Great barber shop but it’s been closed two Saturdays in a row now. No sign posted and not answering the phone.

This is a great Barber Shop. Abe the owner is very skilled and very professional. If you’re looking for a good men’s barber shop that’s nothing fancy but cuts well this is your spot in Simi Valley. I come here all the time for a cut and fade with Abe. Come give them a try, you won’t regret it!

Abe has been cutting my hair since I was around 5 when my dad stopped doing my crew cuts, and I’m 51 now. Abe is the first chair for those of you counting chairs. He is a REAL pro and the real deal when it comes to a straight forward haircut. He is consistent and definitely does a great job every time. As mentioned in several reviews it is not a fancy place but always clean and neat. There is almost always a wait for Abe but I have never used any of the other barbers there. He gets through the line quickly so it never takes too long. If you have an errand to run while you’re waiting you can take a number and come back.

I’ve geen going to Mountain Gate(Larwin Square) barber shop since my first hair cut about 47 years ago. I know I am dating myself with the Larwin Square mention, but all the long time Simi residents will remember. I always say it is important to find a good doctor, dentist mechanic and barber. Mountain Gate Barber Shop is a great place to get a good hair cut. No frills or gimmicks, but an old fashion real barber. Abe is really great as is John. I took my son, who is now 12, there for his first hair cut and Abe posed with him for a great picture. If you are going for a hair cut on a Saturday, best to get there as early as possible or in the afternoon. It can get busy at times, but the barbers are efficient and do a great job!

These guys are the best! I found them by chance two years ago and now it’s the only place I go to get my haircut. They are located in The Mountain Gate Plaza, next to CVS and Valley Produce. The ambiance is not going to blow you away, but Abe and Al are pros!

$ 15 for a cut — I paid in cash and couldn’t tell if they accepted card. I went in for the first time on a Friday afternoon and there was a line of 3 ahead of me when I got there. It turned out that everyone was waiting for one specific barber so I got called right up by the other barber(there were a total of 3 barbers there when I arrived but one was getting off). All I needed was a trim and he did a great job, thinned out the middle poof I had going and cleaned up the sides and back perfect. We didn’t talk at all after discussing how I wanted my hair to be cut, which is what I prefer anyways; I was just able to zone out, relax, watch the news on the TV in-front of me and get my hair cut. not a bunch of awkward small talk. I only wish they did a straight razor shave for my neck at the end. that probably would have made my experience 5 stars. Overall a good experience and will be going back again.

After seeing the 5-star reviews, I was hopeful. The worst part about moving to a new place is finding a barber, and I’ve had bad luck so far. After four visits to Mountain Gate, I think I’ve had my last visit. Just three chairs, but I’ve had four different barbers, a different on each trip. The first chair always has a long wait, so I usually just opted for whatever was next. The haircuts were quick, usually under 15 minutes, and a flat $ 15 price. But I never felt like I had a great haircut. And my last haircut was almost a complete chop job, razor across the whole thing with hardly any scissor work. I really wanted to like this place, but after a bunch of visits, I think I’ve got to move on.

Great work & fast. Had a good line ahead of me but didn’t take long at all. Reasonable prices, worth it!

If your looking for a traditional, straight forward cut, this is the place. Two barbers at location. I like my hair to be clean cut from the top, to the sides. Very smooth fade… I will return for all my cuts now.

If you want a great, no-frills men’s cut, check out this barber shop. I’ve been coming here for 6 months now and have been content with the results. There’s no annoying radio station playing, no one is trying to push any«product» on you — just a bunch of barbers cutting hair all day long. A haircut costs $ 15, and that’s all she wrote. Try to go weekday mornings if you want to avoid the wait.

I’ve been going here since I was a kid and I can’t tell you how great this place is. Abe is a nice guy with an incredible gift of cutting hair. I can’t really recommend having my hair cut by the other barbers because I’ve had mixed results. Average haircut is about $ 15. I don’t go anywhere but here.
