This review is primarily for the miniature golf course, but Unilocal has all the offerings grouped together under one listing, so those looking for the driving range or another feature of the complex, please look for another review. The mini golf here is a well maintained, modern course of artificial turf, but lacks creativity or excitement that would make it a destination for repeat visits. The positives: Playing the course, I was impressed by how well the landscaping and course surface appeared. There are several artificial water sources, of which a few play a role in shaping the experience at more than one hole. I was delighted by a hole that employed the water power of a stream as a transport agent for the ball to get to another part of the course. The nearby complex has food available for a snack before or after a game. The negatives: The pristine course was unfortunately stark in several attributes that make an artificial turf course fun. Nowhere to be found are any fun signs or sculptures that suggest a theme for the course. There are no complex ramps, tunnels or obstacles to introduce a certain sense of mystery or challenge that are common on better courses. The immediate atmosphere of the course is penetrated on occasion by a view of the surrounding subdivision in which the course is embedded. This means that as one moves about the course, one will look up to see a house or two across the street, perhaps with an inhabitant mowing the lawn or entering and exiting the home. It’s off-putting and for me imparted a feeling that I was somehow disturbing the peace of the neighborhood. Conclusion:As-is, this course has a lot of nice features, but overall does not impress. This has the potential to be a five-star course if the following were performed: a) adding a creative theme to the course, with appropriate signage and sculptures, b) adding complex obstacles, ramps, and tunnels, c) using landscaping and/or artificial walls to block out the suburban reality on one side of the course.
