My wife and i were staying within walking distance of Rich and Richer last Tuesday so we walked there for lunch. I had their Red Curry Chicken with brown rice and my wife had the Cashew Nuts with chicken and brown rice. Some of the best Thai curry ever. My wife loved her dish too. I had tried to order Chicken Satay but they were out at lunch so we went back for dinner. The owner, MJ, took a special order for the satay and we had pineapple fried rice and the grilled beef salad. All were excellent. Listen to MJ when he talks to you about the level of spice in his dishes and try his«special spice» if you can. MJ is truly one of a kind and adds fun and charm to the place. Can’t wait to go back.

Food is cooked very healthy. Very good overall. The owner is very peculiar though. He closes the door an hour before the closing time he advertises and will lock his door if he sees you coming. He told a customer in front of us that he didn’t need they’re business because she asked too many questions about a dish that he saw her order a week earlier. He told is she should know what the dish was and didn’t have time for too many questions from customers like her. Also, If you ask for white rice, he will bring you brown rice and tell you it’s better for you. I’d rather eat at Exotic Thai or Thai Cottage because the food is comparable and you don’t have the uncomfortable vibe to deal with. He used to be very congenial, now he is very grumpy. But like I said, food is good.

Ever since I moved to the Bay Area, I miss this place. The owner is a hoot and the food is fantastic. My favorites are the green curry and anything recommended. Just mind your manners and be patient. Sometimes they get busy and close down but you can always go back.

Read & heard from family about this place and its owner – that he was rude, loud, would actually turn u away – but that the food was great. I admit I was intrigued & had to try it. The place was small, not too many tables and just as well because it was truly run by a 2-man operation – husband(MJ) was host, server, busboy and his wife was the cook. No wonder the guy didn’t like having customers(he told me as much, lol) and I DID see him tell others that he was busy & they couldn’t stay! So on with the food… had the Rich Richer Green Beans & Broccoli combo; veggies were fresh & the flavor… wow! Also had both Garlic Beef AND Garlic Chicken… excellent! Finally I had one of my fave Thai dish, Pad Woon Sen(glass noodles) with Chicken… the BEST I’ve ever tasted! I don’t think I’ll ever be able to have this anywhere else again. You can taste the freshness and the quality of the ingredients in their food. You can see the pride of ownership on MJ’s face too. I admire the fact that he does not compromise anything for quality & taste. And whoever said that MJ was rude & offensive? No way! Loud? Yes, but funny as hell, cracking jokes all the time & would banter back & forth with everyone. He even pulled out his smartphone to show me the bad Unilocal reviews on him! LMAO! Maybe I’m one of the lucky ones & he just liked me but who cares? The food was fantastic & I would definitely drive all the way back to Simi Valley to revisit this Thai gem.

Taste buds officially blown. The food was amazing but the entertainment watching the owner was 10 stars. Bring your manners and wait to be told where to sit!

Best Thai in town. The owner is a funny guy. He treats his customers like family. He is always cracking jokes. Apparently they buy all the food at the farmers market fresh daily. It’s probably why they only have a short lunch a small dinner window to serve you. But I will take that any days cause I have yet to have a bad meal here. Great food, nice owner and just an all around food experience.

We drove to Simi Valley to check out some wedding venues and stopped by Rich and Richer for lunch. The place is unassuming but the food and host are fantastic. The husband and wife duo are a great team. Thai host jokes around and is a friendly energetic person. We had the Thai ice tea, chicken pad thai, and pan panang curry. All were delicious and well priced. Delicious food, affordable price, and friendly atomsphere. What a pleasant surprise at an unassuming place at a corner of a strip mall.

Great food! The owner is a character. The reviewers saying he’s rude, obviously don’t have a sense of humor. Will definitely be going back on a regular basis. Be warned, the medium is still very spicy.

Just experienced our first time. The owners(a husband-and-wife team) definitely take pride in their food. The one thing to note is that«medium» is still very spicy!

My wife and I tried this place last night for the first time despite some of the negative reviews. I was just so curious and wanted to check it out, and boy, good thing I did. We had a wonderful experience here. Mr. MJ might seemed intimidating at first, but he actually is a very nice guy. I did not experience any of the bad service they mentioned on the other reviews. Maybe they are just unfamiliar with Asians in general. Most asians may not smile a lot like the staff at Dennys or Applebees, but they will make sure you get the best tasting food. The food here tastes really great without MSG or cheap oil. He actually buys dried peppers imported from Thailand. You can actually taste the high quality ingredients in their dishes. We’ll be back for sure.

I have been here twice now. I read the reviews prior to going and I have friends that have eaten here, raved about the food and«warned»(lol) me about the owner. He is actually a really nice guy that cares about his food and your experience. The uninitiated, or those without a sense of humor may be caught off guard, but once you get to know him… you find out he is actually very nice and a hard working small businessman. The food is delicious and the service prompt. The Mongolian Chicken is delicious. So good in fact, on my visit today, I placed a second order to go! Pay a visit with this in mind and you will enjoy your experience.

Had two orders of Pad Thai for takeout. Generous portions and excellent taste. Best I’ve had yet. The owner is knowledgable and shows true passion for his food. He was very friendly. I will be back!

HORRIBLE service!!! HEKICKED us out for moving the tables. He yelled at us and took away our menus. He was unbelievably rude and disrespectful and no one should waste their money at such a place. I can’t believe this place. Ps. They charge $ 2 for water

Walked in here, and the owner was talking crap about a customer to the entire place. It was very awkward. It’s a small place with only a few tables inside. He was pacing back and forth saying that he didn’t want them to eat there, and that food takes time to make and he doesn’t want their business and doesn’t want them coming around.(Apparently the person had placed a pickup order or from what I gathered.) Literally yelling in the restaurant to patrons that were sitting there. We walked in in the middle of this, asked if where to sit and he just threw down menus at a table and didn’t even acknowledge me. Nope, not happening. Walked out. He was incredibly rude and unprofessional, and its not a comfortable experience if the person who works there is yelling about other customers in yoru face when you’re trying to eat.

I to did not have the most pleasant experience at this restaurant tonight. It was my first time going there. I think everybody probably remembers the character in Seinfeld«The Soup Nazi». Well I think this gentleman could win the role it they ever bring back Seinfeld. I also believe the prices are a little high in my humble opinion. The dishes I got was OK. I’m not sure I bring my girlfriend to this place. This gentleman might emasculate me too much. Just saying :)

I was blown away b how amazing the food is here. MJ is a fantastic host and makes you feel welcome and knows how to take care of you. My friend Mike eats here almost every day of the week because it really is that good and a lot better for your health than most places. No MSG, no fillers or strange oils with names you can’t spell– just great food at great prices. Check out their Pad Thai and curries!

We just moved to this area and I love this guy! The old man makes great Thai food for a reasonable price and he’s the proud father of a Marine whose picture is right there on the counter. A great example of an American entrepreneur with pride and integrity! He’s going to get a lot of visits from us.

If I could, I would give Rich & Richer 10 stars. The food is absolutely delicious!!! And the owner, MJ, is wonderful. We have been going to R & R since he opened and we will always be his customers. He treats our daughter so well(she’s been going to his restaurant since she ways days old!!! She recommends the broccoli) and she adores him. He always makes sure we are taken care of. For those who say he is rude, or nasty… You all have no clue. He tells it like it is and doesn’t sugar coat stuff. He has always been great to us and treats us with respect as we do him. He knows his food. He tells me if I order something that I won’t like or will be too spicy for me. He makes everything to order and only uses the best Thai ingredients. If you haven’t tried Rich & Richer you need too. Oh! And go and check out his lunch specials… I discovered something delicious and it was because it was on the lunch menu.

This place is great. The guy who works there is hilarious, very friendly and talkative. My wife loves their pad thai and sometimes we stop by just for take-out. I love the thai ice tea as well. I enjoy having local restaurants like this one close-by!
