This is the first Jo-Ann store I’ve ever seen *inside* a shopping mall! This location kind of gets back to Jo-Ann’s roots with its main focus on fabric and sewing supplies. It is a significantly smaller store than, say, the location on the east side of Tucson, but although it’s been several months since I’ve been to that one, the fabric selection feels about the same to me. There is a representation of beading, yarn, scrapbooking, cake decorating, etc, but my guess is the offerings on those other crafts have probably been slimmed down relative to some of Jo-Ann’s other locations. Jo-Ann’s direct mail and email coupons are pretty frequent, there’s always *something* on sale, and there seems to be at least one coupon in the store smartphone apps at all times. You can use multiple coupons in the same transaction, just not multiple discounts on the same item. So, although the sticker prices look high at times, there’s little reason to pay full price for anything here unless you’re in desperate need to finish a project or a need an item that’s excluded from coupons(e.g. irons and sewing machines – you’d have to wait for sales rather than using any old coupon). I’m going keep giving business to the locally-owned quilting and craft stores as much as I can. However, as someone who works full time, it is hard to beat the convenience of Jo-Ann being open 7 days a week and well into the evenings Monday-Friday. I’ll feel no guilt shopping for apparel fabrics and supplies here, though, given that our other options in town for that are basically Hobby Lobby and Wal-Mart.
