Wheaton Lock Service

I have used Don Schmidt of Wheaton Lock for many years for my own house and for my clients’ properties in NW, Bethesda and Chevy Chase. He does a wonderful job. He always answers his phone so it’s easy to make an appt with him. For every appointment, he has been on time and gotten the work done within abt 45 mins. He must have a good-​sized inventory of parts on his truck since he has always been able to make a given repair in one trip. Don also has shown me how to properly take care of a lock so that it is less likely to break or «freeze» which I appreciate and has given me sound advice abt the quality of the various brands of locks available. I highly recommend Wheaton Lock. Note: I think there is another local co called Kensington-​Wheaton Lock so if you want to use Don Schmidt then make sure you’re calling «Wheaton Lock». Thank you.

Hard to find, good to know. Wheaton Lock Service has been in business for decades, but the name is pesky. There are a few names that are similar, and judging from what people say about his ‘competition’, none of those businesses measure up. Mr. Don Schmidt is the man to call. I’ve used his service several times, finding him on Consumer Checkbook with resoundingly favorable reviews. Mr. Schmidt is on time service and doesn’t sell you something you don’t need. He provided extra keys to all the double deadbolts he installed. There is nothing but junk if you ask me, at Big Box.
I tried installing a doorknob on my own, and found myself stripping the metal as I was trying to get the screws on. Junk. Now once it’s opened from the bubble pack, what do you do.
You call Mr. Schmidt like you should have done the first time. Lock smithing is not a handyman job, defeats the purpose. Mr. Schmidt installed double keyed deadbolts, all the keys are the same. A robber will find he has to use the window, because the door won’t budge now. Heh-​heh. Wheaton Lock Service is totally reasonable, you’re buying quality material with expert installation. Mr. Schmidt can make extra keys on his truck.
