Lanna Thai has been a mixed bag for me. It came highly recommended by friends but for the most part I wasn’t blown away. The prices are affordable, and you get large portions. I appreciate that they line each container with foil to prevent the containers from flaking. They always provide a box if we have multiple bags to pick up, which is nice. Unfortunately their food is very hit and miss for me. I’ve tried a number of different dishes and there are only a few that I would order again: namely the pad thai, Sriracha noodles, and fried rice dishes. But others(including, unfortunately, the red curry, green curry and Lanna Noodles) tasted very, very strongly of lemongrass and something else I can’t quite place, which made them taste unappealing. I normally eat my takeout as lunch leftovers the next day, but in all these cases I ended up tossing them out since the strange flavor only got stronger the next day. Their pad thai is good, though, and the heat level is usually consistent. Their spring rolls are good, very large/long, and you get 3 in a single order! I feel like Lanna Thai is the place I’ll go to if I’m in the area and only have a hankering for some affordable pad thai and spring rolls, but I don’t know that I’ll venture out from that staple again.

We were in tonight to celebrate my birthday. First time to Lanna Thai and it was by far the best food and best service I have ever received at a restaurant in my life. The food and hospitality deserves a 10 star rating. I will highly suggest and encourage anybody and everybody to go here and try it out. You will not be disappointed. I can honestly say my new favorite restaurant.

We first tried this place about 6 weeks ago, and have been back twice. I’ve tried the Tom Yum soup, spring rolls, Pad Pak and Pad Thai. Everything was delicious and tasted freshly prepared(vs. something that’s been simmering on the stove all afternoon.) What I really appreciate is that they get the spice level right – this has been a sore spot for me at other Thai restaurants. Under the glass tops on the tables, you can read stories and reviews written to the owner on napkins. This adds a fun, unique note to the kitchy Asian décor. I would give this place 5 stars, but the Pad Thai had a disproportionate amount of noodles. It was tasty and a very generous portion, but it could have used more chicken. The service is good and the price is right. I will definitely go back.

Ordered Pad Thai chicken and it was 98% noodles, barely any chicken or flavor. The spring rolls were okay.

Lanna prepares some of the consistently best Thai food around! The take out is the same high quality as dining in. Her curry dishes and Drunken Noodle are my usual favorites, but she’s just made a vegan stir fry for me that might be even better! Her devotion to customer satisfaction is second to none, you should definitely give this place a shot.

Just an update: after my last experience, Lanna was kind enough to come by my home, bring me the part of my previous order that had not been included, and even a few extras. She apologized for the service, and I have to say that her attention to customer satisfaction(and the spring rolls!) have changed my opinion on this restaurant. The owner went above and beyond to ensure happiness and it is definitely appreciated, noticed, and I am willing to try this establishment again.

Pulled in here on a whim — WOW! Their food is some of the best Thai, I’ve had; and I eat a lot of Thai. The Tom Yum, best ever! The Tom Kai(coconut soup), delicious! Husband had the Lana Fried Rice, perfect spices, I think I would get that next time. I had the Pinky Fried Rice, also delicious! I had it medium and it was the perfect spiciness. I will be back — probably sooner than later. The restaurant is tucked back in S.E. Corner of the strip mall. Excellent, excellent Thai!!! *we ate lunch, prices are reasonable.

They have their own different flavor to classics you see at Thai restaurants. To be brutally honest, I’ve never seen so many regular customers and such great service. You can tell by the interaction by the lady who runs it(Lanna?) and her regulars. She had his dish prepared before he walked in the restaurant. She and her associates are really friendly and the dishes were really nice. My dad and I ordered 2 curry puffs which are like samosa pastries(filled with ground chicken, potatoes, and onions). Those were tasty. We got the typical Thai soup, except this one is reminiscent of a chicken noodle which was ok. My dad ordered a medium chicken Panang curry and I ordered a medium chicken Massaman curry. The Massaman was really good but really spicy for me. I don’t like carrots on a curry but they didn’t affect the taste. Definitely recommend to people in the area who want quality Thai food served with a smile!

I was very, very disappointed with the service I received when I took a guest with me to show off Shelby Township’s best Thai restaurant. Caucasian waitresses ignored us throughout the meal, I couldn’t get their attention and was finally tired and got my own silverware and napkins from another table, was irritated with how they served our Tom Yum soup which she served on the go at the edge of our table, and the food tasted as if the spices were just thrown in and not cooked well. The only saving grace of our whole experience was that a woman(who seemed Thai and maybe the owner) asked if we’d like to have some ice cream on the house which allowed me to leave there with a little bit of peace.

Great Thai restaurant in the local area. I had the vegetable Thai rice and got it at a medium spice level, I shared with my friend who got the pad Thai at a medium+. Both were very delicious. The fried rice seemed a bit more spicey than the pad Thai. Great flavored, great service. The owner gave out free ice cream before we left and was very nice to all of us, calling us by our names for the special personal touch. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Great home cooked Thai Food! I visited for the first time by using a Groupon and I have been back here to get more Thai Food! The servings are pretty big and the food is as authentic as it can get. The owner is very friendly and took good care of us. Fried Ice cream was just a little on the greasy side :)

Plenty of places in the area make Thai, but for me you have places that just make it and it tastes just like 5 ingredients thrown together. Others places its much more then that, the food has a nice groove you can taste. The Thai-crack zone. I find Lani sometimes can hit close to the zone. I’ve had some really good dishes, I just couldn’t get enough of and then others it’s was just decent. In the area it’s above most and for area towards top end. The inside is nice and has changed over the years. I also think owners changed 4 years ago. Before I remember the inside was like someone’s living room, with a huge TV, but now the places is pretty cool, has very Thai feel with the wood décor. Also from what I remember the food is way better now.

Such a neat little hole in the wall place. I’m a big fan of thai food and I loved it here. I got the pineapple pad thai which was good, but I was expecting more a sweet pineapple kick that I didn’t get :(I also ordered the Sriracha Noodles which weren’t as hot as I thought they would be. Everything still tasted SO good, I’ll be back!

Love coming here with my coworkers! Dine in to get the full experience. The staff is so nice and fast so you won’t be late back to work if you’re on your break like I usually am. You can never go wrong with their pad thai, it’s my go to meal.

I had tried this place many years ago and wasn’t impressed. Not sure if they switched owners at some point, or if I just hit them on a bad day, but this year I’ve made a few stops here at lunchtime, since it’s near my work. I’m glad I gave them another shot, because now the food is always top notch. Spice is good, but not overly heavy handed(medium is enough to leave some heat on your tongue, but not so hot that you can’t eat it). Food is flavorful and those spring rolls! They’re fantastic. I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve tried in the last 6 months…

Lanna Thai is my favorite thai food restaurant. The service is always so nice and so pleasant. They even bow gracefully, not on the floor or anything mind you, when accepting your payment. I love Massaman, but they also have my favorite Pad Thai with beef. Everything is hot and fresh. The tea is cold and refreshing. On top of all this, the portions are great! Try them out, they are kind of hidden by an auto parts store, but if you go looking for them you will not be disappointed.

I love this little restaurant. :D It’s a tiny little hole in the wall that you might miss if you didn’t know to look for it, but it cranks out some serious flavor and the owner is always there and very friendly. I’ve been there twice now for 2 lunch outings, and admittedly got the same exact thing because it was so good the first time! To start I got the rice soup. It’s very flavorful and hearty. It reminds me of the perfect soup for a cold day or when you aren’t feeling tip top. It’s got plently of fresh ginger in it too, which is something I love. My date got the tom kha soup and while it’s very good, we felt it was a little too salty. Next we got the spring rolls. The presentation when they come out is beautiful and my goodness are they tasty! I love how crisp they are and the sweet and sour sauce in the bottom is well balanced and not overly sweet. The entrée we eventually decided on was the Pad pak. We ordered it medium hot and it was perfect for us. We love decently spicy food! I loved how many different vegetables were in this dish and how they still had a really satisfying crunch to them without being undercooked. The sauce was flavorful and well balanced, and the rice, served on the side, was tasty and plentiful. I’ll be back.

Solid 4 stars for the food and 5 stars for the service. Pros: Service, Service, Service– They understand that when your glass is empty– fill it before I ask. Pad Thai– the noodles are al dente and not mushy(a little sweet — but I like it). They have a Pad Thai special for $ 6 on M-W nights Panang Curry(Medium spice is a true medium) Cons: I don’t think there is AC or very limited AC in here. It was a little hot inside, but once you sat down– it was fine. Notes: They have a limited menu– but I like that. I hate it when restaurants have a huge Cheesecake Factory Menu– but they can’t get it right. There is no sushi here, just good Thai Food. I do wish they had Papaya Salad though! TIps: I love Mango Sticky Rice, but very few Thai restaurants seems to have it for dessert. If you call Lanna 24 hours before, they can make it for you!
