Excellent catfish fillets, excellent hush puppies, excellent tarter sauce, and large portions. This is what a catfish dinner is supposed to be like. You will have to go a long way to find any that’s better. Can’t wait to go back.

The Good: The best cole slaw I’ve ever had in my entire life! Like really, it’s #1. The pot roast I had could not have been cooked and prepared more perfect. The meat was sooooo tender and scrumptious. I was impressed with the home made hush puppies but they were just so-so. The Bad: I went in and just like in the movies, everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at me. I’m not sure why. So then I stood there for a minute with no welcome. Finally, the bus girl motioned for me to have a seat wherever. After I sat, I waited… And waited. 12 minutes went by before The waitress even came by. I know this because I sent a text as soon as I sat down and went back and looked. The Ugly: The waitress was one of the most grumpy ones I’ve ever come across. She bordered on the side of rude. Wouldn’t talk to me except to get my order. I’d try to be nice but she would stay quiet and walk away. Not sure what I did to upset her. Summary: I’d give this place another shot. The food is really good but the service could use an overhaul.

My wife has never eaten catfish. I’ve only eaten it fried. Hagy’s, bar none, has the best catfish, other fish, and sides that I’ve had in a long time. My wife had the catfish grilled, and I had it fried. They both were wonderful. The fried catfish, hush puppies were tasty and not at all greasy; a big basket full. Hagy’s has a long historic tradition going back to the late 1800s; sits on the bank of the Tennessee River, and is located about a five minutes drive from the Shiloh Battlefield, and not a 15 minute drive from historic Savannah, TN on the Tenn. River.

Great seafood as well as appetizers. Relaxed atmosphere and nice views along the Tennessee River. We would have never found the restaurant if we weren’t visiting friends who live locally. Glad we did

A fun stop for dinner on our Tennessee road trip. Great food and great service! It is a beautiful location right on the river. Feels like a local hangout. I would definitely recommend the catfish

Went here after visiting Shiloh battlefield. A friend from Corinth highly recommended it. It was a beautiful location and food was very good. Everything here was good. Everything was deep fried. All fried food here tasted the same. Try their tacos or green tomatoes. Good stuff!

This interesting landmark is next to the Shiloh battlefield. We went for a late lunch. My lady had the catfish fillets and I had the whole fried catfish. The lunch was good but I sure wish I had ordered the fillets. They were excellent. My whole catfish were not fully cooked and were sort of gross. I’m not one to send food back to the kitchen because I’ve had some bad experiences with retaliation from the cook. The sides were good and the service was pure Southern hospitality. Next time I’ll order the fillets.

Awesome catfish. The best around! Cole slaw is really good with a Big Mac tasting sauce on it. Great hush puppies and baked potatoes! Atmosphere is AWESOME on the river. Be prepared to wait if you go at peak times but it’s worth it.

Tucked away off Highway 22 in Shiloh, TN on the banks of the Tennessee River. Greeted right off the bat and felt like my grandmother was there to take care of us. Such a sweet Waitress. Started with a Strawberry Field Salad w Almonds, Feta Cheese and lite Seed Vinaigrette dressing. It was AMAZING. We both ordered the Catfish Filets with Baked Potato & Hush Puppies. Lite Cornmeal breaded Catfish and Perfectly made Hush Puppies. The Tartar sauce was home made and tasted wonderful and stays refrigerated until requested to be brought out. We topped it off with a Banana Pie with whipped cream and a Caramel Pie that was so rich and sweet tasting. We should have only ordered 1 dessert but wanted to try both. Total cost of meal $ 45 plus tip. Felt like it was a great value and WILL go back again. This made a great highlight to top off our motorcycle day trip!

Best catfish in the South. Taylor Grocery near Oxford, Mississippi comes in a close second but this is it!

We took a trip to Pickwick Lake, and saw(on Unilocal!,of course) that this was relatively nearby. We followed the GPS directions down The Road to Nowhere until the road suddenly opened up onto a homey-looking restaurant with an amazing river view. We had a short wait to get in, but it was worth it. To start, we had some of the best onion rings that I’ve had anywhere. The side salads all came with house made dressings-D said their blue cheese dressing was the best he’s eaten.(It sure looked chunky, anyway…) The hushpuppies were delicious, too. I had shrimp, which were disappointing, and tasted like they might have been frozen. Doug’s catfish, however, was delicious! Was it worth a drive from Memphis? Probably not, but it was worth the 30 minutes from Pickwick. If you’re in the area, check it out!

Good for catfish and that’s about it. Seems like a lot of fried goodness here, nothing really fresh and refreshing. A good cucumber salad would’ve been nice. The small biscuits and hush puppies were great! Chicken tenders were nothing spectacular. Country ham looked like it had been reused and re-served from customer to customer. The caramel pie was exactly that, tasted just like melted caramel candy bits topped with some whipped cream and nuts. After my meal, I felt diabetes and high blood pressure developing. Not a place for vegetarians either. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, the river is nearby, would’ve been more scenic if it actually sat on the rivers edge. Probably won’t return if I’m in the area, that is unless they start frying less and start using fresh!

Not a fan of catfish? Or any fried greasy unhealthy food for that matter? Then stay away. They don’t even serve salad unless you consider heavy on the mayo coleslaw a «green.» I only dined here because it was the only and closest restaurant around. But if you love fried foods, this is the place to come and get it.

If you’re looking for a swallow-your-tongue catfish dinner, then look no further than the Catfish Hotel in Shiloh. Located just north of Shiloh National Military Park the restaurant is located on the banks of the Tennessee River and affords fantastic views and a rustic, down home character. It somewhat reminds me of a Cracker Barrel without the corporate feel. I’ve eaten my weight in catfish here over the course of my time on this little blue rock and have never had a bad meal. Tonight was no different; the catfish was hot and fresh with a cornmeal batter that is to die for. Kathy had the melt-in-your-mouth baby back ribs while mom had a ribeye that was cooked to perfection. Homemade hush puppies, their own original-recipe cole slaw, a dinner salad and ice cold sweat tea rounded out the meal. As good as that was, the Pièce de résistance was the incredible, rich, mind blowing Lemon Rub Pie(otherwise known as Chess Pie), a recipe dating back to when the original owners settled this piece of ground in 1838. Great atmosphere, fantastic food and a genuinely friendly wait staff make this place one of my all time favorite restaurants.
