First time eating at The Heartland Café and it was delicious!!! Good old fashioned home cooking! My wife and I each had the Heartland Farm breakfast and almost had to walk back home! 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, homemade scrapple, biscuits and gravy, and to top it off, the best homemade apple pie I’ve ever had! Highly highly highly recommended! Keep up the good work Sue!!!

My wife and I love fresh, local food. I am a foodie through and through. This place is a treat. Everything is made in house, the bread, biscuits, soups, etc. We have been for breakfast and dinner. Date night dinner with drinks(non-alcoholic), two entrees(including Italian wedding soup), and dessert was $ 30!!! Breakfast for 4 with our two kids was $ 25!!! The service is out of this world good, two times in and the wait staff already knows us by name. The details are what take a restaurant from good to great and they have it all perfect. Now for the food! They are using fresh, local ingredients and it shines through. In terms of genre think of the best down home food your grandma used to make and then add a gourmet/foodie flare. For dinner we had Swiss chicken with fresh steamed vegetables, and stuffed pizza with Parmesan breadsticks and homemade cheese sauce. Both phenomenal in its own right. For breakfast we had an egg white omelette with ham, cheddar and onions, biscuits and gravy with a side of gourmet scrapple, and some lovely little kids meals. You can tell everything is cooked to order. I truly can’t come up with a negative thing to say. We have driven by this place 100 times and are kicking ourselves for not trying it sooner. We will be back! Great date night location. Very accommodating for children for morning breakfast too(waiter came by the table when our son was crying and did the snake trick with the wrapper from a straw, he loved it). Again the details!

Had a great Sunday lunch here with my husband. The restaurant opened in May and is a home from the early 1900s. The flooring and word work are stunning. We arrived an hour before closing(2p.m.) and were nearly the only diners, which was fine by us! Our server was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. We decided to split the grilled chicken melt(with bacon and avocado) and the rubbed pork tenderloin sandwich with a great slaw. Both were delicious, but the pork tenderloin was phenomenal(tender and so flavorful). Our server told us that next time we have to try the broken yolk sandwich – she said we’d never try anything else once we had it. I really wanted to try something from the bakery menu, but alas, I was too full. All said and done, we left for just over $ 20(including tip). We will be back soon to try the Friday and Saturday dinner specials!

100-year old house with wonderfully creaky floors and heart-shaped holders for lacy curtains. Your quintessential country café with feel-good home-made fare where bacon, butter and dough predominate. Yes, all of the above! But what is this? Six salad options which two featuring avocado? A veggie burger? This just might be the best combination in the world. Found Heartland Café on a bike right through the farmlands north of Carmel. Thought we would grab a quick drink, but stayed for lunch. And no, not the healthy options, but the challah cinnamon French Toast topped with whipped caramel butter and pecans(what? just carbs needed to complete the ride, right?) and broken yolk sandwich with ham. Fruit salad of the best kind — whatever is in season, which today in Indiana is melon, blueberry, blackberry and peaches. Portions large enough to share. Note to self — take this route for the bike ride next time and bring a backpack for leftovers…

Such warm hospitality, and good food. The restaurant is in an old house, and the cooking tastes like homemade. Had a nice grilled chicken salad for a light dinner, then topped it off with an incredible blackberry cobbler that was to die for! Service was exceptional from start to finish. It made for a relaxing meal!

Had an excellent lunch — plenty big grilled chicken salad with lots of good fixins’. Will definitely go back.
