Very decent food, folks. Convenient parking, cut downtown, and very simple in town lunch spot. 4 stars only because they were out of a few key items. It was Monday, so not too bad.

I’ve only eaten here once — I did not consult Unilocal before walking in — had I looked, I might not have tried this place! I stopped in for a late lunch — ordered a bowl of their Chili. It’s a hefty portion — seemed like I detected a hint of sweetness/cinnamon in the Chili. The Chili is served topped with some grated cheddar cheese/ I asked for some hot sauce and was given several bottles to choose from, including some Habanero and Ghost Chile selections — which pleases me! I am tired of restaurants stocking only Tabasco sauce! Chili was good and filling. Service was good!

Apparently a garden burger means a hamburger(should have gotten the hint when she asked how I wanted it cooked). No tomatoes means plenty of tomatoes. The waitress brought my soda while holding the glass where my mouth would go(yum)! And of course the order took forever, etc, etc. Like one reviewer said, we should have read the reviews of this place before coming here. Oh well. Lesson learned.

Man… I am not sure what happened… The place went downhill. The food isn’t as good as I recall, pretty bland. It is just no longer on my radar for places to eat. I really liked this place too and they had the right price. The service has still been pretty good, HOWEVER… One thing I will mention is that the owners and waitresses need to stop smoking out front, and then coming back to serve tables. I don’t want you serving me food while you smell like a fresh smoked cig. I’m really sad for this place.

Haven’t been impressed with the Village Restaurant in the past. Heard it was under new ownership so we went to try it again, which was a bad idea. Food was still bland, service hadn’t improved, and on top of it all I got sick! Definitely won’t be trying it again any time soon.

Should have looked at these Unilocal reviews before I ate there. This past Saturday I ordered their special clam strip plate which they should have called a french frie plate. I kid you not 7 small clam strips on a bed of french fries. I should have sent it back.

I didn’t experience any major service issues with the staff. I was giving the Village Restaurant 1 star because the food was just so freaking awful. I ordered the prime rib($ 13) with a baked potato and veggies. I hated everything. I ordered the prime rib medium and I got it medium rare. There was blood all over my plate. But the meat was largely in edible because of the huge slab of fat

where there for a lunch stop. Standard pub food type. Nothing fancy. Staff was friendly and quick. Interior is getting a bit old.

I’ve never had a bad meal at the Village Restaurant. I find the staff friendly, and the service good. The servings are generous, the prices very reasonable. I am local, and eat here frequently.

I’m giving this place 1 star because there’s no option to give zero stars. We had lunch there recently and it was one of the lamest restaurant experiences I remember. First, the 15 minute wait we were told about turned into 25 minutes. Then, we were seated at a table that had just been Windexed to death and I was gagging on the fumes. It took 15 minutes to get our menus. Finally, we ordered a simple lunch of sandwiches and wraps for my mom. my husband, my 5 year old son and myself. Well, 45 minutes later, we still had not even been served our drinks. When we reminded the waitress, she laughed and said«Oops, I forgot!» as though there were something funny about our afternoon being wasted. It took about an hour to be served our food — ONEHOUR to make 4 sandwiches! During all that time, the waitress was nowhere to be seen and in fact was making herself scarce every time I tried to catch her eye. The owner wasn’t any better — he became arrogant and gave me attitude when I had the audacity to ask where our food was. When the food did arrive, it was not bad. But so what? We wasted almost 2 hours sitting around feeling hungry and uncomfortable in this restaurant. If you’re in Shelburne Falls, you are better off going to the market across the street and getting a sandwich to go. The only explanation for this Village Restaurant to stay in business must be its prime location and the lack of competition in town.

The other two reviews are spot on. I have been visiting family in Shelburne Falls for 20 years and have seen a lot of restaurants come and go. This one is by far the worst. Normally, I’d be happy to see the old Subway go in favor of a Mom and Pop place, but not in this case. The«restaurant»(I’m using that term loosely) is the most rude mom and pop operation I’ve encountered in a long time. Before even greeting us, the waitress vents about another group not waiting to be seated. It then takes us 20 minutes to get even a glass of water. Our fish sandwiches and salads took 45 minutes with a rude interlude from the owner about how busy they were. The place was barely 2⁄3 full! I’m sorry if you can’t run at capacity, you don’t deserve to be in business. Take out the extra 4 tables you can’t handle and save everyone the pain of having to deal with rude service. The Village Restaurant will probably die a slow death like so many other restaurants in town. The town would be better off if it died a quick one.

We had breakfast here over the weekend it would have been funny were we not so annoyed! The two members of the wait staff was nice, but not really up to the task of waiting tables. They were bickering with each other in front of customers and the owner or manager also clearly didn’t know very much about customer service. The food was passable, but if you are in the area, go to the Mohawk Diner on Route 2 for a much better breakfast experience!

Owner defiantly doesn’t not know how to run a restaurant. We waited at least 20 minutes in our seat in order to have a waitress to come to even ask if we need any drinks. We tried to wave at them, but both waitress seems ignoring us for first 20 minutes. They walk pass by our booth many times, but doesn’t seems to even look at our booth. At least two group came later after us got served before us. The waitress waited us seems didn’t get any training at all. After 20 minutes, she came. We ordered 5 drinks and our food. She brought one drink at a time with her fingers holding on the edge of the cup,(what about using a tray? Trained waitress knows never to leave finger prints at edge of a glass) After waiting for another 35 minutes atop of the 20 minutes, we still didn’t get the fifth drink and food. The other two group came later whom served by another waitress already finished their food. We never seen our food. One of our member was very hungry and went talked to the owner, then they brought the food over. The other waitress who know how to use a tray cause a little stir by knocking down one of the drink all over the floor at next booth. I took a bathroom break during the meal, I heard people in the kitchen told the 1st waitress, «oh, we out of sliver wares» Our waitress did come ask us to see if the food is ok and if we need any thing else. After we done the food, we waved to the boss in order to get a check. The boss yelled at our group across the room«Be patient!!!» Every one looked us and it makes them think we are the guilty party but mistreated. This is really one of the worst restaurant ever I ate which gave customers such bad services. I am totally disappointed with this restaurant.
