This is actually a review for the Global Power Museum, which is open to the public just beyond the base gate. You will need a photo ID to enter, and I’m not sure what the admission policy is for non-US residents. Once you get in, though, you will see a huge assortment of planes parked outside, all in good shape and representing a huge slice of aviation history, particularly US bombers. There are a couple B-52s, which makes sense given that Barksdale continues to host the B-52 as part of Strategic Air Command, but also some much more rare planes, including an SR-71 Blackbird, which is awesome. It’s free, worth the trip just to see the planes parked outside, and apparently there’s more inside, although we didn’t have a chance to go in. You also might get to see some of the still-flying B-52s on the tarmac or flying around the base.
