I asked to have my long hair cut layered. Instead she cut it straight, and couldn’t even blow dry it to style it well. Will not be returning.

I haven’t gotten my hair done here, but I go to Tammy for my nails. She is just wonderful! She has flexible hours and is willing to work with your schedule, either opening early or staying late if needed, to accommodate her clients. She’s warm and friendly, and she does a great job with manicures, pedicures, acrylics, and waxing. HIGHLY recommended!

I called during business hours and left a message. Two days later and still no return call. This has happened more than once. I guess they don’t need my business and it’s time to find a new salon.

Finally – someone who I can trust to cut my hair! Jenny was recommended to me by two trusted friends, and they were right. She was professional, talented, and very thorough. I had my(very curly!) hair washed and cut expertly, followed by a gorgeous blow-out. I left the salon feeling confident and lovely. Jenny, you are a talented goddess, and I am yours for life.

I recently started having my haircut at Mirage, by Marisa. All I can say is, if you are going to get a haircut in Simi Valley, or even in a surrounding city please do yourself a favor and see her, men, women, senior or child, she does it all and she does a great job! I know because she cuts my hair, my wive’s hair, my sister in law’s hair and both of my daughter’s hair. She always does a great job and takes her time, instead of rushing like other stylists I’ve visited in the past. Cut or color, she’s the one to see. I read a review by a woman named Monica and I’m pretty sure she’s a nut job! Ignore her review, and see Marisa, you’ll be glad you did.

I love Aveda products, and use them exclusively … so after moving to Simi Valley recently, I went to the Aveda Salon here — Mirage. The first time(Oct ’12) was great … Linda cut my hair, understood exactly what I wanted and I loved it. 2nd visit — color — whoa! Marisa blew it! I’m a last minute person, so called on a Saturday morning and not surprisingly, Linda was unavailable. Hoping for an opening through some last minute cancellation, I asked the receptionist if an experienced colorist was available, otherwise, I’d schedule. She assured me Marisa could see me in an hour and was experienced. I had«virgin» hair, meaning I had not colored it in years(it’s naturally NOT gray) … it’s a medium brown, and I wanted multiple caramel colors as highlights. I used their magazines to show Marisa examples … she brought hair samples and I picked specific colors. Besides highlights, she suggested I color the whole thing. 3.5 hours later — my hair was significantly darker than it is naturally, except for white highlighted strands, which were uneven, heavy on the right side of my head, and barely visible on the left. It reminded me of a bundt cake with white frosting. It didn’t look embarrassing … it just looked too dark for my complexion, like I didn’t get it done professionally. It was rainy and dark on the day, and I was exhausted and hungry after being there 3.5 hours. I figured I’d see how it looked in the sun. Slightly better, but not really. So I returned on Tuesday(with my friend to witness) to tell Marisa the color is not what I asked for. She insisted it was … I asked her to hold the hair samples next to my hair, to show ITWASN’T … Marisa blamed my hair, saying it must be too porous. She offered to redo it — What I wanted was a partial refund so someone else could fix the color, but I reluctantly agreed to let her add«caramel highlights» around my face. I went to the Receptionist to schedule an appointment, and she said Marisa’s schedule was WIDEOPEN(alarm — doesn’t have any clients). I scheduled for Saturday at 10 am. I also left a message for Linda to call me; I thought the owner should be aware of this poor service. On that Saturday morning, I pulled into the parking lot when I was 11 minutes late, and the receptionist called and said Marisa was no longer available to do my hair at all that day and to reschedule. Wow! I drove to the nearby Target to pick up some items … upon leaving, I decided to revisit the salon to ask for a partial refund in person AGAIN instead of rescheduling. When I walked in, Marisa was sitting in her chair looking through a magazine … no client … the whole salon was busy except her. Because I’d worked in a salon moons ago, I realized she doesn’t have a regular clientele, not even on a Saturday morning! No client, just sitting there, but unavailable to do my hair! Again I asked for a partial refund, Marisa refused. Linda never returned my call. Besides paying for Marisa to practice, their service is unacceptable.

Another great Unilocal find! I was in town for a special party and wanted to get a nice blow out for the evening. I left an email request on the website on Thursday night and received an immediate response back that I would be contacted in the morning for an appointment. I received a call in the morning for an appointment at the time I requested. I arrived early at the salon and was immediately and warmly greeted by the woman who called me the day prior. Linda J. took me to her station, discussed what I wanted for my hair, what I was wearing and what type of party I was going to. I am not super particular — I just want a nice blow out so I left everything up to Linda. Great shampoo — I forgot how much I like the feel and scent of Aveda products. Linda did a fantastic job on my hair! She didn’t rush, we had a very nice chat about lots of things and I asked if she would tease the top of my hair which she did. My blow out looked GREAT! It was exactly what I had envisioned for the evening and it really, truly lasted. And I danced ALL night! I was really surprised how it lasted! If I am in the area again, I would definitely go back to this very nice salon and see Linda J.

Jia is the best. She’s experienced, skilled and fast. I tend to feel uncomfortable in salons because I am not a girly girl, but I feel very relaxed here because Jia is so down to earth. In addition to my regular haircuts, Jia did my hair for my wedding and pulled off a miracle. She got my hair to defy its natural tendencies for the entire evening. I felt beautiful and got tons of compliments. Her prices are reasonable, too.

Irene was very cool. I could always expect good results and attention to detail. She’s very good with men’s hair. Even on busy days, she never gave me the impression that she was rushing or taking short cuts. Right now, she’s at the top of my list all-around(taking into account price with performance because we know there are stylists that blow your mind but cost your arm and leg). Small, nice, friendly salon that’s not pretentious; tucked in between Baja and a donut shop. The parking is easy. Call in your appointments, avoid walk-ins. $ 25 for men’s cut is a bargain when I compare with the unpredictable cuts from chains.
