Horrible experience. I wish there is no even 1 star for places like this. To begin with, the waiter made us seat in a table where she said we all must purchase the all you can eat. I wanted to have something from the menu and she just did not pay attention and left. She was pretty much screaming when we asked about the options and she seems bothered or irritated. Ok, instead, I asked the person who was serving the water, a male who was kind and had a soft voice. He said, of course, you can get something from the menu if you dont want the all you can eat. I asked the lady, who has with her hair all over the place, she looked pretty bad groomed and the hair was falling apart to all over our food, to prove it, my co-worker salad has a big black hair, we told her and she just ignored the situation, not even felt embarrassed and apologized, that was a little bit more than gross. Second, I requested the menu to get something else, she was upset, gave me the menu and I requested the fried tofu with chili sauce, it took her 20 minutes to serve the dish, the tofu smelled rotten, it was almost green-yellowish with a weird consistency, definitely nasty… the worst was the price, that nastiness was $ 8.99. The rest of my co-workers were not satisfied since all the ingredients were no fresh but what else we could have been done? nothing. DEFINETELY, I will not recommend that nasty place to anyone I know. Never ever go back again. Hopefully that woman can fix her hair, take a shower or at least get a haircut and learn manners how to treat customers.

I came here the other night for dinner for the first time with my mom, we both got the AYCE. The waitress was one of the nicest I’ve ever had, she was very attentive and friendly. I ordered an iced green tea and she brought it in a glass that was SOHUGE it lasted me the entire meal. My mom and I tried every single meat.(I loved the seafood). Everything was so good you can’t go wrong with anything. We were stuffed after, great price for how much food you get. There was some veggie stuff that was marinated in a yummy sauce(neither of us could figure out what it was) that we liked so much we got seconds. I would definitely come back and bring friends here. Also it was like 8pm and we were the only people in there(awesome!!!)

Went to Fresh Korean BBQ for lunch. When the owner asked us if we were ready to order, we showed her our Groupon certificate. As soon as she realized that we had a Groupon, she grabbed the menus out of our hands and returned with two different menus. Everything in the new menus cost about 2 or 3 dollars more. Add on the extra tax and tip and I think we ended up paying more for our lunch with the Groupon deal than without. That there was only one other customer in the place during a Tuesday lunch hour should have given us a clue about this place. Although the owner tried hard to be friendly, the food just wasn’t up to par. The white rice had a funky, oily taste and the chicken and beef had a mushy texture, probably marinated in meat tenderizer for way too long. Save your money and find another place. Even with a discount from Groupon or LivingSocial, no deal is good enough to make up for bad food.

The owner offered her friend’s daughter to me and called me handsome, so that’s cool. I have no idea how old she is or what she looks like so that is even better. Oh and the food is good and the service is good. A kbbq oasis in 805 apparently.

Went to this restaurant because I bought a groupon. They have AYCEKBBQ. What is unique about this place is that both the sides and the meat are on a salad bar so you can go get meat yourself. This is awesome because you can get only a little or a lot, you can mix meat, you can add veggies. It also frees up wait staff to do other things, which makes service great. But the most awesome thing was the service — both our waitress and the owner Helen were super accommodating, super nice. You want to give money to this place. I hope they’re super successful.

Dropped in. Loved the food and friendliness of the hostess. I love meeting our newer American citizens and the older ones too. Particularly over food and or coffee.

Count me out. There will not be a next time for me. We tried this restaurant as our third desperate option for Korean in the area, after our beloved Korean Bada was shut down in December and another local place didn’t bother to update their reduced lunch hours anywhere other than their front door. We saw the three star average on here, but took the plunge anyway. There is something very disconcerting about being the only table eating in a restaurant at 12:30pm on a Wednesday afternoon. For the most part, our suspicions were justified. Three BBQ boxes we’re all unremarkable and sub-par, and my specially ordered Soon Dubu was a watery disaster not worth describing in detail. Extremely gracious hostess and server — seems like a very nice family operates the place. But the compliments start and end there.

No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! What… the hell… is this place??? This place reminds me of those Korean-owned«Phở» restaurants, where they throw some noodles, low quality beef & onions in a bowl of bland broth & call it Phở. And just because you serve short ribs, bulgogi & call yourself«Fresh Korean BBQ» does not actually make it Korean BBQ! Stop it. Just stop. First of all, let me start by saying that there was no kimchi. I repeat, NOKIMCHI!!! When I crave Korean food, one of the main reasons is for the kimchi. The sad variety of «banchan» we were served was basically a random mix of radish, bean sprouts, & a few other veggies I wasn’t able to identify because everything was marinated in the exact same bright orange-red, overly sweet sauce. The point of banchan is to have a variety of side dishes with different flavors to sample… So if all of the flavors are the same, then what is the point of serving banchan? And did I mention that there was no kimchi?! I ended up ordering my usual Korean standby, hot stone Bibimbap, since at this point, I really wasn’t interested in committing to the AYCE option after seeing the«banchan» we were served. He ordered the spicy pork dish. After idly picking at the banchan dishes & trying to identify exactly what the veggies were as we waited for our food to arrive, I finally decided to ask where the damn kimchi was. Because come on! What self-respecting«Korean» restaurant doesn’t have kimchi? I flagged down a male server hovering around & asked if we could get some kimchi & gestured at the banchan selection as if to say, «Seriously, how is it possible that kimchi is not included in this hot mess??» He asked what I ordered & I told him I got the Bibimbap & he said with a smile, that the kimchi would be in that & then promptly spun on his heel & walked away. What??? Did he mean that the kimchi would be brought out along with out entrees, or was it actually IN the Bibimbap??? In which case, I’ve never had Bibimbap with kimchi in it before… I widened my confused eyes at my boyfriend & he gave me that look as if to say, «Just let it go or else they might fuck with our food.» So I did. When we got our food(sans a side of kimchi), I stirred up my egg into my meat, rice & veggies like normal & noticed two things: 1, there definitely was not kimchi in there &2, the entire contents inside the bowl was now a dark orange-red color, just like all of the banchan. I tasted it & yep! My suspicions were confirmed… My bibimbap had the exact same sickly overwhelming sweetness as the banchan. Are you fucking kidding me??? I ate as much as I could(which wasn’t much) & ended up getting a box to take the rest of it home, only because I felt bad, because honestly the only redeeming quality about this place is that our female server(possibly owner?) was so nice & was trying so hard to accommodate us. Also, my bf’s pork was dry & covered with a sauce that was, guess what??? Yep, really friggin’ sweet!!! I’m also a bit confused, because looking at some of the pics that other Unilocalers have posted, I do see images that resemble kimchi here & there, so I’m wondering if maybe they were out of it that day?(And again, no self-respecting«Korean» restaurant would ever run out of kimchi) Or maybe one of the banchan dishes of unidentified veggies was supposed to be kimchi but failed epically due to that horrifyingly sweet sauce… In any case, there’s just no chance of ever going back there again, as we both left that day feeling enormously unsatisfied & me, carrying a box of leftover«Bibimbap» that would never get eaten.

I am an Asian food fanatic. All I eat is Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, Shabu and Chinese. I have had Korean before, but never have done BBQ. That being said… I am not an expert on Korean BBQ, but thought this place was pretty darn good. I had purchased a Groupon a while back and hesitated based on the mixed reviews. A co-worker(who is extremely picky) went and said it was good, and suggested I use my deal. Upon entering a very friendly woman, who I assume is the owner greeted us immediately. She asked how we heard of the restaurant and asked if we have had Korean BBQ before. After telling her about the Groupon and my friend’s visit, she was very eager to explain the menu and offered suggestions. We opted for the AYCE. It was a TON of food! I have used Groupons before and owners/servers become unfriendly and cold thinking that you are a cheapskate. Not the case here. She was happy we came and was happy to have us. The banchan were all delicious! Despite there only being one other table in the restaurant and despite other reviews, I found all the side dishes, meats and veggies to be very fresh. The owner came by multiple times to make sure we were cooking everything properly and enjoying the food. The sauces, rice, soup and salad were all good as well. The meats were all tasty. I personally enjoy white meat chicken over dark, but understand traditionally the bulgogi, etc… is usually dark. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and appreciate the friendly service and genuine care she had for our experience. I cannot compare to K-Town restaurants, but on its own, this establishment earned its five star rating. Since it was slow, the owner was doing some work at another table. When the other guests left, she got up, ran to the door and thanked each person in the group for coming. She did the same when we walked out. THAT is how you run a business!

Part of a trend of Chinese people buying up Asian restaurants and going with very low quality ingredients. They kind of have the Korean Bbq concept right but the banchan is pathetic, sauces bland and there was no real bean paste when I went. I bought a simi deals coupon and it still costs more than real korean Bbq in k town. The meats were ok and ambiance is loud and hot. I appreciate what these entrepreneurial Chinese families are doing but korean and Japanese cuisines are about HIGH quality ingredients prepared with some pretty simple seasonings and thai food is about balance of flavors, hot, cool, sweet, salty… just taking some basic concept and replacing quality ingredients with sugar, salt and oil really degrades the product. I won’t go back to this place. I was with a Korean friend when I ate there and she was more forgiving than me but thought it was more like Chinese food.

Just returned from this restaurant from using our Simi Deal. We met Helen, the manager(I think she’s the owner!) who welcomed us like she was entertaining us in her home. She explained how our Simi Deal worked and we decided on a K box. A K box holds your meat, rice, appetitzer and salad. While we waited for our order, Helen came to the table with many little bowls filled with wonderful goodies. Rice noodles, shredded cabbage, a blend of shredded potato, carrots and green pepper. Wonderfully marinated persian cucumbers, pineapple, kim chi, — so good and wonderfully seasoned. We’ll be back. Service was excellent. I like my food a little hotter than it was served. Other than that a delightful experieince.

My mom and I were drawn in to this restaurant because of their $ 6.99 lunch deal. This is for their lunch boxes, which comes with a side of kimchi, broccoli, japchae, 1 small egg roll, and a side of miso soup. I decided to go with the spicy pork marinated lunch box and was pretty disappointed. The food was bland, the side dishes were pathetic(please refer to pictures), and everything about the meal was just bad. I give it 2 stars for being edible, but I couldn’t even finish my dish. A lot of the times, it seems as if people give slack to restaurants that are in Simi Valley. I believe that every restaurant, regardless of location, should strive to provide its customers with not only the best customer service but also the best possible food they can offer. Unfortunately, this restaurant falls short of so many things. Their competitive prices do not justify their tasteless food. I wouldn’t come back here even if someone offered to pay for my meal.

RUN!!! Don’t even think about it. The food was TERRIBLE! I’ve never tasted the most disgusting Korean food, until today. My friend and I ordered beef ribs and beef bulgogi for lunch to go… The BEEFRIBS was unappetizing at first sight. The TASTE??? Wow!!! Nothing like it… TERRIBLETERRIBLE!!! They put some caramelized sauce on a RARE beef!!! Imagine that!!! It was rubbery. The bulgogi ??? Oh lord. I should have just gone to Yoshinoya. I would have been happier. The SALAD!!! I won’t go there. the EGGROLL!!! It was mushy and didn’t taste remotely like one. The ONE star was for the lady trying to explain why the meat was«bad«…She tried. But they need to google how to make good Korean food. And have a better presentation on their food. The place is clean though… The kitchen, who knows. SAVE your money, go somewhere else. It’s really not worth it. I’m going back to get my money back!!! My first and LAST time here.
