I was recommended to bring my car here when my struts were about to snap off. They took my car in immediately and I had it back in two days. Very polite, honest service. They will assess your car and help you with what is urgent and what to take care of in the future instead of racking up services like the dealership. They know what they’re doing and my car is running great now. I felt really comfortable with them and would certainly use them again in the future.

If I could give them zero I would! Ok so I went there because of all these great reviews (which they probably wrote themselves) yes they were friendly while scamming me out of my money and The total for what needed to be done was only 140 so I look on the invoice and these scam artists charged me 524.90 for labor are you freaking kidding me right now! Stay away from this place their friendly while taking your money but you will regret it oh not to mention he was supposed to do a 30 minute alignment that somehow he needed 24 hours to do which still never got done! Horrible place stay away if you know what’s good for you now my car has more issues than before I came not to mention that they kept my car all day

I had gone to my dealership for a routine checkup. While I was there, they informed me that I had a coolant leak and the cost for the repair would be $ 900. I don’t know very much about cars, so I don’t know if this is anywhere near the ballpark amount, but I simply don’t have $ 900.
So, I went to Automotive M & M through a recommendation from a friend. Mike was super friendly and even agreed that $ 900 seemed pretty steep to fix a leak. When I picked it up the next day, Mike talked me through exactly what they did to my car so that I was knowledgeable about what exactly was done and what caused the coolant leak.
I appreciate that he took a few minutes to talk with me and didn’t undermine my (lack of) knowledge. And while the invoice was… steep, it certainly wasn’t $ 900. I can’t complain about that at all. Will be back for any repairs in the future!

Complete pros. They did some work on my bumper. They don’t BS. They tell you what can be done, how long it will take and give you a very reasonable price range. And they are also very convenient with your time. Good people.

My wife and I have been going to Joe for many many years. He is a professional, competent, honest, trustworthy, knowledgeable car mechanic… and a nice guy!
He will spend time explaining to you what needs to be done, and what CAN WAIT, something which is VERY important and helpful, and unheard of, especially at a car dealership.
My family and I feel extremely confident taking our cars to him, and we trust Joe that what he recommends is what he would recommend to do if it was his own family’s car that needed the same repairs.

Joe is the best! My family and I have been going to him for over 10 years. He works on all our cars and he’s the only one I’ll trust to give me the truth about what is necessary. I live in Newport Beach now and I still drive an hour just so he can look/​fix my car! I have been to multiple other mechanics closer to my house and none of them can be trusted. Joe treats us like family and is always upfront about what is urgent and what can wait to be fixed. Him and his staff are very thorough and are always conscious about any time constraints you might have. He even referred me to a body shop that did an amazing job! It’s safe to say that the hour I drive to see him is well worth it!!! If you’re looking for an honest mechanic go see him!

There is no other place I will ever go to get my cars fixed! Joe is the absolute nicest and I’ve been seeing him and his company for 5 years. They are always fair and reasonable, there is never any doubt to his professionalism and everyone that works there is so helpful!!!

These guys are AWESOME, for sure! I’m not a native Angeleno and needed a place I can trust to service my one and only vehicle. Automotive M&M has exceeded my highest expectations, EVERY TIME! I trust them with my Honda ‘over and beyond’ the dealership from where I purchased it even! Joe clearly and non condescendingly communicates to the individual (not some person, within a lot of people, looking to have their car serviced, again) with respect and understanding atop! Joe is the best of the best when it comes to a mechanic. He is helpful, truthful, gives it to you straight and tries to save you money along the way. His whole entire team is incredibly thorough and they never miss a beat.
Thanks to Leave it to Beaver, I love Lucy and the Twilight Zone, I have this vision of the 1950s (long before I was born) being a long lost era of honest people putting in good work, earning a good living, gaining positive reputations in their communities and being the «go to» people for their trade. I often felt like those types of people were a rare find in the 80s when I was growing up in Los Angeles — and even more so now. Joe is that «go to» mechanic that you would send your elderly grandmother to and know that she is in good hands and won’t get ripped off.

I have gone to Automotive M & M since they opened their doors years ago.
I will trust them and only them with my auto repairs.
I have sent friends and family as well and everyone agrees that they CARE and that are consummate pros.
Whether it’s an oil change, a smog check or a major repair they will get the job done and well.

These motherfuckers tried to rip me off $ 700 don’t go there. I was really starting to get to like these guys, they were kind and nice. They serviced my AC and a week later it was blowing hot air, So I went back and they told me that I was going to have to spend $ 700 to get my AC again. Bullshit, I went to a buddy who recharged it and there was no leaks or need to replace anything. I will never go back here and you shouldn’t waste your time or money.

Rare to find a car mechanic who is both truly honest and seriously competent. Joe Pena is the man. His new office guy Mike seems like a knowledgeable straight shooter too. M&M has kept my car in great working order for 8 years without ever overcharging or bullshitting, as far as I know. No hard-​sell here — Joe tells you what’s wrong, what’s urgent, what needs to be handled now and what can wait. I’d give him six stars if I could.
(Just read some other reviews that also say «Joe is the man.» That should be M&M’s motto.)

Took my time looking at different automotive repair shops, trying to find one that I felt I could trust. When I called M & M, Joe was so knowledgeable and straightforward, I didn’t hesitate to take my car to them. I am glad that I did!
My 2008 Smart Car had a rough idle, and rough gear changes, and the check engine light was on. I was a bit skeptical about the $ 125 charge to run the Engine codes, but they were able to quickly diagnose the problem, and fixed it the same day that I dropped it off. Joe was honest about what NEEDED to be done to the car, not just trying to swindle like other people might. When I went to pay, the brunt of the cost was for the parts, with labor being a small fraction of the bill. I was amazed!
If you are looking for someone to do an honest job, who treats your car like it’s his own, this place is it.

We found Automotive M&M from my wife doing major research online and are thrilled that we did. We trusted our former mechanic implicitly and unfortunately, they went out of business.
So, we met Joe over the phone and he was very pleasant and had an authoritative posture. It’s nice to hear someone who speaks with confidence and knows their business.
We decided to get our car worked on and I’m happy to say that we are absolutely delighted that we found Joe and Automotive M&M.
The prices were fair, the work was efficient and the time was as they told us it would be. They also pointed out a couple minor details that he suggested we consider but wasn’t pushy and trying to upsell us.

I’m going to keep this one tight ~ if you’re looking for auto repairs, you’re probably in a rush. Joe is the man. I read on Unilocal that Joe was the man and am now writing on Unilocal: Joe is the man.

Joe even took the time to research my particular year, make and model to ensure he wasn’t assuming any misinformation when planning, quoting, and then servicing my car. He knows his stuff and double checks what he doesn’t know off hand.

I have taken my car here on several occasions.
Now, let’s put it this way. My car is 11 years old. It’s in decent shape, but it’s 11 years old. Things happen to an 11 year old car.
Now, most mechanics would go for whatever option would make them the most money. Not M and M. As the owner puts it, «I’ll always tell you what I recommend based on what I would do my own vehicles.»
On several occasions, he has given me the option of the expensive route (such as buying a new lock actuator) or the more reasonable route that the trusts his mechanics to accomplish (using another method to re attach the existing lock actuator to the interior of my door)
On each occasion, I am fully apprised of my options. Everything is explained to me in a common sense, easy to understand, non condescending manner.
They are FAST. They are friendly. And they are very, very reasonably priced. I paid $ 300 for my lock to be fixed, my ignition column to be fixed, and for my headlights to be replaced (this includes removing the front bumper to get to the headlights.)
At this point, I will trust no one else with my car. These guys are amazing every time I take a car to them and I trust that not only will my car be well taken care of, I won’t be taken for a ride (pun intended) when I step into their door.
