This was my first time to purchase a pie from this store and so I have to give them some leeway. It is not apple season and so its not reasonable to expect fantastic apple pie from a farm baker at this time. But, as you can guess, I was not elated with the pie I bought here. The filling was ‘good’ but it didn’t taste much different from a mass-produced pie. The crust was soggy. I think this was due to the weather — it was very humid and this shop is not air conditioned.(Still, you expect folks who sell pies to know how to store them.) I’m thinking this pie was either made last season and frozen or(more likely) made recently from preserved apples. But overall it did not excite me. I will go back in the fall when there are fresh apples and see if anything changes. For the record, I paid $ 14 which is in line with the prices I pay at many farms for pies. My daughter and I have decided to do a «pie tour» to find the best pie in the area … suggestions are welcome.

Wow is all I have to say!!! Bought 5 pies on Tuesday to share with my staff before Thanksgiving and they were delicious!!! To my surprise they were even open on Thanksgiving day for their customers. Will be back again and again… Thanks Oronoque for keeping the tradition of making the best pies…

I cannot believe no one has written a review. These guys used to be in the Oronogue section of Stratford, CT but the original bakery burned down maybe 20 plus years ago and then after a hiatus they opened again in Shelton. Once you eat an original Oronoque pie you will be spoiled for any other pie. I love the apple, apple crumb, cherry, cherry crumb, and when it is available the strawberry rhubarb. Did I mention blueberry crumb? They used to make an prune apricot that was unbelievable but no more. This site is considerably smaller than the original but the quality is the same. No artificial ingredients here. During the fall they usually have cider doughnuts available. And during the holidays, good luck getting inside. I can only figure that the regulars want this place kept a secret and that is why no one has written anything.
