Hoops and Hops, often referred to as Hoops, is a small bar packed with plenty of good beer, food, and service. Hoops offers 12 different draft beers, rotated often for maximum variety, along side a very large cooler full of over 75 variety of bottled beer. With a fully stocked bar and a knowledgable line up of bartenders, cocktails are in abundance for all occasions. The menu at hoops is offered right off the same selections of adjoining restaurant, Antonio’s Family Restaurant, and there are two menus to choose from. If you arrive prior to 9pm you can order off the full menu(10 pm on Friday and Saturday) and a smaller late night menu is offered every night until last call. The food is delicious sober or not. The hot oven grinders(sandwiches for you non New Englanders) are packed every time with fresh veggies and meat. The pizza dough is made daily and the taste proves that every time. Though the food prices are a little steep(which is why I give Hoops 4 stars) but the portions and quality are worth the price. Service at Hoops is what is to be expected anywhere else. When they are slow the bartenders are prompt and when they are busy you will probably wait a bit longer than you want. The bar is never understaffed and the drinks are always good. Asking a bartender for their signature shot or drink can be a great way to discover new drinks. I particularly enjoy a few amenities Hoops offers as well… Pool tables, darts, juke box, pinball, foosball table, 10 large tv’s for plenty of sports, Nintendo wii, and many more fun activities. There is a monthly calendar with many exciting events every month. A great place to be with your friends!

Went back again and food, drinks and music was still good. This time had the nachos. Very good but I should have read the menu better. I hate black olives and they were are over them. The salsa was delicious. Don’t know if they make it fresh but it didn’t taste like it came from a jar. Back porch was nice too. Only reason not giving it the 5th star is because it really needs a décor update. Not a place I would proudly introduce to friends unless I’m taking them to see a band that’s playing there. Still like being able to eat, drink, listen to live music and play board games. Big plus — no cover for live music.

Not going to repeat everyone’s reviews. — in a nut shell, unless your homeless, there are a lot better places. Food served till 1230 pm. Not bad… But the prices are ridiculousness. Was with a co worker who told me during football season the wings were awesome! $ 11.95 for 10 wings… This scared me. Plus a $.55 cent add for the hotter wings. These things come out nothing close to hot and totally dried out from being in the oven. This place has no idea what they are doing. The girl actually had to get the sauce and I had to explain that putting them in the oven burns and sauce off so there was no flavor. The kid who made them was at the bar and said he would try that next time… how about right now! Ugh waste. Coslaw was bland. Had the fried pickles. Those were not bad. Spent way too much for garbage. Never again

It will take you 20 minutes to get a drink even when there are 5 people in the place and 3 bartenders. Not even exaggerating.

It’s a(dive?) bar in the middle of nowhere, Connecticut. Food is pretty good, drinks are a little stronger than you might expect, it’s not super clean, but it’s not exceptionally seedy either. Bartenders are friendly, quick with your drinks, and open to suggestions. Beer is cold, and the patrons are friendly if you are brave enough to sit down and start a conversation. There’s pool for a dollar a game, and a few arcade games. Tables and games are rarely all full. Bartenders will give you cash off of your card and add it to your tab if you didn’t bring any. Don’t put on your fancy shoes for this place, but if you’re looking for a cheap place to kick back without a cover, douchey bouncer, or snobby atmosphere, stop on by. Protip: The pool table further from the bar is slightly off balance. It’ll throw your whole game off. ;)

I give it 3 stars because the service here has been good the few times I have been there. Bartenders are friendly, accommodating, and quite speedy. That’s pretty much the highlight of this whole establishment. The whole place is filthy, and makes you feel dirty just by walking through the door. Their bathrooms are tiny, and so gross I actually considered going outside instead. I understand that this place is kind of a «dive bar» but I don’t think dirty and sketchy have to go hand in hand with a place being a «dive». To give an example of something I just couldn’t believe I was actually witnessing, was their choice in what can only be categorized as a «container» to hold the pretzels. There where 2 or 3 of them in the bar. What were they you ask, they where large plastic dog food dispensers. Maybe they thought it was clever or cute, it isn’t, it looks ghetto. Quite frankly, it’s pretty gross to think about when the little bowl on the bottom gets empty people are digging their hands inside to get more pretzels to come out. As for the crowd, «interesting» is a polite way of putting it. For the most part everyone looked to be under 30 with a few exceptions, and kind of like the kids your parents told you were trouble when you were younger. People got pretty drunk, pretty vulgar and pretty rowdy. This place falls into its very own category of bars.

Good beers usually on tap and a decent selection of bottles. Average prices. Food is good. Cobb salad is huge. Pool tables, air hockey, jukebox. Its a bar. Don’t get dressed up.

This establishment is known to some in the area as «Hoops and Broken Dreams». This is due to some serious riff-raff that you might see in this place. There are some d-bags in this bar especially on the weekends, but for the most bar it’s a regular bar with decent people. Not the least seedy establishment I have seen, but not too bad. They have really good food happy hour specials weekdays from 4−7pm. Although I have not tried them, as I arrived a touch too late, they are super cheap. Since their food is always pretty good, I would assume the happy hour food is good too. You can get a slice of cheese for less than a buck. Not bad at all. I wouldn’t reccomend this place, but I would go back.
