I don’t know about the other reviews, but mine is from the«barber side» perspective of Dannys. BEST barbershop ever. They get me in and get me out with little to no wait time. Incredible service. All the guys are awesome. Danny is great(his wife is also great who manages the salon) and Temesqen is my go to guy. 5 stars all the way around.

I just got back from Danny Hair Salon and the experience was horrible. I took my 11 years old girl to get her hair washed, blow dried and flat ironed but we had to leave after they are done blow drying her hair. They assigned someone new(doesn’t know what she is doing) to do my daughter’s hair to blow dry. She was yanking her hair too much I can see tears filling my daughter’s eyes so I had to tell the lady to take it easy(in more than once occasion). But she was not sure how to blow dry obviously and it took her forever to do a section of her hair. Then the other lady next to her who was doing someone’s hair stopped what she was doing and went to my daughter’s station and took over and showed the lady how to blow dry hair(Basically training their employees on my daughter’s hair). Then the owner came over to help as well. How many people does it take to blow dry hair? Not sure but at that point, I have decided that I am not going to let my daughter go through another hour of flat ironing with any one of those people so I decided to leave(by the way, my daughter has very nice texture and long hair, it is not like she has a difficult hair). Yes, I paid the full price but NO I did not tip any one of the three people. I do not recommend this place for kids/teens at all, they are not gentle enough to make the ‘hair getting done’ process enjoyable. For adults it might be fine(only if you are a type of person who can make them stop and ask for someone who knows what he/she is doing). I was disappointed to say the least.

I’ve come here a couple of times to have my daughter’s hair done, and the price was good for a decent job. However the last stylist we had was very rough with my daughter and kept yanking her hair and making her cry, to the point where another stylist had to step in and take over. She didn’t even have the decency to apologize to my daughter(who is TEN), instead she got annoyed with her and rolled her eyes. She had a very bad attitude. The second stylist was better and tried to be more gentle even though she burned her occasionally with the flat iron. But the reason I’m submitting a review today, is because I had planned to come back to get my daughter’s hair done today — Sunday. I have two business cards that state the salon is open Sundays from 10 – 6, and even the sign on the door states these hours. We woke up early, went for breakfast, and showed up to the salon at 10:30am. It’s completely dark, and locked. Clearly they’re closed today. I called, the answering service mentions nothing about the hours, or being closed today. So now I have to figure out what to do with my child’s hair, because I was banking on getting her hair done today based on everything that says they should be open. We won’t be coming back here.

I was looking for a salon in the downtown silver spring area that has experience with natural hair at a decent price. One of my coworkers’ hair looked really nice at our Christmas party and she told me this place did it for only $ 35! So on NYE I finally checked them out after work. Its also a barber shop on the first floor, and the salon is on the second floor. The people were really nice and they started on my hair as soon as I walked in. There were a lot of customers, but there were plenty of stylists as well. I really wish I would have wrote this review earlier because I really don’t remember the girl’s name that did my hair, not that I’d plan to go back to this place anyway. First, she did not wash my hair thoroughly enough; it was dirty in less than a week. Second they use entirely too much heat! She blow dried my hair first, and that was fine, but my hair is really fine, and it was really already straight enough. She really only needed a flat iron to curl the ends. Instead, this girl sectioned my hair in such small pieces and passed that flat iron over each section of my hair at least 5 – 6 times! She literally singed my hair! My hair began breaking off the very next day and I still am experiencing quite a bit of shedding, but I’ve been conditioning my hair and giving myself protein treatments so hopefully I’m able to reverse the damage. This is an Ethiopian salon, but they used more heat than the Dominicans! I guess you get what you pay for. I thought maybe this particular stylist didn’t know what she was doing, but when I looked around, all of the stylists I saw were passing the flat iron through everyone’s hair way more than once. I just hate stylists that treat everyone’s hair the same. An experienced stylist knows better than this. If anyone knows anyone in this area that knows how to handle natural, delicate hair, please let me know.
