sometimes comes across as rude. If the service was a bit better from that standpoint, they’d get a 5 from me.

I’m not a spicy food person. The minimal spicy level on their curry is too spicy for me. But the curry portion and pad Thai portion are huge. The tastes are good. I usually go to this place when I just want some comfort food. I also find their salad is a bit too pricy for whatever they put on the plates.

Pathetic service, average food. As some of the reviewers noted earlier, we were completely shocked by the service from the person at the front desk. We tried to look past the rude behavior on entry, but the same person(manager/front desk) questioned us, on the way out, for the amount of tip(11% as the service was bad) that was left on the bill. As for the food, we ordered the duck appetizer(the flavor was very nice, but the duck itself was not good), Mas-a-Mun curry(very nice) and a soup(average). Certainly not worth the price. We did not order dessert. Would not be a bad place for takeouts. For dine-in, there are much better Thai places around the Princeton area, where they value your business.

Excellent wait staff and very knowledgable. They’re very honest about their spice levels and whether or not you can comfortably handle it. Amazing and delicious curries, coconut rice and mek grab! Highly recommend.

I love Thai food, so a friend of mine that works in Skillman, suggested we meet here for lunch today. Boy, am I happy that she did! We met at 11:30, because the place gets fairly packed from noon on with the lunch crowd. Before we even ordered our food, they provided us with small salads with Peanut dressing. I have not tasted a better peanut dressing(and I’ve had a lot of Peanut dressings in my time). Many times these dressings are watered down, but this was thick and flavorful, yet not too sweet. I need the recipe, because it was so good. We both ordered the Pad Cashew. I ordered it with Chicken and my friend ordered it with Shrimp. We got spice level 3 and 4, respectively. It was delicious! The food was flavorful, spicy, fresh, good portion size, and the price was reasonable for lunch($ 8.95−9.95). I just wish it was a little closer to where I live, but I can’t wait to go back again for dinner and try more things off their menu!

Came here after a movie on Saturday night. It was rather late, about 9:20, but there were still some people eating dinner and restaurant is opened until 10:30. I had never eaten dinner inside the restaurant before. I only ordered food out one time previously. I was very impressed with the Décor and the feeling inside the restaurant. It was a very classy feel. The waitress came over immediately and opened our bottle of wine. We ordered a special duck appetizer to start with before looking at the menu for our main entrées. It was crispy duck and veggies in a yummy sauce which was delicious. There were so many choices on the menu and we ordered two entrées to share. One of them was the pad see eue with beef. Broad noodles with bro ok in a delicious brown sauce. Yum. The other was another duck dish ped Chiangmai which was also great. You get to choose your spicy/hot level from 1 – 5 for all dishes which is great. We chose 3 which was perfect. The food, service and am induce was fabulous. Will def be back. See photos.

This place is good for big crowds. My family goes here when my grandparents are in town. The ambiance is pleasant and the service is great, the food comes out really fast. It’s also byob which I really like. However, if your looking for good quality Thai food, this isn’t the place to go to. The quality of Thai food isn’t up to par with other Thai restaurants I’ve been to. It isn’t as authentic. Green curry– lots of coconut milk used, however lacks some salt to taste Full fish of the day– good but VERY sweet. I wold suggest this dish for big crowds so you don’t get overwhelmed with the sweetness. Tom Yum Soup– If you come here, DON’T get this. It’s really not worth it. It tastes like they just used paste and water and boiled veggies. There’s no great flavor to this soup. Stay away from this. Pad Thai– your average Pad Thai, probably a 7⁄10. Pretty good if your hungry and want a quick fix with a lot of food. Over all, this place is good for a dinner with coworkers or big parties. The portions are generous and the service is good. However, the quality of food isn’t amazing.

Decidedly average. I went here recently with two others after being informed of an hour-plus wait at another area restaurant. Since my companions for the meal were both keen on Thai cuisine, I consulted Unilocal and identified the Montgomery outpost of Ricky’s Thai. I had previously visited the Hillsborough location and came away with a similar impression: satisfied, but not overly impressed. Upon entering, we were rather curtly told to have a seat in the waiting area by a man who appeared to be the manager. I didn’t particularly appreciate his surly attitude and am not sure why he acted as he did. That we were treated rudely at the door left a bad taste in my mouth that probably colored my evaluation of the rest of the dining experience. Thankfully, things improved once we were finally seated. I couldn’t decide what to order from their very extensive menu(seriously though — there must be around 100 dishes on there, which is quite impressive), so I went with the chicken pad Thai. Unimaginative, I know, but that’s how I roll. It was tasty, though excessively salty and greasy. You could tell it was not a healthy dish to be eating and really called the quality of the ingredients into question. My companions seemed to enjoy their Tamarind duck and curry dishes, probably more so than I enjoyed the pad Thai. Décor is very nice and you can tell they have invested a lot of time and effort into making the restaurant exude a classy and upscale vibe. Service was good, apart from the poor encounter with the individual at the front desk. Prices were reasonable enough for the area(i.e. higher than you might find in other areas but pretty standard for around Princeton). I do not think the price was justified by the average quality of the food, however. I have received far better Thai food at other restaurants and at fairer prices, no less. Overall, Ricky’s Thai is not a bad option if you’re in the immediate area and looking for Thai cuisine, but I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to have a meal here. I would rate the restaurant 2.5 stars if I could, but assigning it 2 stars as I would not consider returning.

My experience here is hit or miss. I’ve done pick up three times now. The person in the front never smiles and is so unenthusiastic. Today I ordered a large Tom yum soup. 12 bucks for a large soup is a little much. The soup was mostly filled with mushrooms and onions, not a lot of soup. The shrimp was looked so unappetizing I decided against eating it. I’ve ordered the pad Thai and red curry previous times. Both were good but not worth the price I paid. They fill their dishes with veggies which make the prices unfair.

One of the better Thai food restaurants in the area with the cleanest and nicest décor I have seen in any Thai restaurant. However, I’m giving this restaurant 3 stars based on the service. The first time I took my parents here my dad mentioned to me that he really enjoyed the food, but it would’ve been even better if he got a booth seat. So the next time we went, last week, we were being seated at a table again so before we sat down, I politely asked the waitress if we could sit at a booth instead. She said«no,» left the menus at the edge of the table and walked away before we could even begin taking off our coats. We sat down and I was trying to figure out why she refused because there were only three other parties in their restaurant, and I realized that all the booth tables only seated a party of 2 and we had a party of 3. I feel that she could have a) put two tables together so we could have a booth(as it was not a busy day evidenced by the fact that the waitresses were sitting around together chatting while splitting peas for the kitchen) OR b) she could have simply explained to us why she could not give us a booth rather than abruptly walking away. My other visits to the restaurant did not have very good service either — well, it wasn’t bad service, but it wasn’t good either. I chose to overlook it those times because the food was good, but now I’d rather go a little further to a Thai restaurant that has welcoming staff.

Pretty solid thai– definitely nice ambiance. The service and food came out VERY fast. Specials are VERY well-priced given portions and the interior. Their spice ratings are spot-on… a 3 is really a 3⁄5 in spice so that’s a good place to begin, I think, especially if your own cuisine is spicy(I’m southeast asian so 3 or 4 was a good place to start). Favorites were drunken noodles, pad thai, and red curry. They also did a mango shrimp dish which was nice, but we couldn’t see any mango but we were able to taste it. Their Thai iced teas were also solid. The coconut brule was a nice ending, as was the fried bananas– wish they had fried ice cream! I would definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

First time here tonight and we’ll be back! We ordered: Curry Puff Pad See Eww with Squid Pad Woon Sen with Chicken Thai Ice Tea The curry puff was nothing to write home about… we liked that you can see each individual ingredient, but it lacked flavor /taste and then all the filling started to fall out and we lost interest. The Pad See Eww was ok, the squid was meaty so that was a plus. They over did it on the sauce — the sweet soy sauce kinda ruined it for me as the whole dish tasted too sweet. I did appreciate the abundant amount of Chinese Broccoli that was in the dish. Pad Woon Sen was the big rock star dish of the night! Probably the best we’ve ever had! Terrific flavor and every bite packed a punch! We got it with chicken and the meat was very tender. Thank you for making such a wonderful dish! Thai Ice Tea — I typically don’t bother with the beverages, but it was delicious! We ordered 2, at different times, made by different servers and both times — they aced it. Thanks! Dining experience was very enjoyable. Great décor and we liked the halloween decorations :) See you soon!

Very good Thai food and awesome dining experience. I love every single bite of my food! We ordered the honey puff for the appetizer. The puff wrap was delicious and so was the sauce. I couldn’t stop eating and had to try really hard not to lick off my plate LOL. The two entrees we got were the green curry with chicken and a stir fried thick rice noodle dish with shrimp. Both tasted great! My only complaint is probably that I didn’t get enough rice to go with my curry!

Been here a few times and very good and authentic thai food in Princeton. The food is very consistent and always tastes the same when I come which is good. Waiters are all thai and they are very attentive. I had the lunch specials with the family(Pad Thai, Red Curry, Green Curry) and all were exceptionally good. Décor is very modern and classy(business, date, or a family night out). It’s BYOB. Don’t forget there’s a liquor store across the street next to Shop Rite!

I really enjoyed my trip to Ricky’s Thai. Considering the lack of decent Thai food in Princeton, I had to expand my location search to find this place. The interior décor was really classy and intimate enough for a nice date place. The bathrooms are super clean too. We ordered the Pad Kee Mao and the Green Curry in a medium spice. You can choose the level of spice you want — 1 through 5. Both of the dishes were really good. I always appreciate a restaurant that is generous with meats and vegetables, especially with noodle dishes. We also ordered the Curry Puffs. They are similar to Indian Samosas but they’re flatter and in a crescent shape. Those were just okay. It’s not a dish that can be made fresh, so it’s probably reheated. The sweet mango sauce was just okay as well; it tasted like sweet and sour with fruit in it. Wait staff was decent. While I was there, someone had a birthday, and they got cake and they played ‘Happy Birthday’ over the speakers!
