I received terrible treatment from the owner of this establishment. Be aware, if you book a reservation they WILL charge you the full price if you cancel. I pleaded with the owners because I had to cancel for extenuating circumstances, but she refused and charged me the full price. I was treated coldly and harshly; I am a young professional and truly don’t have money to burn(my original reservation was for a friend’s wedding), but it did not matter whatsoever. I’m so surprised that an owner in a small town at a small B&B would treat people this way, but she chose to treat me without any sense of decency or kindness. If she had been accommodating, I would have made every effort to stay there another time and recommend to my friends — unfortunately I’m left without money and with a terrible mistrust in the people who run the Benjamin Porter House.

The master suite was amazing. The bed was very comfortable and the bathtub with jets was so relaxing after a long day of kayaking!

Wonderful Bed and Breakfast. We were lucky to be the only one’s there, but I think it’s often much busier. Beautiful, comfortable bed; great bathroom with jacuzzi tub. Breakfast was excellent and the owners found a good balance of friendliness, while leaving us on our own as appropriate. Couple of minor notes: the place is near a church bell, which goes off all night every half hour, so if you’re a light sleeper, be warned. Also, the room we were in was not for the clumsy – we were careful and fine, but there was a low hanging chandelier near the bed and sitting down on the toilet, you had to be careful – the cement wall sticks out just so that if your not careful, you’ll slam your head into it. Again, for the vast majority of people, this shouldn’t be an issue.
