If you’re not into atmosphere, but are into outstanding fried catfish, hushpuppies, french fries, chicken strips, pinto beans and traditional cole slaw, this place is pretty hard to beat. Unfortunately, there was a group of about 80 – 90 there on a Saturday following the funeral of a wonderful young 20-​year old man, and his grandfather was kind enough to treat everyone to a 4:00 PM dinner. The restaurant just kept bringing more and more food (served buffet style), and the food at the end was even better than that at the beginning.

A great surprise. Found this Johnny’s on Unilocal driving from MS back to Texas. Took a chance and it was great. My girlfriend and I were greeted promptly, seated and had food on our table in a matter of 4 minutes. They gave us sides to start which were great! I ordered the whole catfish — no one serves whole fish any more. It’s a shame. My friend got shrimp. When our meals came it was sooooo hot and fresh we couldn’t eat it right away. WE TRIED — believe me. A great batter… I wish I would have bought some while I was there. It’s for sale at the front.
The staff was great. The young man that served us kept my glass full and constantly made eye contact.
I’ll be back!

Friendly staff — eager to assist and take care of customers. The food… is awesome! This is my place of choice for catfish when I am in Shreveport. Had the catfish and shrimp dinner and I have leftovers for another meal. Generous portions of sides that come with meal without extra charge. Green tomatoes are delicious! It’s a must stop!

I came here a few times on my lunch break. I really don’t have any complaints on their food… the service though, is just. rude!
My first few visits I ignored simply b/​c I was on a rushed lunch break and this place was the only place that was near. I asked if I could eat there but have my food in a to-​go box so I can quickly go when I was ready due to being on a 30min lunch break. The lady was steady trying to insist to have my food on a dish plate. She put my food that was already in the to-​go box onto the plate w/​an attitude. 10 mins later I requested a to-​go box again… so that was frustratingly pointless b/​c THATS what I was trying to explain the entire time?!
I also asked if I could have my drink in a to-​go cup and she charged me extra for it.
Last time there & never planning on going back. I give 2 stars for the food but 0 for the service!!!

Rudest wait staff I’ve ever experienced. They had a conversation loud enough for us to hear arguing who had to get up to wait on our table. It was very uncomfortable so we just got up and left.

Great food here. Got the catfish filets and they came with these awesome pickled tomatoes and a lot of sides. Couldn’t finish it all, but it was good– all of it. Check this out if you get a chance.

Stopped there on our way to Baton Rouge. Food was exceptionally good. Even the vegetables and lemonade. Service was a little slow but very friendly and accommodating. We would surly go again and again!

Great place! They have probably too much staff there so you’ll get served faster than most restaurants. It’s a nice family business. Food tastes great and you get a lot of it. Love it

Down-​home style catfish with coleslaw and beans. Hushpuppies were bottomless and the service was top-​notch. But the absolute finisher was the HOMEMADE fried chocolate pie. Unbelievable.
