Steven, my partner was here at Grove Street several years ago by himself. He said he felt the beer was just so so but since I was down in the Olympia area and by myself I decided to get a new brewery(at least to me) out of the way. I reached the same consensus with him on the beer. Just so so. I ordered a Vanilla Porter which was just fair and not terribly memorable. I’m not sure how recent this may be but there are signs up that now indicate that they only accept cash now. They do have an ATM though if you don’t come in prepared.

Everything was bland and flavorless… wait the can Coke was good and the croutons off the salad weren’t bad. They mysteriously tasted just like Marie Callander croutons from Costco. Could save a lot of money by shopping at Costco and buying them in bulk. I tried the Winter Lager. All I can say is it tasted like flat watered down beer. There are way too many microbrew pubs around to ever grace this place again.

The pizza is hands down the best. The beer is just as good as the pizza, if not better. Service is great.

First timers here — The beer selection was great with half being brewed in-house. Staff are very friendly and its a family run business. We ordered a pizza, and it was the square type — just a little too much cheese for me. Small town brewery and we will be back.

Pizza is delicious, beer is superb, and the service was excellent. Was the servers first night on the job and she deserved every dollar we tipped.

I liked it until it can’t time to pay and it was a flashback to a time where they don’t take credit cards.

Only a 3 star because we didn’t get eat there the cook doesn’t come till later. But we did get their own brewed adult beverages and I’m not a beer fan and I enjoyed them. Pretty cozy place, interesting things to look at. Definitely something different. We will be back. I wish they had t shirts!

Hurray! One of our favorite places to stop when we come to our cabin on Spencer Lake in Shelton. This is a family owned brewery whose daughter has taken over as head brewer. It is great to see some of the favorites appearing back on the brew list. Their beers truly meet the micro-brew standard. Great flavor with something for every beer lovers taste. Food is fantastic, especially their pizza! Come out and support this great brewery in Shelton, you won’t be sorry you did.

The homemade pizza was fantastic, their own beers were very good(IPA, Siason, and Kolsch). The jalapeño dip appetizer was tasty, but the bread served with it was pretty plain. «crisps» served with the sandwiches were veggie sticks from a bag, not so good. warning: Currently they only accept cash! The service was excellent, but the place was basically empty at 6pm on a Tuesday. like pizza and beer and have cash? this is good choice.

I’ll give Grove Street Brewhouse an A for effort. I’m not really sure how it compares to other places in Shelton, but I’m not sure if I’ll go again. One of the biggest disappointments is that nothing on the menu really caught my eye. A lot of times there are several things on a menu that have me debating what to get, but nothing on this menu really made me want to order it. I ended up getting the pulled pork, which was just okay. It was served on a hot dog bun rather than a standard round bun, which I found strange. The inside of the bun was very soggy so I ended up eating the sandwich with my fork for the most part. I was also disappointed that the coleslaw on the sandwich was undressed. However, the pasta salad that was served with my sandwich was awesome. It was dressed with pesto, and had lots of(kalamata?) olives, cheese, and tomatoes. My husband, who is quite the beer snob, ordered their beer sampler with his dinner. They were out of their hefeweizen, which was disappointing. He thought that many of the beers were pretty one dimensional, but commended the ol’pinchfister and the ryerish red. The service was top notch and the employees were super friendly. Maybe we’ll go back to try the hefeweizen when they have it, but the food was a little disappointing for me.
