Still delicious. Shreveport staple. Fresh fish, great rolls and great sashimi. I love the Yellowtail-jalapeño appetizer but it’s off the menu. I come back every time I’m in town.

The sushi is probably the best I’ve ever had.(the BMW roll). But the service is one of the worst. When I walked in, I was not greeted by a host, I was told to «wait just a minute» and 5 minutes later I was finally seated. There wasn’t a line, and this is 4pm on a Friday. Not busy. I had a conversation about exactly what I wanted. Fresh yellowtail nigiri. My server, Heather told me I would receive 6 pieces of raw fish on rice. Instead I got 3 pieces of sashimi not on rice. When I asked why my order came out wrong, «I’m sorry, I don’t speak Chinese, and Veronica isn’t here today to mediate for us.» In what world of customer service is this response even okay? The number of pieces for each roll is not listed on the menu and my server should have been able to communicate with the sushi chef exactly what I wanted. Instead I got a guesstimate and a wrong order. Management, please do a better job with training your staff.

I would never go here again. The food is decent but the staff are just very weird. First night I moved to Shreveport I went here with a colleague I was suppose to start working. She’s a lady and a housemate of mine here in Shreveport. We decided to get some take outs and waited at the bar while having a drink. The bar tender is an older Asian lady who would not shut up for a moment. She kept standing there and putting her 2 cents in every conversation we had. A week later I went back there on a date. While I was having dinner with my date(and trust me it looked like a date because we had ordered a bottle of wine and etc) she passed by our table and started looking at me. Then right in front of my date she told me «weren’t you here the other night with some other girl?» CANYOUGUYSBELIEVETHIS??? The waiter we had was a nice guy but unfortunately I caught him checking out my date a few times and was starring at her every single time he came to our table … Even when he was talking to me! Anyway never going back again.

*Disclaimer. I am a SASHIMI snob. I eat and know all things about Raw Fish. I am not a roll or bento box eater…* Oh boy… Seriously. *bleep* *bleep* *bleep*… I anticipated coming here because it seemed as though it would be the best option in the Shreveport area, on a Sunday, on busy Youree drive. I will not EVER step foot back in this establishment. Ever again! The parking lot was packed with cars but to my surprise as I entered, I was the second party in the joint. WEIRD! Let’s take it from the top… Despite the low 3 ½ star rating, I decided to visit this Sushi joint because reviews were based on rolls and portions. Neither of which I am interested in. I am a straight SASHIMILOVER! I eats it all! I entered this place and was greeted by a very nice woman and shown to the bar area since I am dining Solo. My waiter(damnit. I forgot his name) was new, wired, and extremely jittery(I ignored it. Hey I’ve been nervous my first day at a new job as well). I asked about Plum wine. He had to go and check on it. I asked about Shu Mai. he had to go and check on it… I asked about a «Sushi Box». yep. you guessed it. he had to go and check on it. He didn’t know anything– poor thing :(. A complimentary cold crab salad like thingy known as the«chef’s special» was given to me and was actually quite tasty. It went along peeeerrrffeccttly with my plum wine(see pic). The ShuMai was also pretty good but the teriyaki and ponzu sauce lacked. whatever. Then I ordered sashimi tuna and white fish and the eel sushi. Also a California roll for *bleep’s* and giggles. Everything was good… EXCEPT… 1. The tune was a pale *bleep* pink. not the bustling red raw color I am accustomed to. Heck, all fresh tuna is red and not the same color as salmon. NEXT! 2. The white fish had been soaked in water/vinegar way toooo long! I couldn’t even taste any consistency. I known white fish is naturally bland but DAMN. Felt like I was chewing a rubbery *bleep* piece of flesh 3. The eel came out of a microwave. Okay. let me back up and be fair. I love eel cold. Maybe that’s not custom, but FISHISSUPPOSEDTOBECOLD! When I heard the microwave DING I popped my head up from texting and saw the«Sushi Chef» taking the Eel out of a microwave foil tin and placing it on the rice for my Nigiri/Sushi roll. *bleeping* WEIRD! 4. The California roll was standard… 5. Everything was«OKAY.» and I even thought about returning and just eat mediocre rolls since the place was clean and the California roll was edible until… THEREWAS A BLEEPING H-A-I-R INMYFOOD!!! RIGHTUNDERTHEWHITEFISHANDBYTHE *BLEEPING* WASABI!!! *Bleep* hit the fan and I told my waiter about it. A bus boy/water boy asked if I wanted to take the rest home and I said some unchoosy words to him. I try to remain calm and not dramatic… but a hair? YUCK! I spoke with the manager and everything. EVERYTHING was cleared from my tab. I felt bad for my waiter. it wasn’t his fault. The manager also asked if I could visit another time. EH… HELLNO. Someone needs a hair net! Those bandanas aren’t working. One star for everyone kissing my *bleep* and me not having to pay for the ¾th’s of the wine I drunk. See pics! I feel sick as all hell now. — A girl from the big city

Everything was great! Came in for lunch and ordered the chicken teriyaki lunch which i had previously had a few times back for diner. The lunch comes with soup OR salad. The diner comes with soup AND salad, I read one review that said otherwise and just wanted to correct it. But the service was great. They seem to have a few new servers but there are two there that are really top notch! If you go ask for ARIC he was on point and very knowledgeable about the menu. They also have teriyaki bento boxes which are different from the lunch/dine teriyaki. Over all the place never lets me down! Tell you friends and family because fresh fish is here and it wants you to fill your belly! Can’t go wrong here guys and gals!

I would like to update my review for clarification, as I am being harassed by a «loyal customer». This person states that I am misleading everyone because I ordered the«wrong» thing and it is my own fault. I went back in today and posted a picture of the menu. Here are the facts: 1. I asked the(self-admitted) new server what the difference was between a lunch bento box and the teriyaki lunch. He stated that the lunch bento box comes with, «teriyaki chicken or beef, soup OR salad, rice, and a California roll». I said,“that’s it? No gyoza or even orange slices?” And he said no. So I ordered the teriyaki lunch as I am not going to pay a dollar or so extra for a single California roll. Is that my fault if the meals do in fact come with all sorts of other goodies? Absolutely not. It is the server’s fault and the establishment’s fault for not training their staff and for not putting these facts on the lunch menu. All six of the people at my table were witnesses to not only the menu but also this exchange with the server. Even my husband ordered the teriyaki lunch because the bento box seemed pitiful. 2. The lunch menu specifically states soup OR salad. There is tacky white paper and tape over this portion of the menu to correct what was probably«and» at some point. But apparently, according to the person harassing me, I am mistaken. I’ve paid a special visit to the restaurant today, just so I could post a photograph of the menu as proof. 3. The food was disgusting. The«steak» was of the lowest quality possible. The yakisoba was awful. The serving size of everything except for the gross yakisoba was pitiful. The torn towels and the«corrected» menu was tacky. My family knows Japanese food. We know sushi. Before moving to this state we had eaten sushi almost weekly. And yet I am being harassed to change my review. This person also posted a review in response to mine, with a photo of the menu where she wrote in(you can tell it’s written in) that the meals come with soup and salad. I would sincerely hope that this restaurant does not have this person under their employ. That is not what Unilocal-ing is about. I should not be harassed and criticized into changing my review based on that person’s opinion of the place. Previous Review: You have got to be kidding me. I have had better Japanese food in ALASKA for cripes sakes! We brought the in-laws in for their first Japanese/sushi experience based on the reviews. I was excited. They bring you hot towels, as is the norm for sushi/Japanese cuisine. They lost points with me because the towels were obviously torn off from a larger towel. That I have never seen before. Ratty edges are just tacky. Perusing the menu for lunch, I noticed that the meals came with soup OR salad. Really. I’ve eaten in a lot of sushi places and it is always AND. UGH. I checked out the teriyaki bento box and asked our server what else it came with aside from a California roll. Guess what? Nothing. Not even a gyoza or an orange wedge. Sigh. Fine. Two of us ordered the chicken teriyaki, I ordered beef teriyaki, MiL ordered the Yakisoba and my son ordered two sushi rolls. The soups were brought out and the bowls seemed half filled. I ordered the clear soup and it was just alright. I’ve had many positive experiences with clear soup before and it it prompted me into learning how to make it at home. Had I eaten this clear soup first, I would never had attempted it as it was boring. They bring out the food and my husband stiffens. He’s an easy-going kind of guy and always polite. He instantly turned snappy. WHAT was laid before us? A little black cast iron dish with a teeny chicken breast or slab of steak on top of a bed of onions. My dish included ONE soggy, canned baby corn. The individual bowl of rice amounted to about half a cup. This was NOT a joke. My mother-in-law’s Yakisoba was spaghetti noodles! NOT buckwheat noodles. Just normal, everyday spaghetti noodles! She gave me a taste and it was awful. So bland. Just no. My steak was definitely low quality. I would have guessed it to be shaped ground beef if not for the fat coating each piece. It tasted gamey. There was more onions on the teriyaki dishes than there was meat, vegetables OR rice. Just AWFUL. The checks were presented with Andes mints. That’s great and all,(they happen to be my favorite candy) but at a Japanese/Sushi place? SO crazy weird. We finished our food and were starving when we left. Without a doubt, we will not be returning. I will also be posting a picture of what a teriyaki bento box is SUPPOSED to look like. And we should know. I wish I had taken a photo of our meal. The little cast iron dish was about the size of a hand. The chicken/steak was thin and maybe the size of a palm. Just SO disappointed.

I think I have tried every sushi place in the area at least once and Sake Sushi is my favorite. Their sushi is consistently fresh and their service friendly and attentive. They have the standard fare but they also have a lot of very delicious creations of their own. I’ve had the Haru Maki appetizer other places but their rendition is the best and an excellent value @ $ 5.75 for how much they give you. Probably my favorite sushi roll there that I’ve had is the Peace Maker. I’m also very fond of the Maple Roll, the Smokey Mountain and the Al Cannon. I frequently get one of their Bento Boxes with the Beef Teriyaki(their beef teriyaki is always very tender and tastes awesome) with the California Roll and either the sushi or sashimi. If you sit at the sushi bar, you will get a freebie crab salad appetizer handed to you from a sushi chef.

Yummy! Came here for a quick bite before Shreveport Opera and they were so quick! Granted it was early in dinner service but I was still impressed. BF enjoyed his Steve Roll and the Ichi Ban was a lot of food for a reasonable price. A huge plus — really strong drinks!!!

Great sushi place. Service excellent, vey friendly. Love Viva Las Vegas and Volcano. Appetizers I like are edamame and tempura. My wife loved the teriyaki. So you have a wide choice. Sake was just right temp.

I like my sushi clean and light. I want to be able to taste the fish, and the crab and the roe. As such I usually stay away from rolls that have a lot of cream cheese or sauces. I go for something like a classic rainbow roll. My first time at Sake Sushi, I ordered a Volcano roll. I will admit that I am comparing this to my other sushi restaurant(which will remain unnamed) and at that restaurant the Volcano is very simple and straightforward, with the clean tastes that I like. But at Sake Sushi, it is being crushed by avalanches of heavy sauces and spicy mayonaise… just the sorts of things I usually avoid. You couldn’t even taste the fish or the rice, the only thing you tasted was the river of sauce that they’d slathered over everything. Also, the Volcano is $ 11.50 and it’s only four pieces. They were big pieces… but $ 11.50 for four pieces? Seems a little pricey. I also got the seaweed salad, which was ok, but I’ve had better at other sushi restaurants. All in all, I was not impressed and I won’t be going back.

The food is super and fresh. The hold-back is the time required to eat here. You are greeted with a hot towel upon sitting and you order some terrific-sounding, and ultimately marvelous, fare. Then… you wait… and wait… When it seems you are sure to EXPIRE, your meal, well worth the wait, arrives. A four-star meal. Enjoy, but plan.

Menu lacks sushi. They have what we call the«bare minimum». Not many choices and what they do have is lacking excitement. Gas station sushi is more fun than this place. The waiters are polite enough though, and the prices were reasonable.

I’ve been meaning to try this place out considering their«grand opening» paint has been up for awhile, so my fiancé’ took me there this evening. As a sushi snob from Northern California, I have to say I was hesitant to even try sushi here in Bossier City. Upon arriving we were greeted by the manager at the door and quickly seated. My fiancé’ and I sat across from each other in a booth, which was pretty chic. However, I quickly moved next to him when we realized the table was not exactly equidistant for both of us to be comfortable to eat at. The menu prices I will say are a bit steep considering there is no complimentary edamame or miso soup waiting for us. They did provide a warm towel for us, which is seldom practiced anymore. We ordered gyoza, the B.M.W. and Steve Rolls, and a Soft Shell Crab Hand Roll. It’s hard to mess up fried dumplings, and they did a great job with the appetizer. Not too greasy, and good serving size of 6. With the B.M.W being a standard roll at most sushi places, I was quite impressed with how FRESH that fish was! They provided nothing short of what a B.M.W. roll is and should always be. The Steve roll was nice and crisp, and unlike most rolls that have cream cheese in it, it was very subtle and not heavy. Now the hand roll caught me off guard as they put the whole entire soft shell crab in the roll. It came out with its arms sticking straight out of it, and while it tasted pretty amazing, I didn’t like seeing what I was putting in my mouth. Overall, great quality fish, and perhaps the prices reflects the quality of fish they provide. I will go back as they also have a variety of lunch specials, and a number of deserts too! If you want wallet friendly, hum drum sushi, I highly recommend going somewhere else.

FRESHSUSHI. My biggest criticism about every single sushi place in Shreveport/Bossier is the fish isn’t fresh enough. Yes, Sake Sushi is the most expensive sushi restaurant in town, but I willingly pay for it because the quality of the fish is that much better. Seriously, they regularly carry Halibut that is flown in directly. Amazing! The Good: Wide menu, done right with all the typical sushi offerings you expect. Fresh fish! Excellent staff, they employ nice college kids who try hard. Food arrives on time. The Bad: The highly stylized décor is a bit cheezy. Others have mentioned the price. This is an expensive restaurant, but it’s a ‘you get what you pay for’ place. If you want cheap, go to Ichiban, then complain about the crap service and quality. Also, be aware that some things are periodically off the menu if they haven’t been flown in. It can be a minor inconvenience.

I went to Sake Sushi based on a colleague’s recommendation, since I was here for the night. The atmosphere is nice with the typical Japanese menu selection. I ordered the yellowtail appetizer and some kind of salad(they didn’t have a poke salad, but it was similar) and it was pricey, but the order was completed quickly. The appetizer was a special and was great… fish was fresh and the peppers were spicey. The salad was good and I would visit this place again. There was some issue with the ventilation system, so I’m glad I didn’t stay… a moisture smell and the neighboring businesses closed; they were unaware of the issue. It was an enjoyable experience, but the cost is high for the quality of experience/atmosphere. Food was great, but I think you could match the quality of fish at other sushi restaurants for a lower price. I don’t mind paying more for quality of food or service, however I spent $ 28 with tip for an appetizer and salad, no beverage. While the portions were appropriate, I was still hungry and could have eaten a roll, which would have run almost $ 40…that’s my negative.

I think this may be my my new favorite place to get rolls in Shreveport. Staff was very friendly and offed good service. The lack of a liquor license is a little problem, but I’m sure they will have this fixed soon. If you are in the mood for some over the top rolls, this is your place. The décor is modern and clean and the bathrooms are very well done and very clean. Prices are on the high side but made up for by the level of service and portion size. On a side note we popped in after a movie on night and even though it was just moments before the kitchen closed the staff made it a point to welcome us and take care of our order. A++ We will be back for more.
