Paws For Excellence

Our Westie, Chester, just got back from his first grooming at Paws For Excellence. Michelle did an absolute wonderful job with him, so much in fact that we hardly miss our former groomer who recently retired. We’ll be back!

called ahead to be sure I could get my pooch in and was told as long as I was done by 530 I was fine. I arrived at at 5:02 to a locked door. Nicole unlocked the door and informed me in a gruff fashion that they stopped taking dogs at 5:00. I told her I had just spoke to her on the phone 10 minutes prior. She relented and said I could come in but at that point I was done and decided I would rather not.
Tip: Get there before 5 or get the heck out.

I have had great experiences here. The staff has always been friendly to me and my dog. It’s super clean, organized, spacious, and well stocked. My only complaint is the dryers do blow out cold air and they don’t have a «frequent bather» deal or punch card. I bring my own dryer.

The first time I visited this business we were basically ignored by the lady that works there. She constantly yelled at her own dog, which was kept in a crate in the back. (When she did let him out he peed on the floor.) Despite all this, we went back today because the dog wash we prefer was closed and my dog just enjoyed some dead rabbit. Another lady walked in with her dog at the same time. We let them greet each other as both dogs were mild mannered and well behaved, and the lady told us to stop because dogs are not supposed to greet one another or there may be fights. How ridiculous. That’s like saying kids should never say hi to each other because they might not get along. If you teach your dog to be stressed out and anti-​social whenever they meet another dog you will get a dog that is stressed out and anti-​social whenever they meet another dog. That’s pretty basic animal behavior. That is also the second time that I have become convinced that not only does this lady not know anything about dogs, she doesn’t much seem to care for them either.
If you are looking for a dog wash in the area I recommend that you head to Bowers Bath at 14 315 Southwest Pacific Highway in Tigard. The equipment is of higher quality, the prices are better, and the staff actually seem to like their clientele, human and canine.
