Kitchen and wait staff slow. Took 20 mins to get drinks. Then another 60 mins to get food. The waitress apologized and shortly after the manager came over. He did apologize while he rolled his eyes and sighed. Since I didn’t ask for him to come over, I was quite surprised by his put-off demeanor. I ordered a blackened item that was barely seasoned. My baked potato was raw and not loaded like I asked for. Someone else in our party ordered a medium well steak. It had no pink when he got it. It was extra well done. It was compared to beef jerky. It makes me sad how slow the service was. The waitress was polite but everything was slow and not cooked very well.

It’s consistent. Very rarely lets us down. We’ve had dozens of meals here.

For some reason my wife order the chicken tacos platter. It came out with ice crystals still in the rice

54th street and grill still has one of the best hot wings and gringo dip! Tonight we had both along with rattlesnake pasta! I was very pleased with the rattlesnake pasta tonight considering I haven’t ordered it in almost a year. It looked and tasted a lot better! I would love to try more things on their extensive menu but am scared after many bad experiences. I will stick with what I like and know for now. As for service… our server was very friendly and accommodating even though he messed up our order. One thing we learned about ordering food here is that you should offer appetizers first. Wait for it to come out then order your entrée. Otherwise all food will pretty much come out at the same time.

Like the food! Came at 12:30 and there were so many people waiting, they had to stand outside. HOWEVER, from the hostess stand, I count 8 open(and clean) tables and 3 that need cleaned off. What. The. Heck. ??? Don’t they understand how maddening that is? Don’t get it. Hostesses were too busy talking to care.

Great atmosphere, amazing food, and a wonderful staff! One of our go to’s for date night! The steak is truly exceptional but I’ve never had bad food here!

I was not looking forward to eating at 54th Street Grill & Bar. I was thinking it’s a chain and why bother? I ordered the pick two lunch special with a bowl of chicken tortilla soup and a loaded baked potato. Both items were really excellent. I must say I was quite surprised. The chicken tortilla soup was substantial and had lots of large pieces of chicken. It was not heavily spiced but it had a nice little kick. The baked potato was large, well cooked, and had just enough cheese, bacon, and broccoli. My father ordered a piece of salmon, asked for it medium rare, and really enjoyed his food as well. I was blown away by the quality and taste of my lunch special for $ 7.99. Surprisingly I would definitely return here. I wouldn’t even need any coaxing.

It’s a chain american style restaurant with one of the best gringo dips I have ever had. Its a good place to take the parents out for dinner or to get out if you have a little one. The food has a bit more variety than chili’s or Applebee’s but the ambience is the same. A good place to play I spy while you wait for your food.

First impression. The atmosphere was chill and comfortable like Apple Bees. The service was ok and the food was less than ok. The steak soup was terrible. It was like eating steak and vegetables in brown gravy out of a bowl. There was nothing special about the menu. The Cesar salad was dry. Stay away. One would do better at a shopping mall food court.

Average chain restaurant. Cajun burger was good, but nothing house made or special. Will do in a pinch, but not highly recommended. Service was average.

We moved nearby a couple of months ago and this has become our go-to restaurant for healthy, delicious lunches. The wait staff is friendly, service is quick and the food is freshly prepared and yummy. We don’t branch out much, but I can highly recommend the entrée salads and tortilla soup. The homemade salad dressings complement the salads perfectly; and when we order the freshly baked bread it mysteriously disappears without a trace. Yummmmm

Awesome menu — ordered the Mac Daddy & cheese and it was great. Generous portions and even the garlic bread was really good. A+ atmosphere. Service @ the bar was exceptional! I would most definitely return, given the opportunity!

For my first review, I’m happy to do an eatery I’ve been to several times in my past. 54th Street Grill & Bar is just off I-64 heading east towards Fairview Heights, and E. St. Louis. It’s located near a busy shopping complex, so this area gets plenty of business. If you’re wanting to dine casually without a wait, go during a weekday(Monday-Thursday). If you’re a crowd person and don’t mind the wait, Friday-Sunday is the best place to be. The atmosphere as soon as you step into the restaurant is very outback and nostalgic. The décor inside the place is collected memorabilia over time. Not exactly what you would find in your Grandma’s house stuffed in the back of an attic, but definitely something to strike up a conversation with. For this trip, wait time to get a seat was less than thirty seconds. I was with my girlfriend so it was just the two of us. From the time we sat down to the time our server came was minimal too. Our server was friendly and very polite. Enough about all that. Time for the FOOD. How was it? We started off with an appetizer(which if you come in between certain times, you can get it for $ 4.99!). The Gringo Dip and Chips was our choice and it was simply amazing. It’s like any other dip you could make at home, but 54th does it right. For my dish, I chose the Triple Crown Burger(I won’t tell you what’s on it… Go see it for yourself!). The burger was juicy and felt fresh off the grill. The fries were the only downside, which felt lukewarm, but they were still tasty. My girlfriend ordered a new item off the menu: Mac Daddy and Cheese. You like bacon? You like Mac and cheese? Get that dish. The noodles were warm, the bacon was crisp, and the cheese sauce was something like I never tasted before. Portion sizes were even and I didn’t feel like I was skimped. The deserts here look good(I was too stuffed to order one) and the menu overall is filled with everything from chicken to steaks. For what I payed for, I feel like the price should’ve been a little less, but not by much. I give 4 out of five stars for the factors of the fries feeling lukewarm and a little overpriced bill. If you’re looking for good grilled food and maybe have a drink or two, 54th Street Grill and Bar will fulfill your needs!

The service and food here is good and typical of another steak or sandwich chain. What makes 54th different is that they are small enough to care and consistently good unlike others where I get hit and miss service. I have eaten here several times with family and friends. Generally we get one of their tasty burgers and have never been disappointed. Be sure to come in and get a bite the next time you’re in the neighborhood.

Don’t get me wrong I love 54’s gringo dip and chips. But it always seems like when I get the carside to go the chips are stale and the bread is hard. I also got the buffalo chicken salad which was pretty tasty but like another Unilocaler explained, this place is like a crapplebees lol. On the plus side they have half priced apps after 9 o’clock and you should totally try the strawberry Long Island!

The portions here are way larger than necessary, but the food and service are great. I usually get the fried chicken salad with honey mustard dressing, but the menu offers so many different options — I should really try something else next time. The queso dip and tortilla chips are awesome too. This is a regular lunch spot for my family.

Great little spot. Large menu which can seem a little overwhelming but I ordered the lunch soup/sandwich special. Service was great — super fast, friendly and our food was yummy. No complaints here. When we are in town again, we will definitely be back.

As I have stated in previous reviews, I am NOT into chains for the most part. Unfortunately for me, my co-workers are. Every time someone is PCSing, I end up at a place like this. I will try to keep my biases to myself. First of all, they don’t take reservations… this is odd and I’m not exactly sure what their justification is. Thankfully, we all(I wanna say around 15-ish of us) got there right when they opened, so they could accommodate us. We’re obviously not allowed to drink during duty hours, so I ordered a water to drink and their shrimp platter. It took less time than I expected to get our food out to us – which was nice. They were also willing to not bread and fry my shrimp and just grill it. My shrimp skewers were decent. The cajun seasoning had a nice kick to it. I substituted my two sides(that seems a bit excessive… one side is more than enough) for their gringo dip. I had forgotten how slathered in grease their waffle fries are. I paid for that later. Overall, it wasn’t a bad meal and they offer a military discount, but would I willingly come here with my husband? No. It’s an overpriced Crapplebee’s. I’d rather find a small mom & pop restaurant or something more ethnic. But, sure, if you’re afraid to branch out — come here. It’s just more of the same.
