Great salon experience! I came here because Renee was my stylist at another salon a few years ago. I loved her work before but she’s even taken it up a notch. I have natural hair but wanted hair extensions — I loved the fact that from the beginning there was a focused plan of nurturing and protecting my natural hair before putting in the extensions. Everyone that took care of me from Gracie, Chandelle, to Shannon used extreme care and were so sensitive to my needs. The customer service of this place is amazing and very customer oriented. There’s no yelling across the salon or loud talking — the gospel music in the background added to the very soothing and calming vibe in the place. It’s evident that everyone has been well prepped and groomed about what image the owners are trying to convey. Renee is a master at her craft. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she went to working on it. It was beyond my expectations!

I simply love the service I recieve at this salon. Renee is an awesome stylist and has made going natural a more pleasant experience than I thought it would be. The entire staff at this salon is professional and friendly.

Salon 8227 is a great find. Renee Stephens is my stylist and has done wonders with my hair extension enhancements. She is a master at her trade. She is focused and strives to give you that perfect look while taking great cate of your hair. Whether I have the extensions or just wear my natural hair wirhout the extensions, I have the confidence that my hair is in good hands. Whether you want color or style, Renee Stephens can to it all. She is a very gifted artist and her talent can be seen in the hair syles that she gives her customers. The salon environment is peaceful, professional and uplifting. You are greeted warmly when you come in the door and treated with respect the entire time you are there. The atmosphere is very cosmopolitan and modern. The stylists ate knowledgeable and up on the last trends while also taking the very best care of your hair. I definitely recommend that you give this salon a visit.

Well, I pretty much have determined that I’m going to follow Milan no matter where she goes. From the VERY first time I met her, I found her to be not just warm-​spirited, but fully invested in making my hair look and feel the very best. She will get IN YOUR HAIR and work every curl, kink or wave pattern you own! I went to her with a BOTCHED job of a cut from some self-​proclaimed «Master Cutter/​Stylist» and, when I tell you that Milan DID THE DOGGONE THING with course correction on it, she really did. From that day, I was hooked. This is going to sound corny, but I have to say it anyway: she made me feel beautiful again – you know how you want to hide and not make eye contact with folks when you have a bad cut? Yeah, she gave me the total opposite of that. So, I knew she wouldn’t go to a salon that wasn’t a reflection of who she is and what she truly believes in as far as hair care and styling goes. The other wonderful thing is that she EDUCATES you about your hair and why or why not a certain style is for you or not for you. Even when I wash and wear my hair in it’s natural state, the cut she gave me and styled still looks good. Even sitting in her chair, I could see that her colleagues we on point too, so, if ever she has to reschedule me or refers me to a colleague, I know I can trust that my do will still be great.
The salon is not the closest place to where I live in Bowie, MD, but it’s worth getting up on a Saturday morning, brewing my coffee, toasting my bagel and hitting the beltway to see her every two weeks. #hairlove #

My wife had a terrible experience at this salon. Guys don’t let your wife/​girlfriend go here, you’ll regret it.

In response to Rachel B, my braids were on for about 5 weeks and I had the Janet Jackson poetic Justic type braids. Based on the type of style and the time frame there was no cause for my hair to loc. Secondly, as I stated before «we» (myself and Shalita) took out my braids and there was no indication that my hair started to loc. Thirdly, she should have used oil on my dry hair first to take out any tangle from my hair and then proceed with the wash. She clearly didn’t know what she was doing. Nice try…

I’ve got to completely disagree with the previous reviewer. Cookie (her real name is Rosslyn) was extremely professional and helpful on my recent visit. I was down the street trying to get my hair done elsewhere. I ended up walking out of that salon (after the stylist left me waiting for 45 minutes just to start my appointment) and running into a woman with beautiful hair on the street who suggested that I come here.
With NO appointment, Rosslyn took me in and did GREAT work on my hair. She was a pleasure to chat with and extremely professional.
As far as the previous post about natural hair… I’ve been natural for about four years now. I’ve NEVER heard of detangling dry hair. That just doesn’t even make any sense. You always wash, condition, and only then detangle natural hair (or really any type of hair for that matter). It’s true that when you leave braids or twists in for too long, your hair will start to loc. The only way to get those locs out once they’ve started is to wet and condition the hair then start the painful process (and it will be painful) of combing out those locs. Sorry Emma Z.
