Expensive for tickets Expensive for beer. It was tecate Expensive for food(price was not listed). Did not try I did not look the part in any way. See present profile photo On the plus side I got to meet my favorite band and got a signed poster! No ins and outs. Due to this, although the poster survived, I failed to keep it pristine and unwrinkled in the mêlée Neat cars on display with lots of work done

On the positive: Social D headlined(one of my faves). Saw Face 2 Face for the first time. And there were some cool merch booths. On the negative: Its always super hot during this concert. Concert is all afternoon so be prepared. Also, be wary of lots of knucklehead people bumping into you all day and not saying excuse me. Seriously people? And my last tip, you might want to leave a song before the end to avoid the one lane exit out of Canyon Lake Ranch. It can become a nightmare. E L

THISREVIEWRELATESTOTHEVIPTICKETSONLY: Don’t waste your $. They advertised«bathrooms», which were the same port-a-potties as everyone else used & early on they ran out of toilet paper, water to wash your hands, etc. They advertised that food was included, which it was not. The«shade» they advertise is from the same trees that are found throughout the venue. There were not enough places to sit. You could not see the bands from the VIP area, which was behind the sage. The lines for drinks were long, & we even had to wait in line when we arrived to get our«VIP wristbands». A complete disappointment & absolutely not worth the extra $ 50! Total rip off! However, the Hootenanny itself was great, but only buy general admission!

I was not too impressed with this festival at all. Way too far of a drive and the tickets were pricey. I would have had a much better time if they had some type of booze for me to drink. I refuse to drink nasty Bud Light. They had no hard alcohol at all nor did they have any wine. They do have a good deal where you can get a VIP pass that includes free drinks. But obviously you need to be a Bud Light drinker to reap the benefits of this pass. I went when Tiger Army and Social D played. They are both great bands and put on a good show. Yet, I have seen both these bands in the past in much more accommodating environments. In addition to the music, there was also a car show. There were some really interesting old school vehicles to check out. The vintage hearse was my favorite!

This was my second year at the Hootenanny. I’m not a big rockabilly fan or anything, but I had a good time. This year was much more tolerable in terms of the weather. They try to make people as comfortable as possible, with misters and plenty of shade. We got VIP tickets from a friend, and this included backstage access and free drinks. Of course, the line for alcohol was really long, and the liquor was of the«rot gut» variety. At least when you finally got to the front of the line, the bartenders had no problem giving each person 2 or 3 drinks each. Talent was good — I especially liked Royal Crown Review. And I have to give props to all the people in rockabilly gear. The girls have it rough with all the hairspray, make-up and high heeled and platform shoes. I can’t even dress like that in an air-conditioned room, let alone outside in the heat all day. Even though I’m not a part of the scene, I enjoyed myself and gained some appreciation for the style of music and dress.

Had a fantastic time at Hootenanny this year. Great music, great weather, great venue. The people-watching second-to-none. There are a ton of vendors selling all sorts of accessories and apparel; there is a salon for the ladies and a barbershop for the men(Hawleywood’s, great place for a cut). We were unsure whether or not attendees could bring a picnic in, and while this question was never really answered, they were letting people in with their own water bottles. The food and beer is more reasonable compared to other festivals of this type. Hootenanny is highly recommended for people into rockabilly, hillbilly, psychobilly, and roots-rock. Anyone else looking for a fun music festival will enjoy it as well.
