Just had dinner there and had a bad experience. Been a long time customer here and apparently they are under new owners. Had to repeatedly ask for the check and drinks. After both my BF and I getting all you can eat sushi, we asked our waitress for some green tea ice cream to go which she was happily to get for us. She disappeared and seemed what was the manager, refused to give it to us. He had bleached hair. Not good customer service there anymore. Won’t be returning here unfortunately.

If I could give no stars I would. It’s really a shame that new owners can destroy a great sushi bar. I was a long time loyal Hikari customer. Since the new owners have taken over it’s gone downhill quickly. After 3 failed visits I will never return. Many other regulars have all given up on this place as well and make the drive to the Hikari in Chatsworth, which is the original owner Johnny’s new place. Hats off to Johnny he really nows how to run a successful restaurant. Place is 100% on point from the food to the service. His staff is some of the best and most efficient I have seen. My final and last visit was the worst. There is a sushi chef who is tall bigger guy. He was busy goofing around with other employees cell phones while my order was just sitting being completely ignored. To make things worse he comes back to make my sushi without washing his hands after handling several peoples cell phones etc. I asked him to please wash his hands and I got full attitude from him. He then proceeded to talk sh*t about us laughing with the other chefs. It was very obvious and the people next to me also could not believe it either. There is another guy Eric maybe the owner not sure but he is a real piece of work the way he treats his staff and employees. Literally yells at people in the restaurant. The service is terrible had to ask for drink refills and to have empty plates removed. Otherwise you are ignored. The staff is busy screwing around ignoring customers. The food has gone downhill as well. Smaller portions more rice and quality of fish is not the same. Last trip the fish was really bad. Consider yourself warned. It’s worth your drive over the hill to the real Hikari and enjoy what the Simi location use to be.

Hikari used to be my fav sushi place. But after new management, I felt everything was going down hill. Rude staffs kept telling me to finished all my foods. They did three times. It was so rude to me I felt really uncomfortable. Won’t coming back again …。・°°・(>_<)・°°・。

This place has delicious sushi. You can’t really go wrong for $ 25.99 for all you can eat. It gets very crowded here sometimes so it may take a bit to get seated but well worth it.

I was treated like I was invisible… ***after talking to my brother and sister in law, it turns out we didn’t understand how the all you can eat sushi worked at the sushi bar. or at all actually. something that could have been solved with a less than 30 second explanation and a polite demeanor. However, when trying to give our order paper to someone for 5 minutes when they were walking by us close enough for me to touch(and I was holding out the paper and raising my hand, waving, saying excuse me, etc) still stands… ***** My brother and his wife come here all the time with friends. He’s been treated like a king. My father and I, however, had a completely different experience. We asked to be seated at the sushi bar, and we were seated at the very end. My father asked if we could order directly from the sushi chefs instead of filling out the order form for the all you can eat sushi which they give to the people seated at the tables. We were told that the sushi chefs don’t come down to the end of the bar where we were sitting. There were only two other people sitting at the bar, and they didn’t let us move. We weren’t treated well at all. I tried for over 5 minutes to get the attention of our waitress. Mind you, she walked by me about 15 times during those 5 minutes, and every other staff member walked by us as well. Nobody once asked us how we were doing. We wanted to order more sushi.(keep in mind that the end of the bar we were sitting by was next to the table where everyone was standing, sitting and taking their breaks). The restaurant was not busy so that’s not the excuse. In my book, there is no excuse for acting like your paying customers are invisible and unwanted. We finally got the attention of one of the sushi chefs who was just coming on to his shift. He was very kind and helpful. Unfortunately, it was too late. I will not be coming back. Being treated like shit cannot be redeemed by the wonderful sushi.

This place has really good sushi! Came in for dinner after a long day at Comikaze, we were staying in Simi Valley and was in the mood for sushi. We found this place via Unilocal, and it did not disappoint! The service was terrific! Friendly and attentive, and the chefs were great too! Bf and I did the all you can eat for a very reasonable price. And we ordered a ton of sushi. When you walk in it looks like your typical fast food seating and lighting, but we sat at the counter and it was perfect. There was a fair amount of people, but I’ve notice a good portion were regulars, which was great. Towards the end I felt so sleepy, I was ready to knock out lol. Great place, I recommend!

I’ve been coming here a while now and loved it! My last and final visit was this last Tuesday. My group ordered All You Can Eat, which is what we get a majority of the time when we come but this last time the fish was unfresh, taisted horrible and the portion sizes were a lot smaller than in the past. First off, eating bad, unfresh raw fish is dangerous. I’m sure if you eat sushi you know this. Our group continued to consume as we didn’t want to go anywhere else and given our past experiences. I was worried I would come down sick and I did. I won’t describe the effects bad unfresh sushi has on the body, I’m sure you can imagine what happened. My stomach hasn’t stopped hurting since. If continues tomorrow I’m going to the doctor and I will contact Ventura Health Department. During this visit, there was a couple celebrating their anniversary. Given being a Tuesday, the restaurant wasn’t that busy. As time went by, we noticed the couple complaining about the service and that they go there a lot. We heard them say they’ve never experienced such horrible service And that they won’t be coming back. I over heard the customer complain to the server while the manager stood back and watched. As a Manager/Owner nitices things like this they need to confront the customer and try to make it right but no, he sat back and watched. As this was going on for almost 10mins the couple finally got up and left and said they weren’t coming back.
I’m not sure if they were having an off night but I for sure am not gonna risk another night like this. Especially the way I’m feeling…

I forgot to write a review on my first experience dining here! But, at least I’ve came here 2x & both times are always amazing! We walked in, automatically greeted, seated right away which is nice. The first time we dined here, there was a huge party & we waited for 15 min to get seated. Not a big deal, the food made up for it :) We ordered AYCE sushi, I love how large the selection is on their menu! They also have happy hour mon-thurs 2−4pm for 19.99! Great deal! The food, oysters very fresh comes with ponzu & siracha! Btw, ask for a side of PONZUSAUCE for your sushi! Their ponzu sauce taste waaaaaay better than other ponzu I’ve tried! Sushi, very fresh, decent amount of rice. Uni & ikura very fresh as well! I love how there is Uni in the AYCE menu! Phili deep fried roll is my favorite! Just a deep fried Phili roll. Banana roll: we tried it because how odd it sounded! Not bad! The sweetest of the banana flavor worked well w/the spicy inside the roll! Both times I’ve came, the food, service is always on point! Of course, I’ve raved about this restaurant to my friends. They’ve dined here & also have the same great experience! Btw, I love the humor at the sushi bar, one of the sushi chefs had«handsome» as his name tag!

All you can eat sushi, fresh to order? Count me in. Ordered the uni, tuna on top of a square of deep fried rice, salmon roll, eel… so many different options I can’t recall. For me, the sushi was fresh and hit the sushi craving easily. I ordered the quail egg shot that came in ponzu sauce(I think). Since they had oysters on the half shell, I scooped the oyster and put it in my shot. Well worth the effort in trying this establishment, especially if you’re in the mood for sushi. Green tea ice-cream is complimentary post meal :)

Never heard of a sushi restaurant who hires chefs that can’t cut sashimi. They had 3 sushi chefs on duty(not even very busy) and I was told I cannot order sashimi because none are trained to cut sashimi!!! I was told to wait 15 minutes for a head chef to come and make my dinner. Walked out and went up the street. If you like sashimi do not go here!

I went here when the service and food was good. Now since they became all you can eat they can’t get it right. Today I thought I’ll give it another try. Not again!!! they make you feel like you are putting them out when you ask for your food to be a certain way or you want eel sauce etc., Won’t be eating here again and would not recommend at all!!!

Best All You Can Eat sushi in Simi Valley and in the SFV as well. Count on it. I’ve been to every single one of them as well. Very fast staff, fresh fish, and friendly chefs. They are always busy. Always! Definitely hard working workers they have since it is so fast paced. Most of their rolls are good since their seafood taste pretty fresh. You’re going to leave in a food coma. Make sure you try their green tea ice cream!

Came here with my family and fiancé to celebrate my brother’s 21st birthday. Five of us got the All You Can Eat Sushi and my sister got a bento Box with Beef. My sister ate every last bite and loved it! Between the five of us we ordered way to much to try to list it. Everything was wonderful though! Everything always came out quickly even though it was packed on a Friday night. We were all trying each other’s things. The coolest part about this place is the have no rice items on the menu! Most places try to fill you up on rice with the all you can eat menu but here, you don’t have to worry about that. You can easily get your money’s worth! The only reason for the four stars is the service isn’t all that great. They either get annoyed at you if you take to long to order or never stop by when you are ready to order. It also takes FOREVER to get a refill…

I was so excited to try this place, but NO. It took them 5 minutes to seat us when there were a couple available tables. We got the AYCE option for $ 21.99. So our orders took awhile, so service was slow. The rice to fish portion was not great and the waiter had to tell me to not leave the rice. But seriously, it was a lot of rice! Finally, I ended up with food poisoning here. I guess the only good part about that was I lost 5lbs as a result.

I love sushi. And sushi aficionados will agree that not all sushi places serve a good sushi. Key things for a good sushi is fresh fish, fresh ingredients and lots of love. Hikari sushi embodies all of the above. This place offers AYCE sushi and I think it is one of the good restaurants around the northern suburbs of LA. Their range is extensive and everything is done to perfection. Be it their fresh rolls, baked rolls, appetizers or their sashimi. My usual order: for appetizers I start with calamari tempura or the jalapeño bomb. Then a couple of fresh rolls. I especially love their spicy scallop, beautifully wrapped over seaweed and no rice. They kind of set me up for the entrees: I love their fire roll, 911, Alaska roll and aloha roll. Spice is major component on all of these, they are embellished with either jalapeños or spicy mayo. My favorite is also the baked scallop. It’s poetry. By this time I am half full. But the foodie in me yearns for more, so I go for the pathfinder, it’s a very different roll, wet and spicy but flavor packs a punch. Now I fully stuffed, but my wife can’t finish her Hawaiian roll. Tender crab meat inside, rice and spicy jalapeños on the outside so I finish her plate as well. Then my friend can’t finish his Spanish roll, beautiful tuna and avacado, so I help knock that off. By this time I am in a food coma, the person helping us with our food is almost surprised. My folks start clapping. I feel like guy from man vs. good. Mission accomplished. The point I make is. This place is a winner on all counts. Food is excellent, the guys helping us with food are great. The green tea ice cream that comes along with AYCE is an excellent way to wash down everything that you have eaten A BIG shout out to the chefs who are constantly churning one plate after another with consistent great quality and flavor. Couple of tips: AYCE cannot be shared, leftovers are charged for. So unless you are borderline glutton like me, keep a tab on what you order. The place gets very crowded on Fridays and weekends. Parking is available in plenty. Next time you are in Simi Valley, and in mood for sushi. You should most definitely give Hikari sushi a try. The place also has a sushi bar and they chant war crys in Japanese when you enter. I felt like one when I walked out, especially after the food war I indulged in. Enjoy!

I had a very good vibe walking into this place. The front clerk was very friendly and accommodating, and the chefs behind the counter greet every single person that walks in the door. My girlfriend and I were seated promptly and given out menus with drink orders taken at the same time. Very efficient process for sure! We placed the orders for our rolls, which also did not take much time to prepare and be served, considering the two I ordered were baked and fried. The quality and freshness of the fish and vegetables were incomparable, and the menus are very thorough in description of what each roll contains. I ordered the white roll and the golden tiger roll, both of which were absolutely amazing. Being from out of town, I am thoroughly impressed with Hikari, and will definitely be returning on future visits. My girlfriend has always raved of the quality and perfection Hikari calls sushi, and I was NOT disappointed!

Today I was blessed with sushi for lunch and dinner, in two different towns, and with two different guests! My previous review was a work meeting and this was a birthday dinner for my wife. This place is in a strip mall in Simi Valley. We walked in and got the traditional yell from the chefs. we were seated in the middle of the room which I don’t usually like, but it paid off later keep reading you will get it. I was taking pictures for this review and I think one of the staff must noticed because we were never left without a staff member standing by our table. It was kind of a cross between feeling important and feeling like they thought we were going to dine and ditch, enough so I don’t really know which one was actually our server lol. On to the food. We looked at the menu and decided to go with the all you can eat menu. We started with Miso soup for me and Sashimi salad for Elizabeth. Warm up; We got the«stuffed tomato» which is 2 pieces of tuna wrapped around spicy crab and scallops next was“magnolia” also 2 pieces of salmon stuffed with spicy crab meat. We ordered 2 quail egg shooters which is sake and soy sauce, we ordered a plate of oyster shooters which is oysters with flying fish roe and scallions on a half shell, we dumped them into the quail egg shooter walla an oyster shooter! Main show; Spider roll with battered soft shell crab, cucumber, avocado, daikon sprouts and Spicy mayonnaise, rolled inside nori and sushi rice Spicy tuna — Spicy tuna roll to deep fried cut 8 pcs with chef’s special sauce Finally we got tuna, salmon and spicy scallop Nigiri these were all great the scallops were a bit spicy for Elizabeth but i liked them. OK, now back to the table location. since it was Elizabeth’s birthday they turned off all the lights and then disco music came on and the lights strobed like in a disco they got everyone in the restaurant to clap and brought out the cool ass birthday desert made up of deep fried green tea ice cream and tempura bananas wit whipped cream. the middle of the room was the perfect spot for the birthday part of the evening. All of the fish was fresh and tasty, the staff was more than attentive and we will defiantly go back.
