Belle Crest House

My wife & I stayed here in years past. Not the cleanest place but we made the best of it. I always thought this place had potential if infused with a good amount of cash. The last time we were there my wife’s bag was stolen from our room. To add insult to injury the host accused us of trying to pull off some kind of scam. In the end, the bag mysteriously appeared a few weeks later at a local coffee shop. We were glad to get the bag back & leave this place for good. We now stay at a local B&B that is well kept and spotless.

We had a great experience and felt as if Yvonne and Herb provided a wonderful environment in which to stay. The air conditioning in the rooms worked great and each room is very spacious and with its own bathroom. They provided a top-​notch breakfast and were very nice to talk to. The belle crest is located close to the ferry. Would highly recommend!

I do hate to write a bad review of this place considering the owner was nice, but I will never go back to this place again. It was the only place left open on Shelter Island last minute, and it cost 140 dollars for the night which was a major rip off. I have stayed at a nice Hyatt for less than that. When you walk in it is ok looking, and smells fine, but when I went into the room, there were hairs on the bed. That is not ok with me.ever.I am not very high maintenance, but I do expect a simple thing like washed sheets! I slept fully covered and with my hoodie on because I was afraid of getting lice. The bathroom was shared, and even though I asked him about this beforehand, he said the bathroom is next door to us, but we are the only room using it. Not true. Some disgusting man would sneak into it as well. Found a ton of hair in the shower. Asked them to clean it and he did, but still, gross. Toilet was not cleaned well, bathroom smelled weird, I refused to take a shower or even use their towels, i just grabbed tons of toilet paper. The breakfast experience was ok, my husband said it was fine, but I was too grossed out to eat anything by then. And it was strange, the owner (wife of the couple), was asking for the money up front. Very strange. I didn’t like it, and I am not fussy, so stay at your own risk, you have been warned!

Charming Bed and Breakfast with great service! Will definitely be visiting again.
