Monique nailed our wedding flowers! We talked over the phone several times, set up a pinterest board and she made it all happen at a reasonable price. We got married in Tahoe and wanted a classic, organic, modern with a little preppy vibe. She got it all perfectly and I loved everything. She was very open to changes and was wonderful about staying in contact as she purchased items as the wedding got close.

To celebrate my birthday seven friends gathered for a flower arranging class at my home. We were wowed from the minute we saw Monique bring in buckets of beautiful and unusual flowers (in colors I had chosen). Her engaging presentation was very well organized (including a 19 page handout) and filled with useful and interesting information. We all took notes and there were many questions — and then we were ready to create our beautiful centerpieces. The class exceeded all our expectations. This was a very «special day» for me. A Special Day Designs made our Special Day unforgettable! I was beyond lucky to find A Special Day Designs and Monique online after calling many other well known and advertised shops in the Sacramento area. From our first conversation over the phone, I found Monique to be a true professional who was able to help me create and execute my vision for my wedding at a very fair price. I was specifically looking for someone who knew how to work with tropical flowers (not everyone can do this correctly) and I had a decent budget to work with. Not only was Monique knowledgeable about working with tropical flowers, but she worked with my budget, providing me with options and in the end we had even more flowers than I ever could have imagined.
Throughout the process, Monique and I worked on a shared Pinterest Board so that she could see exactly what I was looking for, and she was able to provide me with her professional opinion and expertise as to what would work and what wouldn’t. I really appreciated her honest and realistic approach.
Monique created the majority of the floral arrangements for my wedding and she worked wonderfully with me and my family as we did some DIY arrangements for the chairs. Monique created the most stunning floral designs that not only carried out our vision of creating a Tropical/​Hawaiian environment, but they were beyond our imagination stunning and we received so many complements on all of her arrangements.
My bouquet was the most gorgeous I have ever seen and the mix of orchids, anthuriums, protera, ti leaves, grasses, and ferns created a cascade of tropical elegance that I just couldn’t put down. My girls loved their fans with the corsages attached and the dangling orchids — we have never seen such unique bridesmaids’ bouquets. The cross was designed in the most lovely way and the corsage on the lauhala pillow allowed our rings to be perfectly placed and tied. Monique’s attention to detail is exquisite as was demonstrated by the pearl and crystal accents that she added — they added the perfect amount of sophistication and sparkle without distracting from the beautiful blooms. The classic glass pearls that Monique incorporated were so special, and she finished them off as necklaces which allowed each of my bridesmaids (pearls from the bridesmaid fans), my mom (pearls from the cross), and me (pearls from my bouquet) to have a very special keepsake from the day. Monique’s designs have been burned in our memories and I can’t wait to see the pictures from the photographer.
I cannot tell you how over the top and completely blown away we were with Monique’s designs. Even my family from Hawaii (who work with tropicals themselves) raved about Monique’s work — this is a huge complement in itself. We love Monique’s artistry and appreciate her and A Special Day Designs for making our vision come to life.

I took a class with Monique after purchasing a deal through Living Social. I was interested in doing the arrangements for my wedding and after this class with Monique I feel much more prepared to take on this big task. She went over flower care, types or flowers and creating a «flower recipe». She also reviewed all of the products and tools we would need to make sure the flowers were properly cared for so that they would last through the event. I would definitely recommend her class and am looking forward to taking others in the future.

I took Monique’s floral design class. I loved it! It was very informative, loads of fun, and, I got an awesome bouquet to bring home. It lasted over a week.

I really enjoyed the floral design class I took with Monique last week in Sacramento. I learned some tricks of the trade that will save me money in the future — including what to grow in my own backyard that are good flowers for centerpiece arrangements. She was very creative and professional and I learned a lot. I would definitely consult with her or hire her for my flower needs in the future.

I found Monique by chance while on my laptop Google’ing around looking for a flower arranging class in my area. I was so impressed with her website and the fact that she offers brides a DIY opportunity. When I saw the DIY classes she offered on her site I contacted her so I could learn how to make a flower girl halo and corsage for my son’s upcoming wedding. She was available on a weekend and came to my home, bringing all of the supplies (flowers, wire cutters, wire, glue, etc.), including a printed out tutorial on how to make bows, halos and corsages. She also provided very good tricks of the trade information so that I could easily make these items on my own! She is so sweet and easy going as another reviewer mentioned. I wish we would have found her sooner so that she could have done the flowers for our son’s wedding. I plan to take more of her classes and thought it would even be fun to assemble some of my friends for a flower arranging class for a holiday arrangement! What fun!

In order to save some money, the flowers for my wedding were all DIY. I was having trouble finding a vendor to sell to me at a reasonable price and was getting very frustrated… Then came Monique! A friend found her website and we saw that she offered classes for DIY weddings, but also would help you order your own flowers. Monique responded quickly to my frantic e-​mail and gave me step by step instructions on how to get started with ordering and picking out the flowers. She was SO helpful, especially during the most stressful parts of the wedding planning! When we met Monique to pick up the flowers, she was very helpful and friendly, and knowledgeable about the care and transportation of the flowers. She even printed out instructions for me on making bouquets! If you are having a DIY wedding, I highly recommend Monique’s services for flowers.

Can I just say that I’m in love with Monique! I am so in love with the work she did for my wedding, it’s a shame that we left on our honeymoon the next day and I didn’t get to enjoy the flowers longer.
I am not a picky customer, but I realized that that made me a difficult customer. Because when Monique would ask what I liked I would reply with, «I like daisies and wildflowers, I dunno do whatever you think would look nice» haha Monique worked with me though and through pinterest and only one face to face meeting she pulled off exactly what was in my mind.
The best part were all the small surprises on the wedding day. A small brooch on my bouquet, the engraved initials on the Mothers wrist cuff corsages, and small touches like milk glass vases on the head table.
I would highly recommend Monique to anyone! Her style is one of a kind and she is a pleasure to work with!
