Americas Best Value Inn

This property was a huge disappointment. We arrived late, just needed a quick sleep, and had a coupon for it. The front desk personnel were very polite and respectful, and we were encouraged by their excellent treatment. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. The bathroom floor was sticky; our shoes made shlurp sounds as we moved about on it, and the soles transferred black patterns onto the floor tile. The walls were greasy and filthy throughout the bathroom and the room. The toilet moved when sat upon, and the hairdryer didn’t work. The only «blanket» on the bed (February) was the dirty spread, which had several little holes in it, and when we asked for a real blanket, we were told that they have only two in the motel, and that they had already been given out to other guests. The advertised pool was «closed for renovations,» but it appeared that it’s been put out of use permanently, as its door and windows had cardboard stuffed behind them so that the pool area couldn’t be seen. Room numbers which had fallen off were crudely reproduced on the walls next to the doors with marker pen. There were several stains on our pillow cases, and a long hair on one of them, probably indicating reuse. The bed sheets were rumpled and the mattress cover underneath was lumpy. The «security» doors were open and ajar all night, apparently broken. We’ve never done this before, but we skipped breakfast, which did not even offer oatmeal or a waffle maker. This run-​down, dirty place is due for demolition! The one star we give it is for the reception staff.
