My dad took a large group of us to the Scandinavian fish boil hosted at Cherry Pointe farm. It was a good thing that we had reservations because this was a sold out event on a Wednesday night. It was fun watching the fish boil cook on the fire pit outside then 1 guy threw a bucket of kerosene to boil the oil off of the fish. Herb butter was dotted on the fish, whole potato and whole sweet onion. Everything was cooked to perfection with secret spices. A big slab of cherry pie with ice cream rounded out the excellent meal. After dinner a stroll through the lavender and herb garden was the perfect end to the evening. This was a wonderful group activity because we were able to spread out in the picnic tables below the trees.

We stopped at Cherry Point Farm Market on our way back from visiting the Sable Points Lighthouse. A beautiful market offering a little bit of everything. Yet I was disappointed. The strudel filling had too much corn starch that affected the cherry flavor. Rude staff, my daughter and I were looking at the baked goods and two employees cut right between us discussing whether their hair was tied back appropriately, and the older woman behind the counter was just plain crabby and seemed annoyed by our questions.

I stumbled across this place by accident, and now I think it will be a regular stop on our annual trip to Ludington! Combination fresh produce stand, bakery(of cherry wonderfulness), gift shop, unique jellies, dried lavender, lavender honey, and lavender labyrinth… I know, right? The moment you step out of the car, you might think you’ve stepped into heaven. The labyrinth center has various herb gardens labeled, such as medicinal, Biblical, healing, etc. I had an antsy kid with me, so I was cut short in my exploration… lesson learned… buy a treat first to keep her occupied while I explore ;)

Cool place. Fresh fruits and the Labyrinth and Lavender filed were neat. My only problem was I found Cherries around the corner for a lot cheaper a pint, but hey I suppose you have to pay somehow for moving all those rocks around

This is a great market, hidden a bit off the shores of Lake Michigan, but well worth the drive to visit. Great pies, great bread, great preserves. If you get a chance, go to their fish boil. It is a great way to spend a lazy evening, not too far from the dunes.

Cherry Point has been a part of our family for at least as long as it has been around. We use to go every summer and stock up on strudel and eat ourselves sick at the Lake. Some of the improvements are the café, huge herb and lavender garden. What is great is that after more than 10 years the strudel and customer service is still excellent. Whats is awesome now is that the strudel is ONLINE and is shipped during cherry season! :) Don’t miss out on Cherry Point if your in the area.

This was the highlight of our time in Michigan. They have the most beautiful orchards that line the west shore of Lake Michigan. Known for their berries, fruits, vegetables and herbs, this place is certainly one of a kind. We bought fresh cherry pies that were absolutely wonderful and walked in their lavender labyrinth, which was fragrant and delightful. I also stocked up on lavender essential oils and sampled their lavender jelly, which tastes very good on english muffins. The service was prompt and very friendly. I would highly recommend making a pit stop here if you ever find yourself on the west shore of Lake Michigan.
