Always take out. We never eat inside, can’t stand the smoke from the bar. We do like their cheeseburgers and get them to go quit often. Shame they’ve gone up in price.

Disgusting, even for a Tumbleweed! Dirty, poor service, bad food, even for a Tumbleweed. Bar allows smoking, taints the whole restaurant. I cannot think of anything redeeming about my experiences here. Yes, I’ve gone more than once over the years thinking management may have changed etc. Not good, ever!

As always… My fellow Unilocalers have had the same result as me… This place is dead… It’s 1:30 on a stormy/cloudy Thursday afternoon… We sat at the bar and ordered a bud light draft… Which was pretty good and the only reason I’m giving two stars… As most local Unilocalers know I love a well done… But not burnt steak… This thing tastes like charcoal… Took one bite and pushed it away… The corn on the cob(which is normally awesome at tw) was mushy from being way over cooked… My buddy’s food was good but I won’t be coming back unless it’s on a liquid diet.

Go for Tex, more than Mex. My husband liked his pork chop, roasted corn and sweet potato a lot! I was disappointed in pre-fab salsas(loaded with sugar & preservatives), «queso» that looks like Cheese Whiz and quality of chimichanga. Initially I ordered their«famous» white chicken avocado Chilli which was to be assembled table side over avocado and pico de gallo. However, the waitress returned quickly and said they were out and she thought the truck had already come. I said«oh, then it comes pre-fab?» To which she replied, «no, it just doesn’t take her long to fix it. I’ll bring you some if the truck comes». That’s pre-fab. Place was clean. Manager nice. Shelbyville allows smoking with non, so bar is smoking. Waitress was outstanding. Prefer freshly hand cut salsa and fresh baked chips, so will opt for one of the many local Mexican establishments in future. Again, my husband thought the American fair was excellent.

I visited Tumbleweed with my father after shopping for groceries at Walmart. I ordered a 6 oz. sirloin with fries but the steak was so thick a saw couldn’t cut through it! Because of this, I got a new, delicious, cuttable steak. As far as service goes, it seemed to be pretty fast for what we ordered. Our waitress was very sweet and kind, too. Food — 2 stars Service — 5 stars Average — 3.5 stars

Boy I wish I had read the reviews before I went here. I can’t believe this place stays in business, I can’t believe it’s a chain. The food flat out sucks. I don’t think they actually cook anything on site I think all they are doing is reheating. I am always amazed when I walk into a restaurant and people are smoking. I should have turned around and left right then. The manager asked if we wanted smoking or non. I said non. He took us to a booth next to a glass partition that divided the bar area. I pointed to the bar and asked is that the smoking area? When he said it was I pointed to a booth as far away from it as possible and asked to be seated there. He obliged. It didn’t matter. They presented us with chips and a choice of hot or mild salsa. I asked for the hot. Remember that crappy old El Paso salsa that used to be the only kind available? That’s what this tasted like. I ordered the brisket tacos. The meat wasn’t terrible but they put the same awful salsa on it then topped it all with a mound of lumpy greasy onion straws. If you threw a handful of french’s fried onions into a pot of simmering oil, let it steep for ten minutes and then pulled it out and tossed them directly on the taco, that would approximate this. Don’t bother to drain them. That would rob the taco of its greasy goodness. The gf got a grilled chicken salad. It had three slices of avocado next to a pre portioned chicken breast complete with grill marks on top of bagged iceberg mix. I’m starting to see why people fawn over chipotle. Places like this set the bar so low that when a restaurant actually cuts up a head of lettuce everyone is amazed. They must have great margaritas because you need to be drunk to like this food. At least we didn’t end up in the hospital so they have that going for them.

Stay away trust me they suck. They have the worse service ever and their food sucks. It took them an hour to seat us. They were rude they messed up our order.

Pretty much nearly the worst food I’ve ever paid for. I ordered the twice grilled steak burrito. It was filled mostly with extremely salty over cooked rice and topped with a sauce which could only be described as rancid. It was served on top of onion straws, which were limp and extremely greasy. The side dishes were rice and beans. The only flavor they had was salt, lots and lots and lots of salt. The waitress was very nice tho and kept my tea full, which was the only good thing. The restaurant was dark, dank and filthy and smelled slightly of mildew.

The food is always delicious, especially the baby back ribs! Service is courteous and friendly. The restaurant is kept clean. I like it.

Often, we can think that a restaurant that has multiple locations(Tumbleweed has a few dozen, throughout Kentucky and IN&OH) may not be as good because the food may be «mass produced.» That was NOT the experience we had at Tumbleweed. As an example, if you like guacamole, you can have them make it right by your table. You can tell the person making it which ingredients to include(or not) and it will be made fresh to order. Just awesome. The best we have had since being at the Riverwalk in San Antonio(you know what I’m talking about if you’ve ever been there). That’s just some of the food. Tumbleweed specializes in cooking over mesquite wood, adding a nice«smoky» flavor to beef in various entrees, as well as chicken, fish, and steak. Margaritas are great(not mass-produced either). You can actually tell there’s tequila in there, unlike most of the chain restaurants. We tried margs on the rocks and frozen ones(my wife always gets those fruity drinks) :) The frozen ones were good, and I’m sure all other drinks are equally good. All in all, this restaurant was a great find. I’m so glad there’s one nearby. I wish they could build more!

Not impressed… my burrito was bland and i think the sauce on top was just ketchup. My friend’s steak was over cooked. Service was also pretty slow for the few customers they had. I will not return.
