Stay away from this place! The bouncer is extremely unstable and injured a patron for not speaking with him! I was at the bar and saw an innocent woman roughed up because the bouncer felt slighted when she walked past him! I will never return to The Chimneysweep Lounge, as I wouldn’t feel safe. I hope the bouncer loses his job. He clearly does not realize that he was hired to stop fights, not start them!

I have never observed such unnecessary poor treatment to an individual visiting a bar as I did last night. My friend, who has a medical condition and must always have water with her, was rudely called out and mishandled by the bouncer working the door. She left to dispose of the water bottle and to bring necessary paperwork to show that she indeed needs to carry water with her. When she returned, she walked past the bouncer(who had ID’ed her the first time upon entering), assuming that they had nothing left to talk about, as she had already been ID’ed and no longer had the bottle. He then followed her into the bar, speaking loudly to her, being absolutely rude, when she raised her voice back in defense and offered him the paperwork, he then picked her up, carrying her toward the door with his arms tightly wound around her chest, dropping her on the floor by the door. Mind you, this was at approximately 8:30pm and there were only about 10 other people present in the bar; there was no need for such a scene. Mind you, I don’t use my Unilocal account to write negative reviews, but this situation was pretty horrifying; I wrote this, in hopes that management will take this review seriously. This was ABSOLUTELY unnecessary and a gross abuse of this person’s position. He didn’t even take the time to speak with my friend or myself before becoming physical with a very petite, small woman. I urge the establishment to consider removing this person from his post, he does not represent your business well(which I have visited many times before). He caused unnecessary harm.

We stopped here before dinner at a restaurant on Ventura Boulevard. Great dive bar with a local feel. The drinks were great and both the bar staff and other patrons were very friendly. This is a great place to start your night!

Great atmosphere. Nice patio. Cool, unintentional retro vibe(it’s been around since ’62!). Inexpensive drinks. Hard to find these kinds of well-kept dive bar gems any more. I’ll be back!

Best bar in the valley by far. Friendly staff, great prices, popcorn machine, pool table, and plenty of screens to watch sports. They even have a little couch area with its own TV! Full of locals, always a good time, always a gold story.

Friendly staff really… had to pay right after being served. No food served so if one gets into a car accident they don’t give a crap. The waitress very hostile and should be working at a library. Below dive bar lol I was hungry and she never said help yourself to some pop corn Who needs it… Gross

THISPLACEHASGONEWAYDOWNHILL. The Chimneysweep Lounge used to be one of our favorite bars. We like the location, fireplace, patio and ambiance. Unfortunately, they’ve made some other changes lately that we’re not too thrilled about. The old bartenders were never that friendly, but at least they recognized the regulars and knew what people ordered. The snobby hipster bartenders now seem more concerned with a quick tip than really getting to know the customers. I was recently told by one of the new bartenders that I could not run a tab. Excuse me?! I’ve been a loyal customer for many, many years. These people have their priorities all out of whack. Oh yeah … and it’s probably time for the burned-out bouncer to find a new gig also. It’s sad because this place used to be really terrific. Now it’s just another bar out in The Valley … nothing special. We probably won’t go back anytime soon. You have been warned. Cheers!

Great low key dive bar in Sherman Oaks. Walking in, you’re welcomed with a warm, cozy feeling. The crowd is usually pretty diverse and sometimes that can be a bad thing, but young, older, I felt no friction whatsoever from a wide range of people here which was amazing. Everyone I encountered was really friendly! The main room was pretty lively and loud; if you want to talk a bit easier, there’s a back room with darts, games, a pool table, and the most comfortable couches I’ve ever sat on. Seriously, it was like how I imagine hitting on a marshmallow would feel like but inside of sinking in the ground it holds you in complete comfort. What more can I say about this place? It’s a very clean dive. It’s not trying to be anything it’s not. It’s very chill, very straightforward, and worth checking out if you’re in the area and what to have a drink or two in a very non-pretentious bar. The prices I felt were a bit high here. Draft IPA $ 6.50 Other than that, I liked this place.

Love this place! It’s a hidden gem in Sherman Oaks. It’s the perfect place to start a night or end a night. It’s a big Ohio bar so during football and basketball season they’re a lot of Ohio transplants in there watching games. It has a nice little fireplace in the middle and the lighting is always dim which gives it the great vibe in my opinion. Bartenders are always friendly and seem to enjoy their jobs. They serve PBR’S in bottles which I didn’t even know they made anymore so that was a sight to see. Prices are good and there is a patio out front of you want to smoke or get some fresh air. It’s never really too crowded and has a lot of locals. I’ll be back for sure!!!

I wouldn’t come here. This bar breaks the law by serving people who are way beyond drunk which is illegal. They deserve to have their license pulled. The bouncer has major issues and was starting at this girl who was black out drunk and did absolutely nothing. Go to tavern oaks as opposed to this one.

Got a beer on tap and the second after I paid the bartender she asked if I was from somewhere that didnt tip. Fist off, I tip after I get my drink or food. Second, it was on tap and didnt even require a bottle opener. I used more effort making a bowel movement than she did pouring me one beer. beer was cold and not flat. 2 stars

The lady and I toured all of the Browns Backers bars, and this one won our hearts. If you’re not a Browns fan, you can stop reading right now, because that’s what I’m focusing this review on. Free popcorn, well-priced drinks, a dark bar with low ceilings acts as an escape act from L.A. pretentiousness. For the Browns games, a Bud Light girl gave out free swag, they put out a free Hot Dog bar and chips/salsa(you can make it your own pot luck if you want), free popcorn, a good crowd, and parking. If you’re more hungry, they’re friendly with the restaurants in the area, and the restaurants will deliver(ask the bartender for the bevy of menus to choose from). I mean, this place is great. We went several weeks ago, and I can’t wait for the schedules to clear so I can return.

Ah, the Chimneysweep. Never your intended destination, but always where you end up after drinking at more crowded spots around the corner. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Cheap drinks, popcorn, darts, pool, and a jukebox. Overhead lamps reminiscent of a Shakey’s from 1987. No wonder I always end up staying way past the«one last drink» I always intend to have here.

I absolutely love this bar!!! The beers were super cold & it is by far thee cleanest bar I have ever stepped foot in to no joke! I was amazed at how extremely clean & sterile looking everything was top to bottom & bathrooms included all the way down to the baseboards WOW!!! I’m a clean freak so I definitely noticed & appreciated that first hand, also the bartender Melissa was engaging, attentive & her smile & service was on point. Btw I am a 8 year veteran bartender myself & I recognize & appreciate outstanding service when I see it & I will be back to see Melissa bcuz she is utterly amazing in my opinion. Its refreshing to know that there are still a select few of us true talented bartenders left in this industry that live to & enjoy serving others with a genuine smile & meaning behind it. Thank u again Melissa for making my experience there enjoyable & unforgettable.

We used to come here every single Sunday for the Browns games. Received some bad customer service from the new bartender Melissa. We decided to come back after some time away and once again were treated rudely on a night they had five customers there. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

I’ll make this short. For a lil dive bar, hole in the wall. It’s great. The bouncer was really cool, had a convo with him for like 10 mins. The bartenders are cool and actually engage the customer, it’s a great place to hang with friends and just drink. I see myself coming back here.

This is a great hidden spot to hang out to play darts and good drinks. The bartender may seem off and mean, but he’s actually a very kind man. His wife(owners) is the best! She’s the sweetest and so cheerful. There’s a security guard checking id upon entrance and plenty of parking in lot. The place is clean, very dim, and cozy. Great memories.

Guys, this place swept me off my feet. Get it? I stumbled into this place for the first time and just loved it! Relaxing atmosphere with a cool little fireplace thing in the middle. Some guy was giving away free tshirts and free freshly poped popcorn for days! I like this place because it’s not super expensive like some places in LA just to play pool or darts. 25 cent dart games and 50 cents to play pool! Just great. Cool people here, mostly late twenties or older. Friendly staff and there is plenty of room here so it’s not extremely crowded. Thanks for a chill time chimney.

Dive Bar Perfection in Sherman Oaks. You can order food from any of the area food joints and eat it in the bar. Hard a** cocktails and order in food. It’s like your home away from home but with some really interesting people and conversation. It’s cozy and«randy» at the same time. No nonsense dammit.

seeing as how i like to drink in the afternoon, preferably in a dark booth, listening to songs of ages past whilst catching up with the one and only ms. kim, the chimneysweep was just right for a reprieve from the june heat wave blanketing the valley. my jameson’s and ginger ales were generous, and for some weird reason, i like it when the bartender calls me honey, even when i out age her by at minimum a decade, if not two.

Went there on Saturday and it wasn’t too busy. The bar is cozy. But the bartender(guy wearing a vest) was super rude. Also their wine was spoiled but I guess it s not a wine bar. Also keep an eye on ur tab cause that bartender overcharges and adds items to ur tab. Overall a good place on a different night

This is my kinda bar. Just sleazy enough to remind you of your dirty uncle’s basement. But minus one star for the karaōke that seems to plague this place, just like a lot of other bars in the valley. Drinks are fairly priced, pretty decent in strength, and the décor is awesome. The weekends get a little douchey with the crowd, but that has nothing to do with the service itself. I mean, Fireball on tap will do that to a bar. Overall, I like it. So does my dad when he visits. «When do you want to go to the Chimneysweep?» is pretty much the first thing I hear out of his mouth when he gets here. They take card, check your ID regularly, have unfortunate karaōke during the week, have plenty of TVs, jukebox is pretty good, and a pool table that’s always being used. Overall a pretty cool spot.

Fabulous Local Bar! We went to the Chimneysweep for their New Year’s Eve Party and had a blast! My guy friend enjoyed the many choices of draft beer… while I love my cabernet wine! Great selections and not expensive! The Holiday decorations were the best I’ve ever seen! Great vibe here! Everyone we met was really cool… and the bartenders did an amazing job(it was packed!)…and with great attitudes! They served everyone free champagne to celebrate the New Year! Plus, THE best Juke Box ever!!! Wahoo!!!

I love me a dive bar, especially one that is near work when SIG alert is almost entirely red and I decide to wait it out with a beer. I work in the Valley and live in the city and this is my preferred dive bar on the other side of the mountain. Good tunes. Quiet clientele. Everybody minds their own business and enjoys the free freshly made popcorn! Gotta love some salt with your cold hops. I’ve never been there and it’s crowded but then again I have never been there during peak hours(a rule of thumb I maintain for just about any business if at all possible.) Next time you want to take a time out and center yourself somewhere other than a yoga class and its within your reach, I suggest checking out the ‘Chimneysweep lounge’.
