Yum yum! Had the ka prow tofu, drunken noodle tofu and ka prow fried rice. All yummy and perfectly spicy. Also the girl that I paid was a doll and awesomely friendly. They deserve awesome business!

Under new ownership. Food quality has gone way down. More room inside to eat in but why bother with slightly smaller portions of less quality food. Sadly disappointed. Used to be a real goto place for take out.

If you want bang for your buck, and good Thai food look no further. My wife literally craves their Drunken Noodles. The Green Curry is a spicy yet savory blend of spices. If you not a fan of too much spice try Ka Prow which is a great sweet and savory dish. I would recommend this place as one of the best places to get take out. As other reviewers have noted it can get a little crowded if you decide to eat in, but for the price and the flavors of good Thai food I am willing to give them a little leeway.

Pad Thai is the gold standard for any Thai restaurant and this place has a great one! I am also a big fan of the veg coconut soup because it is packed vegetables but is a little saltier than I’m used to. I’ve delivered from Thai Flavor several times and it’s amazing that they always get our order right whether it’s extra spicy drinken noodles or vegetarian only because other places in the area that I’ve tried have thrown in pork with our vegetarian dishes = fail.

Ok, not at all what I expected — it’s not a restaurant really, it’s like a quarter of a diner. Looks to be mostly takeout, and I made the mistake of bringing a date here. We got the one open table, and there was group of maybe 8 teenagers at the other tables pushed together. A seriously tiny joint. HOWEVER, the food was slamming! I eat Thai every chance I get, and this is probably the best pad kee mow(drunken noodles, on their menu) that I’ve had. The larb was also excellent, as was whatever my date got(Asian noodles or something?). I can’t fault it for being in Silver Spring, but I REALLY wish it weren’t. Caveat — I asked for it extra spicy, and they brought it out perfectly seasoned, perhaps even erring on the side of «ordered by a white guy.» Definitely make a point of saying it if you like your food Thai-spicy. My date’s dish definitely was not spicy enough for either of us, but she didn’t ask. At the end of the day — taste matters. Five stars.

I visited this because it was listed in the February 2010 issue of Washingtonian Magazine in an article called«Best of Silver Spring» [MD]. I can tell you, I’m a fan! The first thing on the checklist for a new place is parking. Check! There’s a parking lot behind the place. A multilevel, municipal garage less than two blocks away. If you’re lucky, you might land a spot on the street in front of the place. I have to tell you, you could easily miss this place as you drive by. It has a very small glass storefront on a major street. It’s on Colesville Road(Route 29). It’s a little up and across the street from the Round House Theatre and the AFI Silver Theatre. The Filmore is next door. If you’re thinking about dinner and theatre, check! The place has one outside table and 6 or 7 small tables inside. There are 2 bar chairs at a small counter in front of the window(great for people watching). Three or four additional bar chairs are at the counter with the one person serving as hostess /server /cashier. Think carryout with tables. You can read the other reviews to see that the food is awesome! I ordered the Tofu Tod and Pineapple Chicken(best sweet & sour sauce I ever had!) You like Thai Food, TRYTHISPLACE!!! One note: This place closes everyday from 4 pm to 5 pm(not sure but maybe the chef takes a break).

I loooove thai food and, upon moving to Silver Spring, was underwhelmed with the lack of good options for this cuisine especially in category of places that deliver. When a friend with toddler in tow visited so going out was out of the question, we opted for staying in and trying this new-to-us place. Success! While there was initially a glitch(we were told to call back – delivery is apparently not a guaranteed daily option), the food was worth the wait. My curry(by now, I’ve tried both red and green curry with chicken) has been delish every time and the drunken noodles are likewise a smash hit. I particularly like the pleasantly colorful red and green bell peppers that visually dominate many of their dishes. We recently tried their pad thai here as well. While, at first bite, the pad thai seemed ordinary and not impressive, subsequent tastes changed my mind and I kept sneaking for fork-fulls for the remainder of the evening. My only ‘meh’ so far has been their spring rolls. Although there is nothing wrong with these per se, this dish is served alongside a too-sweet-for-most-adults-peanut-taste-lacking ‘peanut’ sauce and is otherwise nothing special: crispy lettuce sparsely-packed without thin noodles that I adore in such rolls plus a protein of your choice. One of these days I’ll expand to trying one of the many curious items on the menu but, until then, curry goodness is only a phone call – or a short stroll to downtown SS – away.

Delivery? Check Sources locally? Check Tastes great? Double check Ordered the drunken noodles on the advice of a glowing Washingtonian review that if anything, undersold the goods at SSTF. The food was fresh, the spice was sublime and the peppers looked and tasted like they’d come right from the farmer’s market(which apparently they had). Nothing not like in our order — the eggplant dish with chicken was perfect and the spring rolls tasted homemade. Give em a go…

This is definitely the best Thai around in Silver Spring. Even better than Thai Market, as much as it pains me to say it. Plus, they have WAY more vegetarian options; they’ll substitute tofu for meat in any dish they offer. I haven’t tried their delivery, but I work less than a block away and their takeaway service is always nice and fast.

Still awesome in my mind but an important update — they no longer serve the Golden Wings. These were the really good chicken wing appetizer. Owner told me they just took too long to cook. A shame. Tried the crispy fried tilapia tonight. Excellent. Highly recommended.

I agree, delivery in this area is horrible. That being said, I will not be ordering from Thai Flavor anymore. I work like 3 blocks away from this place and it always takes them more than an hour to deliver. The food isn’t good enough for me to wait that long. I usually order Pad Thai and something else to make up the minimum delivery amount and… am never pleased. The delivery guy is always very nice but the woman that answers the phone… is not exactly the sweetest thing. When I ask for the fish sauce with peppers, she never understands what I am talking about. Good luck Thai Flavor, hopefully someone will buy you out.

Ok, this is wayyyy better than Silver Spring Thai or whatever that place is called over on Ellsworth near Ceviche. Definitely definitely get the Spicy Cat Fish. I actually dislike catfish, but it was reallyyyy good here. I had to try out my friend’s, before I bought it the second go around. The seafood fried rice is good. So is the eggplant chicken dish. The place is definitely small so might be better for take out, but I’ve only ever dined in. So what if there’s only one table, at least you can see who’s making your food. This is definitely the way to go for Thai food in Silver Spring!

First, a quick rant: why on earth is delivery so difficult in this area? Not only are there very few options, but every single one we have tried so far has taken over an hour to arrive. Worse, most screw up the address or order somehow. It is frustrating, especially after living in San Francisco where dozens of easy delivery options were just a phone call away. In any case, Thai Flavor was no exception to this irritating rule. Delivery took over an hour, and when the food arrived it had clearly been sitting for a bit. We ordered the Pad Thai and Green Curry. The Pad Thai was gummy and congealed, and pungently fishy. The green curry – well, it wasn’t green. It had both eggplant and mushroom in it, too odd additions which turned the whole thing a muddy brown-green. The flavor wasn’t terrible, but it didn’t taste like all of the ingredients were fresh. I was left feeling oddly queasy after the meal. All in all, I would not recommend this for anyone ordering delivery. Maybe their in-store food is better, but it is unlikely I will ever bother to find out given how sad our meal was tonight.

We love this place! *The veggies: fresh and al dente. *The sauces: light, flavorful and warming(not heavy, overdone or cloying). *The fish, shrimp and chicken: tender and delicious. *The rice: brown and healthy(they also have white rice). *Even better, the people who own the place are a kind, reliable, community oriented couple who are living the dream of starting a business. :) *Plus, Thai Flavor is conveniently located in downtown Silver Spring on Colesville near Georgia — good location for Metro rail and bus riders, bicyclists, pedestrians, film-goers, mall-rats, nearby apartment dwellers, commuters driving home from work. * And they deliver! Try the: Rama Chicken Mango Curry Chili Tilapia Spicy Eggplant Pineapple Chicken(our daughter digs this one) ~ Please SUPPORTSMALLLOCALBUSINESSES ~ yummy restaurants like this one make Silver Spring a cool, vibrant place to live.

I was attracted to Thai Flavor the day I saw their little handmade sign from across the street. It appears as if it was made on a dot matrix printer with those perforated sheets of paper, except they enlarged the font to such an extent that it takes up several sheets of that perforated paper landscape-style. So cool. And the service is very attentive when you dine-in. I work in the area so it’s easy for me to walk to. I wouldn’t recommend driving here just for a meal or anything, the dining room is utilitarian and tiny, certainly more suitable for a take-out place. But it’s perfect for a meal right before a show at the AFI Silver, and at just the right price point. Oh yeah, the food. I’ve only had a few dishes. The Drunken Noodles with beef; Spicy Eggplant with chicken, and Thai Flavor with Shrimp: all pretty tasty, good-size portions with a healthy amount of spice. It’s just one guy back there, and you can see him doing all the cooking,… so it’s definitely hot off the stove, at least if you dine-in. All in all, I think it’s considerably better than the big, bad Thai at Silver Spring a block away. Maybe they will try and emulate Thai Flavor and get an awesome paper sign too.

Small place. Service is pretty fast(my orders were usually ready in about 10 min) and the place is clean(big plus for me). Kitchen is pretty open so you can see how your order is cooked. From the menu: Tilapia — very good, spicy and not greasy. Catfish — very good, same not greasy and with rice on a side. Ka Prow with chicken — it’s ok, but just ok Thai Flavor rice with seafood — good Nutty chicken — I would put here 2 stars max(greasy) Overall — I would suggest to go with seafood dishes(looks like they are very good overall based on reviews here) and probably don’t expect much from beef/chicken.

Pretty tasty Thai food in Silver Spring. Had the Thai Spicy Catfish and the Siam Beef. The catfish was real tasty, and the flavors were authentic Thai flavors. Definitely couldn’t get enough of the catfish. The beef was also pretty good, but not spectacular, especially compared to the catfish. Nice and cheap. Dine-In Service is real attentive and good. Would go again if I’m ever in the area.

I really should give it one star, but I usually don’t like to review based on just one visit. Of course I’ll never eat from here again, so I give it the«benefit of the doubt» 2 stars. I picked this place because it was so close to our hotel, so I figured they couldn’t possibly screw up our delivery. We had the chicken satay, siam beef, nutty chicken and pad thai — I had to go kid friendly with my son in tow. The siam beef and chicken satay were passable. Chicken satay was unspectacular, but for my son, that worked out. The siam beef had no real discernible flavor to it — I think it may have been just dipped in soy and that was it. The nutty chicken was disgustingly sweet. The pad thai was sticky — which I kind of forgive because it was delivered — but the shrimp tasted old — and I had to spit one of it out. However, once I got rid of the shrimp, flavor wise, the pad thai wasn’t bad. Ironic that the dish where I had to spit out the shrimp probably had the best overall flavor.

Truly delicious thai delivery would be a huge problem for me. Luckily for my waistline it was not truly delicious(or even really delicious at all). We ordered chicken satay, ginger beef, and panang chicken thinking it would be pretty difficult to screw up these basic dishes. The satay was ok… not very peanut-y or flavorful. The panang was watery and not at all spicy. The ginger beef only came with three small pieces of beef and lots of bland vegetables. For a restaurant named Thai Flavor, I found everything lacking flavor. It was also overpriced for the small portions. The delivery was pretty fast. The restaurant is very convenient to us. We will probably order again, but only out of sheer laziness.

Went in on a whim and had the chicken ka prow with brown rice. It was great! Good portion, friendly staff and wonderful flavor… It is small so carryout or lunch would be best.
