Things Remembered

Don’t use them for your Things Remembered. I got married the last Friday of April and let me tell you if getting all that together in 2 days was not stressful enough this store will be the straw the breaks the camel’s back. I stopped in there in the morning, (and please it is in the Simi Town Center which is a ghost town) to buy my groom a gift for our wedding day. I selected a pocket watch and the sales girl «wasn’t sure if she could find the key». Upon opening the case, the clerk admitted she was new and I told her that I hoped she at least knows how to engrave. She told me she did not but that someone who did would be in, in about 20 mins. I asked how long from there it would take to do and she says and I quote, «Keep in mind engraving LASTS up to 1 ½». Lasts? You mean it comes off? LOL I think she meant takes. I explained I was getting married in a few hours and asked if they could do it right away. She agreed and I should be able to pick it up in 1 to 1 ½ hours. So I ran other errands and gave it about 1 ½ hours. When I walked in the same ditzy sales person looked at me and had already forgotten my face and blankly asked if she could help me. So I say «Is it ready?» and she looks at he and says, «What did you have?» I was amazed in that short time she had no clue. I said the pocket watch? She informs me that the engraver has just recently showed up and was just starting on my order. So I ask «How long until it is finished?» And she again says «keep in mind the engraving lasts 1 ½ to 2 hours» Okay? But if she just started mine and I only had two names and the date 4.25.2014 being engraved and it’s going to take that long? I told her I could not wait and I had to get to my wedding and I would have to pick it up another time, I was so upset because I wanted my husband to have it when we said our «I do’s».
We picked it up that evening and when I expressed how angry I was over the situation the evening clerk let me know that «The manager had gone home sick in the morning leaving a new employee who had absolutely no idea how to do anything alone.» I have many years of management and retail management experience and I must say this should have never happened, As the manager this person should have stayed in the office with their head on the desk if they had to until someone competent could arrive.
My family and I have been giving our business to Things Remembered for the last 15 years or so and never had a problem with any other locations and engraving has never TAKEN more that about 15 mins !

The worst experience!
First, we went in to get my girlfriends dad a gift for Christmas. The girl was less than interested in helping us; but was quick to try and upsell us and ended up ringing up the wrong bracelet (a woman’s). The next day we came in and the engraving was completely wrong and made us come back an hour later. After we complained to another employee all she could say was a half assed «sorry.» I will never use this company again.
