Holiday Inn Express Shelby @ Hwy 74

Walked in got a room went to theroom flipped over the pillows to find bed bugs, i walked back out and handed the guy the pillow, check your room before you stay

First, we stay in Hilton properties almost exclusively. This was the nicest Hampton Inn we have ever stayed in. New, modern and clean.

We stayed here while traveling for a wedding. We stayed one night and were satisfied. The rooms were clean, but the door/​walls are super thin. We heard almost everything happening in the hallway throughout the night/​early morning. The room itself (a king room) was set up so oddly, but it worked for just the two of us.
Austen (sp?) at the front desk was fantastic! He answered all our questions promptly and confidently. The check in process was easy. The breakfast was a standard hotel breakfast offering pastries, pancakes, cereals, yogurts, omelettes, bagels and coffee. I had a muffin and coffee– perfectly delicious for what it was.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling the area. It is next to the mall, a movie theater and food options!

Head and shoulders above most of the HI express locations. Plenty of staff on hand, clean, roomy, inviting lobby, spacious breakfast room, well designed rooms at affordable prices. I am a Platinum level rewards member and know many of these properties well. This is in my top three!

This HIE was almost on par with what we have come to expect. Nice, clean, quiet, comfortable. I wish they had real «suites.» They have larger rooms, which they call suites, but it is not a true suite with separate rooms. Also, the pullout couch is quite uncomfortable for even a young person. The ice machine on the 2^nd floor wasn’t working, so we had to go downstairs to the far end to get ice. Not real convenient. But, we like this chain and the price was good.

Hotel was clean and rooms were large. Bathroom could have been a little cleaner but as a whole, was a nice hotel for a short overnight stay if you are in Shelby for an event.

Very nice hotel. For a Holiday Inn Express, it was less expensive than what we thought. The people spoke english too! We were given warm Otis Spunkinmeyer (sp?) cookies in the afternoon which was nice. The room was very spacious and clean. The towels were fluffy and thick, not like typical thin cheap hotel towels. Everything was clean in the room, no sign of mold or mildew anywhere.
We had a first floor room adn we saw that a girl’s soccer team was staying there that night as well. We thought we were going to hear a lot of talking, but even though they stayed in rooms by us, we heard nothing. The rooms were very sound-​proof.
Very nice breakfast. Hot sausage, omlets, toast, cinnamon rolls, 4 kinds of cereal, yogurt, juices, etc. Very clean eating area and plenty of room.
Overall, I’d definitely stay there again!
