I heard about the«Bayou Adventure» last Tuesday and was excited to take my kids there all week. I read about all the fun activities and the giant animatronic troll at the entrance, and I thought, «my kids are going to love this!» Saturday rolled around and even my wife tagged along because she was scouting for birthday party venues. Upon entering, we could only smell the funk of locker room and feet seemingly magnified by the«giant hot tent» the activity center is sheltered in(unless they were trying to pass it off as the smell of the swamp — and if the real bayou is anything like this, I’m staying out of Louisiana). Visually, I thought I was in the wrong place from what I read online. More than half of the arcades were broken(and those that did would either eat your tokens or not give out the proper tickets), the slot car activity and animatronic troll were broken, the place was dirty, and the teenage employees have all the apathy of prisoners on work release. Nothing says, «We appreciate your business» like being absolutely ignored by the teen-aged employees clustered together behind the counter socializing — and you need an employee for any of the activities. One of the sorriest examples I can provide is when my 8-year old daughter(a self-proclaimed tom-boy and future basketball prodigy) couldn’t wait to show off her skills at the basketball shoot-out. We had the rudest«attendant» help us out, and made my daughter shoot from the very back of the court(later we realized older kids were able to move up significantly). Our helpful attendant couldn’t wait to get back behind the counter to socialize again, and my daughter was disappointed that she didn’t have the strength to sink regulation-distance free throws. Like putt-putt golf? They have a disheveled course littered with wood chips and no boundaries on many of the holes(hope you enjoy playing under a dark bridge and fishing golf balls out of a filthy makeshift pond for your young kids). My kids were so disappointed, and I was mad at myself for hyping them up for the«big surprise» on the weekend. I hope this review keeps a few people out of this place. I wasted $ 30 here, and will ward friends away if I’m able. I’m not sure if Joe Dumars is associated directly with the Bayou Adventure, but if he is I’d be ashamed. Also, I wanted to make mention that I usually ONLY write positive reviews(please don’t hesitate to look at my reviews). Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to give my kids a bath to wash the filth off.
