I’ve been here twice to pick up food when my wife and I had a hankering for cheesesteak subs. Somehow this seems to be one of the only places in our area that makes them. As an only option, they make a decent sub, but I compare everything to my favorite place back home in Owings Mills and unfortunately this doesn’t come close. Maybe it’s the way the subs are tightly wrapped in foil, which results in a thinner sub with softer bread, or maybe it’s the frequency with which I bit into chewy parts of the meat, but whatever it was, it just wasn’t coming together for me. It was just okay. The boardwalk fries were quite good, though, and the prices were reasonable. And I enjoyed being able to pick up a free soda on my way out(I treated myself to grape!).

Wish they were a bit more welcoming to new people. Feels like the music stopped and all the regulars stopped to stare when we walked in. Oh wait, there was no music on. Bummer.

Cross Posted under«Cheese Steak Mikes» too: It looks like a hole-in-the-wall, and I guess it «is». But come around to the side, and you’ll find a friendly neighborhood pub, with a great staff, and pretty good sandwiches and such. The Bulgogi is really good, I like it better in a bowl, than as a sandwich. The Philly Cheesesteak is good, and they even have«WHIZ». Julie, the day-time bartender couldn’t be a bigger sweetheart. Nice, but small, selection of beer. Stop by, you’ll feel like a regular in no time.

Just stopped by here because we were starving after a few hours of thrifting nearby. So glad we did. I had the house red– Woodbridge cab sav, not expensive but a nice easy drinker… And a very heavy pour doesn’t hurt. Mike had the Goose Island IPA. We had onion rings, the super cheese steak sub, and the blue cheese burger. First– order a side of chipotle mayo. It comes in the burger, and is great on the rings and on the cheese steak. It is also already on the burger. This is the 2nd best burger I’ve had in the last 2 years, since I’ve been in Maryland, and at half the price(also not raw and farm to table) Comes with blue cheese, thick crispy bacon, chipotle mayo, and the most sweet, non-pungent, red onions. My boyfriend normally removes all onions from his food, but he actually liked these. Seriously delicious. The whole combo was something I’ll be trying to recreate next time I host a party. As previously mentioned by another poster– the onion rings are not the old recipe… But if you add the chipotle mayo you may be able to forget that. The cheese steak was pretty good, reportedly, but kicked up a notch with the chipotle mayo.

This is not a true philly cheesesteak. If fact is not even close to what a philly steak taste like. It is also half the size. The meat is extremely salty and greasy as well. I am on a quest to find a decent cheesesteak in this area, and this place is definitely not it. For the people who give this place great reviews, please try a real cheesesteak if you are ever in Philadelphia. You will never go back here.

I love this place, and I love the cheesesteaks. My dad took me here when I first moved to area in 1995. Carryout counter in front with beer and sodas, and in the back is the bar(easier to pull down small drive on left of building and ample parking behind store — entrance on side) Through the years I’ve been coming here, the owners have changed at least twice since then, with typical good and bad results, most sadly is they the absence of what used to be best onion rings ever. BRINGBACKTHEBEERBATTEREDONIONRINGSPLEASE! The food is nothing fancy, typical bar food. I get the super cheesesteak with provolone and mozzarella sticks. The sub could be fatter but the bread is always good. I usually call for carryout and it’s always ready when I get there, but if I have the time I will go to the bar and watch a game. They always have the best waitresses and like someone else said it’s typically full of regulars, who are always welcoming. Service is always quick.

I’ve been craving a great steak and cheese and when I read the reviews for Cheesesteak Mikes, I had to give it a try. Located on New Hampshire Ave: Tip: make sure you slow down or you will miss the parking lot. I was surprised that its not a true restaurant, but more of an order and go place(Mom & Pop). The cheesesteak was average. I haven’t had a craving to return. Decent quick food.

I’d call the place steak Mikes Indeed go with the Super size cheesesteak and you should be happy with the meat. I got onion and they were well fried and maybe the bread was ok but after the last order I wanted more cheese so this time I asked for 2x cheese wiz and 2x provolone for my wife. Woman on the phone seemed to understand this but when we got home I did not see any difference from the first order; still a tad light on cheese Vs. yea’ standard sub. So when I liked the taste, I may search elsewhere for another place next time.

The only thing gourmet at Cheese Stake Mikes are the people. If your local or in the era it’s a nice local sandwich place with a very small hole in the wall pub in back. The best kept secret here is that the woman of the family who runs CSM s roast fresh turkey for all of the turkey sandwiches on the menu. Order one and you won’t be disappointed.

For anybody who has never had a real philly cheesesteak, Mike’s is absolutely the farthest from having a real philly cheesteak. I am not saying the sandwich is bad. But it taste nothing like a philly steak. It is also a fraction of the size. There was an adorable asian bartender/waitress who is very efficient and sweet. She is the only reason I would go back.

This place was great, its hidden behind the carryout but I’m glad I was invited to this place. At the bar it seems as if the people there know each other, everyone is really friendly. The food was surprisingly good. The bartender July was great, always with a big smile and very attentive.

Pretty good cheesesteak. They made my order just as I asked and was delightfully surprised. Chesesteak Mike’s has gained a new customer.

From the outside, Cheesesteak Mikes looks like a shady establishment. However, once you step foot inside, you are welcomed by one of the hidden mom & pop establishments Silver Spring has to offer. I’ll keep it short and simple, like their menu, get the cheesesteak. They are the best in the area. Truly comparable to a Philly cheese steak. The fries are delicious. The prices are fair. If you seek comfort food or are from the Philadelphia area and miss a truly, good cheesesteak, come to Mikes to get your fix.

Food is edible, sometimes even good. Reasonably priced. They don’t lie when they say they have the coldest canned drinks in the county. Any colder and they would be frozen.

I’ve tried to order food from there three times. And, all three times the people have been rude. One person even hung up on me for no reason. I will never go there. Such bad customer service.

Only enough seating for four people total with two small tables. I made the mistake of opting to dine in because I didn’t feel like spilling pieces of cheesesteak all over me in my car again and I was starving. It was so freakin hot in there that I sweated through my dress shirt as if I had just run a half marathon. Boardwalk fries tasted like frozen fries with Old Bay thrown all over it. The«super» cheesesteak was the same as their regular cheesesteak to me. Maybe it had a pinch of extra meat? Anyways, the difference was negligible but the price difference was not. Stick to the regular cheesesteak. Actually, stick to other places for cheesesteak.

Mikes’ has, well… a great cheese steak! I like mine with cheese whiz and provolone, which they gladly fulfilled, and then I grab a can of soda from the fridge and have a great lunch/dinner/afternoon snack. The menu has a number of sandwiches, appetizers, and pizzas that I haven’t tried yet, and pretty decent fries with a light crisp and a dash of seasoning. I recently went to Philadelphia and tried the ‘original’ cheesesteak places and, let me tell ‘ya, I much prefer Cheesesteak Mikes. But apparently any Philadelphian will tell you where to get a really good cheesesteak other than the touristy places. Meanwhile, I’ll go to Mike’s. I hope to try their other sandwiches soon, and just a hint; get the Super Cheese Steak for an extra dose of goodness.

Sometimes you just gotta take a chance on a hole in the wall. Just passing through and was hungry as I was filling my tank of gas next door. They nicely toast the hoagie roll and hubby enjoyed his cheesesteak. I got a turkey melt which was sorta like a turkey Reuben and they loaded it with lots of thousand island, which I love as a a self proclaimed condiment slut. Two sandwiches for $ 13, ill take it!

3.5 I was conflicted on the rating Cheesesteak Mikes should get, but I think 3.5 will suffice for now. First thing I tried on the menu was the Cheesesteak. As a matter of fact, it was the Cheesesteak combo that came with Boardwalk Fries and a drink($ 9.50). The cheesesteak was decent, but those fries were the highlight of the night. I was more intrigued in finishing those fries more than the cheesesteak itself. The second visit consisted of an order of Chicken Tenders with a side of those Boardwalk Fries again. Once again, the fries were on point. With that being said, the three huge tenders were seasoned abundantly and ended up being tremendous. So what am I trying to tell you throughout this review? Boardwalk Fries — get them. Good luck with parking in front of the restaurant: there are not too many parking spaces in front, and consider the fact that Cheesesteak Mikes shares parking with a couple of stores on the strip.
