Came here for the sushi and was amazed at the quality of the sashimi. Ben, the chef suggested I have lemon on my mackrel and it was AMAZING!! The service was also friendly and welcoming I ordered the sashimi dinner and it was an awesome deal and quality meal. I am in town for business and will most def be paying Ben another visit before I leave.

The Food tasted good and the staff was amazing! We had sake bombs and the filet mignon and lobster teppanyaki were tasty: all the sides were decent and I ended up with a happy and full belly. I didn’t try the sushi, so the review is for the Japanese steakhouse.

It’s Sioux City, no Manhattan Beach, CA. The food is good, service prompt, & the place was clean. Best sushi I’ve ever had, of course not. I’m in town on business and wanted some sushi and they did not disappoint. What more can you ask for.

Been here quite a number of times. Very good food. Great atmosphere. The biggest down falls seems to be short handed more times than not. Overall 4.5 out of 5.

The service is soooo slow. We almost left after 15 – 20 mins of being seated with no waitress visiting our table. She showed up just as we were getting up to leave. We only ordered sushi and waited for over an hour for the food to arrive. The waitress kept asking us questions that she should know such as «you still haven’t gotten your sushi yet?» Does it look like you served us our sushi? Then later she asked us if we remembered everything we ordered. The food is okay but not worth the long wait.

Service is absolutely ridiculous. I called to order a to go order and they told me I wasn’t allowed to order because they were too busy and they didn’t feel like taking my order. Then he said«try tomorrow».

I was looking for a sushi place to try tonight. They didn’t have sushi on the menu. I Sony like hibachi grills and that’s what this is. I was very disappointed.

We went back to Tokyo to try their sushi for the first time. We waited at the door 15 minutes before being seated, even though there were plenty of tables and room everywhere. We initially chose to sit at the sushi bar. It was loud, dirty, chaotic, and quite frankly gross. A worker in uniform kept rolling her baby through the restaurant, kitchen and sushi bar. We asked to be moved to a table, and were accommodated immediately. My husband and I have different tastes, so we don’t typically share sushi rolls, we order our own. They served our sushi 1 roll at a time, taking at least 5 minutes in between both rolls. My husbands were served first, so he was done before mine even came. His were served with wasabi and ginger, but mine had none. My spicy salmon roll was a mess, and looked pretty gross. The salmon was very inconsistently minced/chopped. Not impressed with the sushi part of this restaurant at all.

Great food prepared personally in front of you by a Japanese hibachi chef. If you prefer sushi they have the best in Sioux City. This is a fun place to meet friends and family.

I was just passing through Sioux City and decided to give this place a try. The staff was very friendly and pleasant. The restaurant clean. We had a bit of everything and all was delicious. I would recommend.

Service is never consistent, some days are okay and some days are slow. The atmosphere is okay, and the food is good. I still come for the sushi.

Wow do you get your money’s worth. It’s a little on the expensive side, but it’s delicious. I go about once a year for a birthday or something. Been now, 5 times? Amazing sushi and the cook is always entertaining. Leftovers are the BEST part. I just don’t recommend bringing your kids. That has been the only negative side to my experiences. The kids running around, crying, no kids menu/entertainment, etc. makes it not ideal for them. I recommend bringing a group of 8 so you get a table to yourselves!!!

Overall, fun and great atmosphere. Came here with the gang and enjoyed some Sakebombers(Ichi, Ni, San — sake sake sake bomber!!!) If you were there that night you’ll know what I’m talking about! Overall, service was excellent our teppanyaki chef was both very good and showing. One was very talkative and hilarious. He kept us entertained with his cooking skills, but also his personality. The food was okay at best, but I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it. Sushi looked pretty simple. Can’t complain since I had so much fun and definitely recommended since Japanese food and sushi is rare thing in SC from what I can see. — Enjoy!

I’m giving this restaurant 2-stars instead of just 1 because, well, I sort of knew what I was getting into upon first entering — a cheap rendition of «Benihana’s»(but NOT cheap in terms of cost, just a poor knockoff). But I thought, «hey! those places can be kind of fun and the food isn’t half bad for Americanized-Japanese food», so I was actually kind of looking forward to the experience. To make this easier to read, I’ll record my issues in bullet format. But first, the pros: + quickly seated + prompt service + the fried rice was tasty + the«angel hair» noodles were tasty + the veggies were well cooked + the show/tabletop cooking was decent enough + my boyfriend’s parents liked it Now, the cons: — my boyfriend’s parents have little if ANY experience with proper Japanese food — the fried rice and noodles were super greasy and taste the same — the soup: not even miso, but chicken broth with some small flakes of mushroom. And by chicken broth, I mean it tasted like instant chicken broth powder. — the noodles: WTF. You can’t get ANY kind of Asian noodle? Japan makes awesome noodles. ALLOFASIA has some form of awesome, inexpensive noodle. WHYDIDYOUHAVETOGIVEUSANGELHAIR?! Our«stir-fried noodle» tasted like regular Italian pasta with soy sauce. Because, well, it was. FAIL. — TAMAGOSUSHI(aka«egg sushi»). Biggest fail of the night. FROZEN. THEEGGWASFROZEN. LIKE, SMALLPIECESOFICEINITFROZEN. Unacceptable. — the sake was the nastiest sake I’ve ever tasted, and I’ve had A LOT of sake. It tasted like old Geikkekan or Hakutsuru, which is already the crappiest of the crap to begin with. And that was even hot, which is supposed to MASK some of the crappy cheapness. — my «hibachi chicken» tasted just like any old mall food court Japanese food… except food court Japanese food doesn’t cost $ 16. Seriously, I get it. Sioux City doesn’t have much in terms of ACTUAL authentic Japanese food. But that DOESNOTMEAN Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse should rip off its customers who are naïve to proper Japanese food SOBLATANTLY and at such a HIGHCOST. What it is doing is wrong on so many levels. I hope someone opens up something similar that actually serves GOOD quality, at least somewhat authentic Japanese food so this place will close.

We skipped the salad and soup course. We had 3 different sushi rolls that were very good. We also had the filet mignon with shrimp. Delicious! The filet melted in our mouth. Service is mediocre and we were served expired beer… not so good. Our Chef wasn’t as entertaining as the younger one. Beer was expired.
