Just stopped by small town place. Atmosphere was quiet. service to me was fairly prompt. Unfortunatly. Not prepared meant order was wrong when it came out. Waitress was friendly. But food seemed to be lacking attention and flavor. Had chili and hotbeff sandwich. The chili seemed to be extremely sweet. The beef meat was ok but cold.

Being a Chef and owning my own restaurant, it is hard for me not to be critical on EVERYTHING when I go out to eat with the family. I have high expectations from staff, atmosphere, and especially the food… That being said, the little train depot eatery was cluttered with wall décor… actually had some very interesting items on display, various antiques, and some celebrity photos. The waitress arrives at our table with nothing in hand to write down our order, I ordered the half hot beef sandwich but requested frech fries covered in gravy in place of the mashed potatoes(My Mother and I share that in common) so needless to say I was completely let down when I was served mashed and no fries. To start the meal I ordered and cup of chili. I ate 2 bites and found it to be to sweet for my taste and chose not to finish the cup. The was my second visit to this establishment, but not my favorite. My parents brought us here once earlier in spring, we sat on the lower court area. I had a pattymelt that day. It was a burger nothing negative to say about it. The staff are very friendly and if the family invites me out to eat with them, I would come here again.

Horrible service and food. I haven’t tried the place in well over a year myself as the last time I did I got Bill’s Big Boy Burger thinking it couldn’t be all bad like other food I had tried there off and on over the years. I was very wrong, it was dark gray throughout and inedible. After several years of giving them another and another chance and being disappointed in the complete lack of service and food quality I will never return and will discourage all from dining there. Just awful.

Still a solid local joint. Great pie, mashers and hot roast beef. Nice service as well!

I hit up the Depot Deli for breakfast before shooting a wedding in Shenandoah. If you’re looking for a cheap no-fuss breakfast in a cool spot with history, give Depot Deli a try. I ordered an omelette with toast($ 3.25) and coffee($ 1). I requested an egg white omelette, and though my server was hesitant at first, she said«They [the cooks] don’t normally like to do this, but I’ll see what I can do.» My request was granted, and I was served up one yummy egg white omelette with cheddar cheese. She kept the coffee coming, too. The one big distraction was the family of one of the employees. They were at a table in the main dining area, loud in their play and chat(albeit having a good time). Other than the noise, the idea of this place is great. The layout is unique, open in some parts yet tucked away in others, and the overall vibe is cool. There isn’t a shortage of memorabilia to admire, and I dug the wood booths. This is definitely a fun place to go with friends, and I can tell many who visit are regulars. You can’t beat the prices, and my server was incredibly attentive. I’d stop again if in the area.

A serious lack of attention from the owner has taken this once fine establishment down to 2 stars. The Depot has survived fires, rained out Everly Brothers shows that must have cost a young fortune and yet persevered. Does anybody care about this institution of Shenandoah anymore? Apparently the answer is no. If revenue falls below acceptable levels let’s just raise prices, fixing problems would be too much like work.

Atmosphere is interesting with antique pics but also has antique dust and dirt to go with it. Food is ok, typical for bar and grill.
