If you drive into this strip center in Wheaton Maryland you can easily become overwhelmed by how many Peruvian chicken places there are. Early on I read a review about Super Chicken and honestly I haven’t tried any of the others. I love the flavor I like the simplicity of the place. This is my go-to place for wonderful savory spicy rotisserie chicken! Don’t underestimate their salsa verde — it’s really hot. I like to combine some of it with the aioli mayonnaise. And I often get their fried yucca.

Their chicken is super flavorful and moist, and the portions are huge for the price you pay. Also, the plantains are beyond delicious. Super Chicken is definitely worth checking out. If you’re looking for a delicious and satisfying meal, this is the place to be!

The chicken is so good here. Sides can be dicey, but yucca, plantains, and slaw are safe bets. Mix the yellow and green sauces. Why get fries when yucca is on the menu?

Super Chicken is a great bargain, it has to be as there are three Latin chicken joints in this strip mall! Service was fast and friendly. Cost of whole rotisserie chicken plus two sides was a mere $ 16.99. This is a great place to pick up a hot meal in a pinch! All the Latin chicken kinda tastes similar to me but it’s the little special sauces that keep me trying new places! Also-they boast quite a side selection. Enjoy!

Got take out from here for the first time the other night. This chicken was great, I would say a little better than El Pollo Rico because of the crispier skin. However, the sides left a lot to be desired. The french fries we got were cold and dry and the rice and beans were not flavorful and kind of goopy. I would definitely return for the chicken, but would probably at least try out some different sides to see if there was something better.

A nice alternative for Peruvian chicken in the Wheaton/Kensington area. The chicken is great, among the juiciest I’ve had in the area. The side options are OK, but it is sometimes difficult to pry additional sauces out of the side. Unlike El Pollo Rico, you usually don’t have to wait 10 minutes in line. I’ve only done carry out, so cannot comment extensively on the dining in experience. However, there does always seem to be a TV blaring. Parking can often be difficult. Despite those drawbacks, the chicken makes up for it.

This is the best Peruvian chicken in the entirety of Maryland, don’t listen to anyone who tells you otherwise.

Maybe I missed the«Super» in my chicken! Not sure if these are the same owners of the SC on Kenilworth Ave., but it doesn’t taste as of it is. No competition for Sardis, Crisp & Juicy, or El Pollo Rico. All of my food was served cold. This wasn’t even worth the calories or the $ 7.00. Highly dissatisfied

3.5 Stars Honestly, the chicken deserves a 4, but other factors lessen Super Chicken’s star count. The sides are okay, nothing fancy. We always seem to get the yucca and coleslaw. Can’t really go wrong with the two. The chicken is very good here, we never have leftovers! The employees can be kind of stingy with sauce and napkins. I don’t really care too much for dining in here– not the cleanliest looking of places.

This is pretty solid Peruvian chicken. I wanted to try someplace different, so I tried this place based on the Unilocal reviews. Didn’t disappoint. It’s not my absolute fave spot, but it’s pretty good food and it’s not too far from my house. I’d stop in again if I had a taste for some rice, yuca, and chicken.

I went here the other day… I’m not sure what was going on but the chicken didn’t have the right marinate like it usually does… BUT the yuca was good as usual… and the fries is pretty standard steak fries… I’m gonna give it one more shot… to see if yesterday was just a random miss

The chicken here gets 4-stars but the sides bring my overall rating of Super Chicken to 3-stars. Don’t get me wrong, the chicken is delicious here with an excellent spice rub. The chicken is also well cooked and very juicy. But, the sides are subpar and bring the dish down instead of helping to elevate the chicken. I got the ¼ chicken dark, coleslaw and rice and beans. The coleslaw was flavorless and more dissapointingly, dry. Dry coleslaw? Come on now. Also the sauce the coleslaw was in was strange. It was fatty like mayo but had no taste of mayo. What is this mystery sauce? The rice and beans were not very good either. The beans didn’t really have much flavor. What is the standard that I’m comparing Super Chicken to, you ask? Sardi’s in College Park of course. The chicken is comparable at these places but Sardi’s sides are amazing. Go try their rice and beans and come back to Super Chicken. you’ll be utterly dissapointed. I’ll have to try El Pollo Rico next time and compare these battling neighbors!

Peruvian Chicken at its best. If you want something fast this is the place for you. I keep coming to this place and this place only when i want some peruvian chicken.

Don’t be fooled by the people next door that try to lure you in to their chicken joint. They know they can’t compete! The chicken is of course fantastic. I prefer the quarter white meat with fried yuca and either beans or plantains depending on my mood. You know those two little sauces that come with your chicken at every Peruvian chicken place? They are the best here. Hands down.

Super Chicken is almost the same as its competitor next door, El Pollo Rico. They both serve Peruvian Chicken and pretty much the same sides. The only main difference for me is that Super Chicken has way better yuca and El Pollo Rico has better chicken(a little bit more moist & more flavor). For $ 14, you get a whole chicken with 2 sides. I usually go with fries & fried yuca. There’re usually 2 sauces that come with the chicken: the yellow & green sauce. The yellow sauce’s more like a mayo whereas the green is the hot sauce. Overall, I do enjoy Super Chicken. Very good bang for your buck & chicken’s pretty good! The only bad thing is the neighborhood, very shady especially at night. **3 ½ stars**

My favorite Peruvian chicken. Although I don’t like their location-it could be somewhat shady and dangerous for a lady to go by herself-, but, I really love their chicken. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They are always willing to make additional food whenever they ran out of it. Chickens are cooked everyday and the sauces are incredible! I also love the variety of side dishes they offer and My favorites Sweet plantain and Yucca! I really recommend it whenever you are in the mood of some quick Latin infusion.

Shockingly good. Seriously, I thought I’d reached the height of pollo with El Pollo Rico in Arlington, VA, but this place takes the crown. Several very important distinctions: first, they use high-quality wood charcoal at this place(you can see bags of the stuff stacked in the back). Second, they put a lot of care into their side dishes. My favorite is the red onion, jalapeño salad. The yucca is a close second. The chicken itself is outstanding, but tends to vary a bit in quality. I recommend going during the busiest lunch hours to get the choice cuts. Other reviews I see here on Unilocal tend to corroborate this claim. Yes, parking is insane, but that only adds to the experience, I think. You gotta work for it, people.

Given all the hype from my buddy, I was really disappointed. The outside skin of the chicken isn’t as fragrant nor as smoky as other Peruvian chicken shacks and the meat inside is pretty much bland. Yucca and coleslaw were meh. Place itself is dirty and uncomfortable.

I went to this place over seven years ago when I used to live in MD. Loved it. You can smell the chicken charring above the coals from a mile away. So when I came back to visit last week, I had to stop by this place. Much has changed. For one, no line out the door. Next, the place looks renovated, and I don’t see the grill out in front. And guess what? It’s not the same owners. From what I hear, they moved not too far away. Onto the food… chicken was char grilled, skin tasted good, but the meat itself was pretty dry, definitely not free ranged, probably factory farm produced. I had the half chicken. Once I finished the dark meat I was wishing I had more of the sauces to dip the remaining white meat in. Guess I should of shelled out a little more. But the complaint wasn’t about the chicken. It was decent. My problem were the sides. Not even on par with El Polo Loco or even KFC. But don’t get me wrong, the peruvian chicken is decent, just not over the top like before.

Probably a small step down from El Pollo Rico which is right next door… but they are all good and similar to each other. I wouldn’t make a big deal of it if I ate chicken from super chicken rather than el pollo rico.
