Disappointed-they closed shop at the end of 2015. It was a good place for a very long time.

Our waitress was amazing helping everyone. She took command and made sure each person understood what they were ordering. I ordered the stuffed filet medium, it was lovely. I could have used more mushrooms, and a bit less sautéed spinach. The chili relleno is actually an egg/green chili casserole which I loved. Not spicy at all. The loaded potatoes were great according to my relatives. Tortellini was awesome, I tried my niece’s-yum. Desserts were great too. Only complaint is that the large salad to share should have dressings on the side, not just ranch dressing. Put out 2 or 3 choices for the patrons to apply their own.

It appears that this place is out of business. Lights out, no one home. It’s a really long drive out of town, so I hope to help others from making the useless trip. Maybe just closed on Mondays? Don’t know, but Unilocal review indicated it was open. Call first!

Good local spot! Recommended by our hotel. Good steak– flat iron– medium, cooked perfectly! My boyfriend got the prime rib, it was delicious and the aujus sauce was incredible. Lobster bisque soup was great– big chunks of lobster. They serve moose drool beer which was a pleasant surprise! The service was ok. He didn’t know much about the menu or beer selection, kept having to ask other servers. But overall it was good eats!

Let me start by saying the service was fantastic. I should stop with that. We were in town seeing relatives and read all of the great reviews so we had to go. Well… The medium prime rib came out very well done and the coconut shrimp were greasy, chewy, and the oil tasted past its prime. When a replacement for the prime rib came it was almost a translucent rare. The lentil soup would have been very promising if the beans had been cooked. Not to worry though, they gladly adjusted the bill, but it still proved to be the wrong night for us to try their establishment.

Wonderful place to celebrate or to take company from out of town. Friendly and wonderful food! I had the Oscar Chicken and my husband had the Salmon and both are amazing. Great house salad and warm yummy bread! A diamond in this small town

Me and my husband went here for our 1 year Anniversary dinner! The food and service was absolutely amazing! I love the rustic western décor as this place use to be a carrol years ago they have kept their history and aimed to give top of the line food and service. I highly recommend that you try this place you will not be disappointed!

My friends and I wanted to try this popular steakhouse. We weren’t disappointed. We all had steaks; I sampled the Peppercorn New York and it was outstanding. Done to a perfect«medium» and very flavorful with peppercorn crust and scallions! Great service! Well stocked bar! Fun, retro — west, casual atmosphere. Highly recommend!

The Mesquite Tree is a Sierra Vista treasure. The food and staff are both great and the restaurant is the perfect blend of casual and cozy. It is a very nice atmosphere and even though the décor is dated you can enjoy a great meal here. All dinner comes with a delicious salad to share and bread. I highly recommend their soups for a starter. My favorites are the lobster bisque and cream of mushroom. Although the food is excellent, the prices are high which is why I only gave 4 stars.

A bit pricey and décor is in need of update, however, food was delicious and we received outstanding service. The owner came over at end of meal and asked about our dining experience, and appeared genuine in wanting to ensure it had been pleasant.

Our lucky recent visit to the Mesquite Tree Grill was filled with great service, amazingly good food in generous quantities and a selection of wines, side dishes, cocktails and desserts that were all standout items. Prices are cheap by our standards(San Diego) and preparations were exactly per our orders. A flat iron steak prepared rare was tender, substantial for the price and perfectly done. A $ 22 combination of Prime Rib and baby back ribs(1⁄3 rack) were also done perfectly. The BBQ sauce was nicely spicy, the meat succulent and horseradish was provided in both creamy and raw choices. The clam chowder appetizer was filled with crab, had almost no cheapo potatoes and was prepared with a nice spiciness. The salad was crisp and a side bowl was provided for me to help my wife finish the very large serving. The blue cheese dressing was plentiful and filled with chunks of blue cheese. Our dinners and dining experience were superb. What an asset to Sierra Vista.

The Mesquite Tree is one of the better places in the area to get REAL good food, I have been visiting them over the past month, the prime rib is among the best I have ever had,(I grew up on a ranch in Utah) the silver saddle in Tuscan is better, but I do have to say The Mesquite Tree’s rib eye steak is just downright awesome, by far the best dish they have in my opinion. My suggestion. Save your $ 20 you would spend at your local neighborhood grill and put it toward a real meal at The Mesquite Tree. The exterior of the building is not what you would expect, the interior is rustic. They have a really good drawing of Ronald Regan… I approve. The staff is a small family type staff, but the staff fits the building… the food is by far the best thing about this place.

Okay, lets be honest, The Mesquite Tree doesn’t have the best décor… its a little funky and dated inside… but you’re not there to stare at the walls, you’re there to EAT! The food at Mesquite Tree is excellent! I had the southwest alfredo and I literally had to force myself to stop eating it… it was soooooo good! Not too spicy, but the chunks of jalapeño make it easy to tailor your spicy preference. The sauce is creamy, the noodles are perfectly al dente, and the steak is so tender that you can cut it with your fork! Its indulgent and so worth it! My husband got a steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables… his steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection and the sides were hot and tasty. Our service was great as well. The Mesquite Tree is a little funky inside but the food speaks for itself and we’ll definitely be back!

We had a very nice dinner at the Mesquite Tree. Wait staff was attentive, but as other reviews noted, they do congregate in the front area as if there were little to do. It did not impact our service. The food was very good. I would not say excellent, but I would certainly return. The prices were high given the décor, seating, and generally basic accomodations. Portions were generous… especially the steak cuts. One pasta dish was less than desireable and the mushroom app could have been cooked longer, but we had 6 people so 1 off dish was not terrible. The bill was misleading. The detailed bill showed the pre-included tip(percentage is determined by the number of people in your group which is weird). The CC slip you sign hides the fact that the tip is included which is a very poor practice and one I have never seen. This cost a full star because is is deceptive and felt shady. Overall, pay attention to the bill, stick to meat dishes, and the Mesquite Tree can be a nice evening out.

Potential to be the best restaurant in town. Food is always good, especially the specials. Unfortunately they cut some corners here and there on fresh ingredients. Atmosphere could use an update. Try the Vargas steak, very good! Chicken Oscar and the Trout Piccata are also favorites. Bar usually has a different selection of beers and makes great cocktails also.

My husband took me here for a dinner date the other day. It looks run-down from the outside, but the décor inside is very quaint and very«cute» and quiet. The food here is pretty good for a small town like SV. I had the steak and lobster and it was cooked very well and delightfully delicious! I wish I could come back here again soon! :) I think I may just take a good friend here for her birthday!

Really great! My filet was a bit undercooked but so tender. The mushrooms are hit or miss, I wasn’t sure about the cheese layer drizzled over the top. The salad only comes with ranch dressing but it is unlimited. Definitely will return soon. Service was great.

Went for a family member birthday dinner wanting somewhere quieter but still nice. Waitress was nice enough, but pretty unattentive. We were a ‘large party’ with 8 people so I expected a gratuity charge, but more on that later. Food: was ok, but just that. Although most of the appetizers taste and look like they are fresh made there. Worth the $ 9 price tag. Entrees oh geez! Be prepared to SPEND a good bit for whatever your choice is, and don’t expect too much from it in return. With the veggies I saw in appetizers and the asparagus that topped my sons and my chicken dish(chicken oscar, and I wouldn’t recommend it at all… ever) I was longing for just a vegetarian dish of grilled veggies with pasta. Service: was ok, but just that, barely. No refills for the party minus the one coffee drinker. So most of the staff hung out in the empty bar area(it was very slow tonight). We had to go get our own steak sauces for the party, something we saw another table have to do as well as their to-go boxes. So all in all I would have given a 3rd star(but no more) if that had been our night. Then the checks came, my bill was 50.00 for our 2 drinks, app, and 1 entrée. Why might they do that you may ask… well that’s simple there was a charge of 5.00 because we shared and then a 20% yes you read right 20% gratuity added to every check because we were a large party. As I said I expected a gratuity charge but have never seen one go higher than 15%. And I am normally a 20% tipper so I am not just being cheap here, I hope. So here I sit with my cup of noodles(I couldn’t eat the chicken at all, so I had the side veggies and my son ate the chicken and potato) wishing that at least I would’ve had gotten a yummy meal for our money :(

Totally shocked on how the food was so delicious! The restaurant was in the middle of nowhere. I was a little hesitant at first but I did not want to drive back to the hotel. Once inside, we were immediately greeted and escorted to our table(A+ for customer service). I ordered their Prime Rib, medium rare of course, with a side of sauteed zucchini and herbs. While waiting for the food, the waitress checked on us every so often. We tried their stuffed mushroom and fried calamari… yummmmmmmmmm. In less than 15 min, our food was ready. The Prime Rib was cooked to perfection and zucchini was sauteed just right. If you are around Sierra Vista, and feel like steak, I would DEFINITELY recommend this place.

Brak and the Zombie Girl were in search of a Friday dinner destination on Thanksgiving weekend. We wanted to avoid the mad tourist crush and lack of parking in downtown Bisbee, but food options are thin when you get outside Bisbee, so this was a somewhat challenging task. There were plenty of chain restaurants in the area, but mostly with lousy reviews, even for what they were. So we opted for the Mesquite Tree, and weren’t disappointed. We both had a 9-oz Filet and they were fantastic. The salad and bread were nothing to write home about, and the cocktails were weak — and those minor issues kept me from laying the coveted 5-star Brak review on the place, but everything else was great, including the service, which was outstanding — friendly, timely, and attentive. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area staying at the Casa de San Pedro B&B(see my review of this OUTSTANDING destination).
