Simple and plain surroundings belie the fantastic Barbeque here. Prices and portions are inversely proportional, that is, low prices but big portions. Three varieties of sauce assure all tastes will be satisfied. Bob Garner loved it. What more can I say?

Some of the most authentic tasting barbecue I’ve found in this area, and I am a real barbecue snob, so impressing me isn’t easy. Try the ribs.

I visited the Flying Pig with the most pickiest of BBQ eaters, my husband. I say picky because no matter what BBQ place we go to, he always compares it to his favorite BBQ joint and if you don’t have vinegar based sauce, it’s just not worth it. So, I was surprised when he was impressed with this little hole in the wall joint! We both ordered the BBQ plates(me the small, him the large). There were three types of sauces, my favorite being the sweet, his being the sour. They had good onion rings and the hush puppies were awesome! Not sure about the review below about the red coleslaw. Our server gave us the option between the normal white and the red, so we tried the red. I thought it was pretty good and I’m on that into strong vinegar tastes. They had a strawberry pound cake for dessert which was awesome. This was a great place to stop on our travels and will remember for whenever we are back!

Sorry guys, but I just can’t see three stars. Son and I came for lunch and it was, at best, OK. We liked that you had beef brisket, unusual for the Carolinas that generally only have pork. Beef was super tender and had nice smoke and char. Pork BBQ was smoked but terribly dry without much flavor. So that brought on the sauces, tauted by the previous rater. Sure, hot, sour, sweet, but all of them were over the top sweet. Neither of us cared for any of the sauces, so what sauce could have saved the dry pork was not to our liking. Hush puppies were perfect, mild flavored and not over fried. Fries were average, nothing special, but at least not greasy. Slaw was highly unusual. It was red sauce, with vinegar. It helped to eat the pork, but was not particularly traditional or to our liking. Have been in the Carolinas for over 20 years and have not experienced their particular version of slaw. Guess I have been too sheltered. Service was just fine, tea was plentiful and refilled frequently. Menu is pretty simple and straight forward: Beef, pork and chicken BBQ, ribs, wings, burgers and hot dogs, grilled cheese and sides. Might give it another try to check out the ribs. Next visit will solidify the two-stars or raise it to three.

Barbecue has a good smoke flavor to it. Served with three sauces: hot, sour. Sweet. I like the hot and sweet mixed. Hamburgers are run of the mill and hot dogs are pretty good. Hush puppies had a good flavor but were a little doughie for my tastes
