My Maytag refrigerator — just out of the 1 year warranty period — stopped working. Had Kevin from Ted’s Appliance come out for an estimate. He spent less than 15 mins. and charged me over $ 100 just to tell me the compressor needed replacing and it would cost too much to fix. He also said ‘don’t bother calling Maytag’ because they wouldn’t honor the warranty.
A few days later, after I contacted Maytag, I was told they would honor the warranty and do the repairs for free. Maytag even called Ted’s Appliance and set up the appt. even suggesting I could be reimbursed for the estimate.
The next day, a snotty woman from Ted’s called me and said ‘they only do warranty repairs on appliances they have sold’. Why did they have someone out to my home to give me an estimate in the first place? Why did they set up the second appt. Why do they even advertise that they do Maytag repairs? Maytag even called Ted’s back to question them about this issue and were basically told they didn’t want to do the work!
Fortunately, Maytag set me up with great place out of Milford, CT Tri-​City Appliance. They even came out on the weekend. My refrigerator is up and running and it didn’t cost me another dime.
I’m out the original $ 100+ to Ted’s Appliance but have learned my lesson. I don’t know how this place stays in business.

In short, fridge stopped working-​went in there for a new purchase. Ted the owner mentioned that it is common for a small part to fail and recommended he look at it. I was convinced it was a bigger issue but took him up on it. He was 100% right. So, $ 175 later my fridge never worked better. He easily could have sold me a $ 2000 fridge and I would have been happy. They gained a customer for life. Since then, they fixed dryer and washing machine. On time, friendly and reasonably priced. Best service in the area. People like this just do not exist anymore.
Thanks for not robbing a guy in desperation who self-​diagnosed his broken appliance. Well done and please support these local guys!

I think that this is the best experience I have ever had with a repair company. Kevin, who came to fix my oven, was very helpful and knowledgeable. The part had to be ordered, but it came in fast and he came right over to install it. He didn’t just put the part in and leave, he made sure that everything was working correctly. I would recommend Ted’s to anyone that is looking for a friendly and helpful company. I would use them again. Even the people on the phone that set up the appointments were very friendly. I can’t say enough good things about this company.

Super nice, helpful and knowledgeable. I had trouble finding a part, but one call and they had it in stock and some helpful advice. Would recommend and go back to them in a second.
