I’ve always had good service at the Wheaton Stride Rite. My granddaughter has wide feet and they have a good selection of sizes. We decided yesterday that our granddaughter really needed a pair of Crocs for camp, since they were exploring in the creek every day and trying to dry out canvas shoes wasn’t working very well. Being a nice grandfather, my husband set out to the mall to try to find her a pair. She was too tired from camp to go with him, so he was on his own. It’s mid-​summer so Target had just sent all of their Croc-​style shoes back to the warehouse to make room for back to school shoes and boots. So on to Stride Rite where they still had a good selection in stock. Staff greeted my husband right away and advised him that Crocs are sized generously, so if in-​between sizes probably best to go to the smaller size. The Crocs fit perfectly and off to camp they went this morning.

I went here for my first pair of shoes when I was 1. That was 31 years ago. Today I brought my daughter in for her first pair of sneakers. We had great service. Very friendly and professional and helpful. They measured her foot and spent a good amount of time. They have a great selection. We brought her sneakers and socks. I will be back! It was an Asian lady that helped me.

I am always happy when stores carry well made shoes in wide or even double wide for my hobbit footed kids. However, on our last trip here we were looking for running shoes for my 9-​yr-​old daughter and a few minutes later left with the recommended shoes. Ten minutes later my daughter was literally crying because her feet hurt so much. She had already worn them outside so we could not return them. We wound up going to Fleet Feet in DC, the best running store in the area. They literally tried something like 15 pairs of shoes on her for over an hour. She loves her new shoes and they are TWO sizes bigger than the Stride Rite shoes. No wonder she was miserable. I’m giving three stars because we had luck in the past, but I won’t be back after the last experience.
