My eye doctor retired 2 years ago, and I was dreading finding a new eye doctor, until this past summer when I was referred to Dr. Keith Scheinblum at Cohen’s Optical in Shirley. Keith and his team are by far the most professional, competent and courteous group I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. I have never seen so clearly. I highly recommend giving them a chance to do for you what they did for me. You will be happy you did.

Not only does she work wonders to match the customer to the perfect glasses, she knows every single person who comes into the store and greets them by name the moment they come through the door! My family any I have been going here for over 10 years. While the prices aren’t the cheapest around, the customer service is over the top! The ladies really go out of their way to satisfy customers. I’m a little rough on my glasses so I go back often for the free adjustments. I’ve recommended them to many friends and will continue to do so.

I have been going Cohen’s optical for over 10 years. I keep going back because of the excellent service. Leslie and Roseanne are the best they understand how to treat the client. Even if they are busy they will greet you and make you feel important. Dr Keith is a true professional. He knows his stuff. All I can say if you need eyeglasses this is the place to go Mark Richichi

I had a scheduled appointment and although the service was nice friendly and welcoming, it was unorganized; in a way that there were walk ins and appoints were taken as first come first served. I didnt think it was right. The glasses were not as stylish as I originally thought. When inquired about a groupon deal, i would only save $ 10 after spending $ 39 with my insurance in place. The facility was clean and inviting only thing that was bottled water.

After trying a different eye doctor I’m once again a fan of Cohen’s Optical, particularly this location. The ladies that handle the insurance and help you with your glasses and lenses are very knowledgable and helpful. The doctor is very personable and gave me a very thorough exam and was able to explain why my last pair of contacts were so awful and gave me the perfect new pair. I brought my husband to help me find fashionable and flattering frames and the woman who helped us was very patient as she went through dozens of frames with us. They were very considerate and tried to help us as quickly as possible since we had our 1 year old in tow. Any waiting that we did was done at the stop n shop while we did our groceries but even if we had to have waited in the store it would have been well worth the wait. Some suggestions were made for lens options but I didn’t feel like they were up-selling me to the point where they made me uncomfortable. Bring your coupons and they will do what they can to give you the best deal. I will definitely be getting all of my eye exams, frames and lenses at this location from now on, they are a wonderful winning team.

Dr. Scheinblum is excellent. He gave my wife & I the most thorough exam and test in many years. The staff is beyond expectation. I found Leslie to be the most exceptional member. She is truly honest and will give you what is best for you. Whether your budget is large or small, Leslie will find what is right for you. She works ALL the time. Everybody who comes in wants to see her. Leslie is a leader. I hope that Cohen’s knows what a diamond they have in her. Anyone who afford the time and expense to travel the distance out to Shirley, you will not be disappointed. I know that many people write in horror stories about other Cohen’s. Just go to this one and you will change your mind. I hope Cohen’s recognizes Leslie and all great employees. This is a great spot for Undercover Boss to do a filming for the show. I hope CBS is reading.

I found this place to be comparable to other optometrist office’s. If you say it is a complete hole — I defy you to find any business in shirley that is not a complete hole. ’nuff said. I only went to this location because I had an amazon local coupon. The reception area w/try-on glasses was uniform enough. The women behind the counter were amazingly pleasant, helpful, and cheerful. Of course they tried to up-sell me on the anti-glare and transition lenses, etc etc.(an extra $ 65(iirc) for anti-glare, min $ 160 for transitions). The wait time to see a doctor was less than 5 minutes from my stated appointment time.(I went during the early afternoon on a week day) The exam was quick and thorough, the only thing that displeased me about the time spent in the Dr. office was the fact he was trying to «sell» me the extra accessories for the glasses(he was telling me how good transitions are, the importance of anti-glare, etc). The Dr. was very responsive and attentive to my vision history and current ailments. I have no vision insurance, but an amazon local voucher for a certain amount of money, and I ended up paying 125%(of the value of the voucher) additionally out of pocket to match up for the total amount of my eyeglasses, w/the anti-glare added(the frames themselves, not including cost of eye exam, would have been $ 500 – 600 if entirely out of pocket.) I was a little surprised at the price, even though I made sure to intentionally shop in the lower-mid range priced eyeglass frames. I have not picked up my eyeglasses yet, nor had my final visit for measuring and adjusting and to receive my collected goods. All they gave me was a receipt for my credit card transaction and a wave goodbye, with a promise to call me in a week, which was a little disconcerting but I will have to place my trust in their system, on that regard. I expect the final leg of my interaction with Cohen’s in Shirley to be uneventful and positive. I am a very discerning customer, having worked in service industry for way too long than I care to admit. I will return and update this post if/when anything unduly calamitous or exceedingly positive occurs.

I received(literally) a 2-minute exam. This was the shortest/worst exam I have ever received. When I asked the woman who handles the insurance claims(office manager?) why I received such a horrible exam she replied, «It’s because you have Medicaid. The doctor can’t be bothered spending time with you because he gets paid much more with private insurance.» This is DISCRIMINATION!!! Because my insurance pays less then I’m WORTHLESS??? DONOTGOTOCOHEN’S FASHIONOPTICALUNDERANYCIRCUMSTANCES! I have read other reviews that were equally as horrible that had nothing to do with insurance. They are totally inept! If you don’t believe me, go ahead and Google them. You will find horrible reviews galore!
